OVERVIEW

Expands the limits of a mini amp with a rich array of rhythm patterns.

The new AC1 RhythmVOX adds a wealth of features never before seen on a mini amp. In particular, the rhythm function rivals that of dedicated units, providing a total of 66 Rhythm/Song Patterns. The AC1 RhythmVOX combo amp is a great choice not only as a first amp, but also as a warm-up amp on the road or in your rehearsal space, for practicing using the patterns as a metronome, or even as a rhythm box. It's sure to have a long and warm relationship with any guitarist.

Powerful Rhythm Features
As its name suggests, the AC1 RhythmVOX is a guitar amp that includes some cool rhythm features. The ten Rhythm Patterns include not just standards such as 8 beat, 16 beat, and blues but also funk, reggae, and even complex irregular patterns. There's also one song pattern containing an extended, multi-measure drum part. In addition, each Rhythm Pattern and Song Pattern provides six types of variations for a total of 66 rhythm parts. Each boasts serious sound quality with excellent presence, allowing you to perform with a realistic drum backing. The tempo and volume of each rhythm pattern can be intuitively controlled, and you can quickly recall the rhythm pattern you want. The Rhythm section of the AC1 RhythmVOX is both a guide to help you keep the beat, and a way to work out your original ideas and riffs.

Enhanced Amp Performance
The AC1 RhythmVOX also has a lot to offer as a standalone guitar amp. There's a full complement of gain, tone, and volume controls, letting you dial-in a broad range of sounds to suite your taste. A pair of 3" speakers delivers a full-bodied sound. Refinements have been made to deliver full-fledged amp sound based on the analog circuitry developed for the best-selling amPlug series of headphone amps. An Overdrive switch provides even more sonic variation. Switch it on for a serious high-gain sound; switch it off for a bright, clean sound.

Packed with Extras
In addition to the cool rhythms and great amp sound, the AC1 RhythmVOX provides numerous features indispensable to any guitar player. A dedicated E-string tuner keeps you in tune at all times. Use the headphone jack for private practice at any hour! Connect your MP3 player or other external audio source to the Aux In jack and jam along with songs from your favorite band. Convenient battery power lets you enjoy all these features, any time, any place! An optional AC adapter is also available.

This little mini-amp was a very pleasant surprise. I wanted a small footprint device that I could practice along with an mp3 player, either using a headphone output or an external speaker. There are very few products are out there that fit the bill. Not only does the AC1 satisfy these requirements, it also provides a cool little drum machine, which is great for coming up with riffs and song structures. The headphone jack sounds very good, and even the speakers have a unique sound that was better than I expected. But like another reviewer said, there's about zero clean headroom on the amp, so you almost always wind up with an overdrive/distortion sound. Overall, a great little product for the money.

Comments about AC1 RhythmVOX Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:

I live in an area that prevents me from playing my acoustic. I bought this in place of a headphone amp and fell in love with the rhythm functions. As a starter, plugging into this little guy makes me feel free to play into my headphones and play away. Scales aren't so boring playing to different rhythms and the rest of the house has no idea what i'm up to. I wouldn't rave about the sound quality but the battery life has been great. (I play about 60-90 mins a day and they last about 3 weeks)

Comments about AC1 RhythmVOX Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:

My daughter bought this for me for Christmas. It's a cute little amp for what it is. I like the built in rhythm (drum machine) settings and can find a good use for some of them, maybe on some backing tracks.

The only thing that I don't care too much for is the distortion sound quality. There is no warmth at all. It's okay (I guess) on the clean setting, but when you flip the switch to overdrive, it goes overboard. It is *WAY TOO HARSH* when you flip the switch to overdrive. It has the most nastiest, most nasal, two-cats-fighting-in-your-backyard, type of overdriven sound!!! Play with it clean and it's okay and sounds good.

It's fun to play with but I like it most because it's so darn cute! I have a small collection of these little baby amps and the Rhythm Vox stands out in the crowd.

Cute but not worth the trouble

Comments about AC1 RhythmVOX Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:

Just not worth the trouble or the space. I returned mine.
This little practice amp tries to be all things and winds up being none. The first thing an amp has to be is an amp. This little guy has about zero clear head room so just about every setting at a usuable volume level winds up having some distortion. The rhythm track feature is hard to lock in to the same rhythm repetitively. Rotary switches instead of pots would have helped. Bottom line, the little guy just didn't sound good. My twenty buck Dano Honeytones sounded as good or better.
The unit is impressive looking and everything worked as designed. So. from a quality standpoint it met expectations. Good build. Bad design.
Not really a good buy. For less money you can get as good or better sounding battery amp. Other fetures would add value but those are hard to consistently use.

...but it is fun to play with. The included rhythms are fun, and it has a decent overdrive sound. It has almost zero clean headroom, and that's even with fairly low-output pickups. It looks cool, and it makes for a fun gift for a guitarist or Vox fan (like myself).

Comments about AC1 RhythmVOX Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:

I gave it a 4 on quality because when I got it the speakers didn't work, but Musicians Friend corrected the problem right away (a reason I get stuff there). The best thing I like it is the rhythms and the sound of them. Not some metronome two tone clicking in some mechanical pattern like everything else I have, but actual decent sounding drum beats that are useable. I even use it for rhythm / metronome and plug into a regular amp. I'm always impressed by it as I play. The other thing I like is the size. It was much smaller than I expected, which i like, because it fits in my Strat guitar case. I travel a lot so the whole little thing works for what I need. Don't expect to jam in a band with it. It's made for a purpose and does great for what it was made for. It's small and just $60 with a great sound that I like.

Comments about AC1 RhythmVOX Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:

Sorry but this just plain sounds like crap even at low volume. While it has great "Features" it need a couple of more watts to drive the thing. If it was half the price I could say you get what you pay for.
