OVERVIEW

Classic Vox tube sound presented in retro skin.

VOX Custom Series amps offer two channels; Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control; the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone-shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the Custom Series can deliver the coveted clean VOX "chimey" sound or a powerful overdriven tone - and everything in between.

Comments about Vox AC15 15W 1x12 Limited Edition Tan Tube Guitar Combo Amp Tan:

Have had a few AC15/30s over the years. Seems like the quality has progressively gotten better over the past decade. I had an original AC15 and this is the first time I've felt that the quality of a new one is reminiscent of the 60s (weight, coloring, etc.) If you're reading this you already know and have probably experienced that vintage tone and beautiful chime you'll get from these amps. Please note that a lot of people will say that the AC15 isn't powerful enough to cover a drummer or screaming fans, they're probably right about 10,000 fans, not so much about the drummer...and if you're in that scenario, you'll be mic'd up..remember that's why VOX came out with the AC30 - for bands asking for an amp that could out voice hysterical girls. My home and studio have no screaming women that I know of. Also, as most have stated, these are heavy and fairly big. IMO, actually be a bit heavy for most to lug around daily. If you've never owned an AC15 or 30, you're in for a treat. The on board tremolo and reverb make getting a great sound super easy - there are not 50 knobs you need to adjust to get a perfect sound, just a handful; which is all you'll need. The exceptionally simple controls on top make this amp great for beginners as well as pros like myself. Lastly, and probably most importantly, color. I'm not one to say that this amp is beautiful but sounds like garbage, and this amp is ugly, but has a tone to die for, but this amp is beautiful in tan and sounds amazing. I was never really a fan of the red or purple VOX's when they came out, but this tan option is going to quickly become a collector's item IMO. Got it a few days ago, gig'd it last night and a few guys came up to me and were arguing if my amp was a 50's or 60's AC15 that had been kept in immaculate condition or if I'd had it recovered. When I told them it was new their hearts sank, then they smiled and one of the guys pulled out his phone and ordered 1. Honestly, probably the last amp I'll ever buy.

Comments about Vox AC15 15W 1x12 Limited Edition Tan Tube Guitar Combo Amp Tan:

This amp should have come with a footswitch for the price, even though I bought it on a Stupid Deal and have one already for my other Vox amps. It seems a nasty trend to sell amps without footswitches any more - a gimmick to make more profit on a typically needed accessory. What's next - power cord sold separately? Nonetheless, this amp looks and sounds great, for what it is, a 15w 1x12 with 2 nice dial-able channels. However, I just bought a Laney Lionheart 5w 1x12 for almost the same exact money, and the Laney is made of marine-grade plywood and came with both footswitch and dust cover, even as a Condition Level 2! Very similar sounding amps, but I would go with the Laney any day, even at 5 watts. If I did NOT want to keep this amp because it IS decent sounding and looking (and I can save my Laney from "outside" use lol), I would have bought a Laney IRT-X powered extension cab instead of another Vox box. But I still won, because I have another fat-sounding apartment amp in my collection that may become a hard-to-find classic in tan! Can you really have too many axes and amps? I want the readers to know that, I gave this Vox only 4 stars because the Laney deserved the 5 for being all around better by several attributes. However, this is still a very good sounding (bells and chimes) amp, and you should seriously consider the price point for what you get! If you want an amp in this size and sound class, I would only buy a Laney over it, but they usually cost more. Blues and Classic Rock players will like this amp though.
