The Vox chime quickly turns to a gritty overdriven beast when this amp is put through its paces. It more than fills my living room with sound.
As others have said, this amp loves pedals. I was wanting some reverb, so I got an Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master to broaden the spaciousness of the amp. It's a perfect pairing. The warble of an MXR Analog Chorus makes this amp do amazing things.
I picked the AC4 with an open box discount, so I paid a discounted price for an amp that looks and sounds brand new.
I'd love an AC-15, but have no need for it given the size of our house. Even at 4 watts, this amp more than meets my needs. Don't hesitate if you're in the market for a small practice amp for your house or studio!

I played this at another big name music store, and it sounded pretty decent. I've been wanting to try one out for a really long time, and it was one of the first amps I went to when I walked into the store. I didn't have the chance to play it in a more intimate environment, i.e. a bedroom or living room, so it might be different under those circumstances? But the wattage is just too low. I know that's how it was designed, but I needed to turn up the volume a pretty decent amount just to be able to hear myself, and I prefer playing at very low volumes, if that says anything. That being said, this amp is still too quiet. Inconvenient if you're wanting to use it for the clean channel, like me.
I played maybe 5 guitars through it, including a Gibson flying V, higher end Mexican Strats, and a few semi-hollowbodies. The tone sounded flat and not very good. I suspect this would be a killer amp if you change out the speaker, but as is, it's not particularly good. I was going for a jazz tone, and it kinda got me there after some knob-tweaking. The overdrive was okay. You really have to crank it to get more than just some muffled breakup, which is a little inconvenient if you need to keep the volume down. However, for the price, it's not a bad little tube amp. Good for beginners or people who want to add a little more variety to their setup.

Comments about Vox AC4C-BL 4W 1x10 All-Tube Mini Guitar Combo Amp with Top Boost:

Nice, quality tube amp. Tried both the 10" and 12" speaker combo's. Preferred the 10 to the 12 because of the tonal qualities and better breakup. Handles pedals very well. Just a great little amp with a surprising power and tone.

As soon as I bought this amp I was in love with it. First, and most important the cleans are unreal good. I like it gained up as well but the cleans are the winner on this amp. I couldn't believe the clarity on notes and the chimey resonance that Vox is known for, it all came through on this baby! I own the cream version. The gain sounds really good as it's increased as well. I've been playing SG's, strats, and G&L's through this amp and I cant stop playing it. A true winner, scoop one up.

Comments about Vox AC4C-BL 4W 1x10 All-Tube Mini Guitar Combo Amp with Top Boost:

I play bass but I am also a pretty good guitarist too. I wanted a Vox AC 30 but cost was prohibitive and my house is too small. All I really wanted was good Vox sounding samall amp. Well I saw this baby on the CHEAP and I legally stole it! It is everything you want in an amp. The sound is marvelous with a Tele, Les Paul, or my cheap 12 string electric. Add a Wah Wah and an overdrive box oh my God. Beatles, Byrds, Petty, Hendrix, and Brian May are all in there waiting to come out and thril your ears!

Comments about Vox AC4C-BL 4W 1x10 All-Tube Mini Guitar Combo Amp with Top Boost:

I bought this for small duo shows (as I own several other bigger tube amps) and this has become my main amp by default. It is the perfect volume at its breakup for your pedals and also for micing (in the studio or live). Every time I try to bring a bigger amp to a gig now it seems too loud. Works great with humbuckers or single coils, unlike the AC15 which can be shrill with the treble at 0.This thing just needs a reverb tank. I have my delay pedal tweaked as a reverb and that works (purists say it's better than reverb). Did some lead work on a recording and no one knew the difference.

Great little amp. Got this to use with my Tele and the sound is too good. I haven't ever used a tube amp until this one, and now I will only go tube. I was looking for a nice clean sounding amp for the Tele to start recording myself, and this is definitely an amp that anyone recording themselves need. It packs a punch as small as it is, it gets up there compared to my 100 watt Fender Frontman which I was surprised about. Tubes are great and they have great sound, especially Vox. This amp certainly to their reputation.

              • Tones Big Amps Can't Get

Comments about Vox AC4C-BL 4W 1x10 All-Tube Mini Guitar Combo Amp with Top Boost:

It's uses are only limited by your imagination and the amount of support gear you've got. Small gigs, just go bareback. it's plenty loud enough, since a good drummer will tone down for small places anyway. For larger gigs, mic through the mains.

I enjoy the simplicity. Just set the volume and tone where you want them, (I like the volume almost pegged and the tones set high) Then use the guitar controls to tweek tone and distortion. There's hardly ever any need to fool with the amp controls.

It's really fun with a pedal board. A boost or preamp pedal will send the tone to that wild, hard to find place that most amps will never let you experience, even with weak pickups or a light handed playing style. Of course the usuals like reverb, delay and phaser are a must too, and they sound great with this amp. Can't tell you why, but try one and you'll hear it right away.

Every guitar player should have this amp or something very similar, just for the simple ease of use and tone drenched playability, and nevermind that it looks just cool as hell.
