The Vox amPlug is a headphone amp that can help you to create the perfect practice session. The tiny amPlug plugs directly into your guitar--then just plug in your headphones and relish some great Vox tone.

Jamming late at night? Don't want to wake the neighbors? Maybe you want to work out a lick with your MP3 player without taking the time to set up your amp. If you want to play guitar right now, amPlug is the answer. Simply plug this palm-sized headphone guitar amp directly into your guitar, and enjoy serious guitar sound anywhere, anytime.

Even with its ultra-compact size, the Vox amPlug perfectly reproduces the complex and warm distortion that is distinctive of a vacuum tube, as well as the powerful high gain produced by a large amp stack. Using analog modeling technology, amPlug delivers full-fledged amp sound.

Even the circuit response of the original amp is simulated completely. The simulation extends not only to the response of the tone circuits, but also to the way in which the high frequency and gain are affected when you turn down the volume control of the guitar. Every detail has been faithfully reproduced.

amPlug can be used in numerous ways. With up to fifteen hours of battery life, it's easy to take amPlug anywhere. In addition to practicing at home, it's a great way to warm up before a live performance or on the road. And amPlug is not just a convenient way to get great guitar sound. There's also an AUX input jack so you can jam along with your CD/MP3 player.

Classic Rock gives you the great high-gain sound of a UK-made 100W amp, and uses four classical gain circuits to deliver that great sound.

Also available in AC30, that emulates the AC30 top boost sound of a vintage VOX AC30, and Metal, based on a California-made high-gain amplifier head.

I'm a hard sell on many items. I recently bought this item and instantly liked it. It's made to sound a little crunchy to relatively distorted. I find the sound good enough for anything I want to practice. With the gain down as low as it will go, I even get a "clean enough" sound for songs that require no crunch or distortion (though others may find it not clean enough). The only problem I have is that it will not plug completely into my Heavy Metal Strat. I solved this by routing it through a chorus pedal which not only made it work for the Strat, but now added chorus. If I wanted to travel with it, I'd simply take my Les Paul which the Vox has no problems plugging into. I think it's priced a bit high, but no too bad (apparently; I bought one!) That you can route MP3 and other sources through it is a real bonus when I'm trying to learn some new licks.

I bought this because I wanted a quick little practice amp and was really unhappy with it. The distortion tone is awfull; no tonal harmonics at all and there is no clean tone, just a constant rasp. I gave it away and bought a Pocket Rockit S1 which sounds 100x better and it icludes headphones and has a nifty rotating input plug. The Vox is not worth the money. Its just a fad toy.

Comments about Vox Amplug Classic Rock Headphone Amp:

This is as advertised. Has plug in for guitar and input from computer/mp3 player. The only one available with both apparently. My only complaint is that it is not available with a clean sound. Even for the rock version, by the time you max out the volume and put the gain up enough to hear there is usually too much distortion for a cleaner sound. It's ok, but not like it should be. Yo would expect this from the heavy metal version.

Clean to Over the Top Crunch

            By beaugatlin

Comments about Vox Amplug Classic Rock Headphone Amp:

I just received this small headphone amp and just quit playing it after two straight hours. I purchased the Vox Amplug AC30 about a year ago and was less than impressed with it. At the time, I was running it into a Highway One Telecaster with stock single coil pickups.I now have a Gibson SG Standard with stock pickups. I really debated weather or not to get the AC30 again or the Classic Rock because I couldn't find any definitive reviews about how clean the Classic Rock could get. Let me be DEFINITIVE...It can do cleans really well! It can also get some crazy gain too. I was really impressed by how responsive it was to my playing dynamics. Even with a lot of gain, all I had to do was roll back the volume and it sounded so warm and full.Having watched the few YouTube videos with the AC30, I didn't think it would have enough gain or crunch. I'm so glad I went with the Classic Rock.

This is a very versatile amp that can go from sweet cleans to insane ditortion. I play stuff like Green Day, paramore and the offspring; when I use it with my strat, I get that perfect tone with some adjustment of the gain and tone. I like that it uses AAA's and not 9 volts (more convenient, cheaper)I love this and I would definately recommend it.

            Perfect practice amp

            By Tonefreak9

            from Florida

Comments about Vox Amplug Classic Rock Headphone Amp:

This little headphone amp has a great tone. Its modeled after old British amps so its got a great overdrive sound. Please note that if you want to get a clean tone look at some of the other models. The gain must be turned up a little to hear anything out of this. If you normally play out of a tube amp with some grit, there won't be much of a difference in your tone when you plug into this. It also comes with an auxillary input so you can plug in your cd player or your ipod. For those of us that live with other people this is a great way to be able to practice songs over and over without annoying everyone around you. Also, if your car stereo has an aux input also then you have got yourself a mobile rig. Think about those commercials for the car that came out a few years ago with Slash plugged into it wailing.

With summer around the corner I purchased this to sit out at the pool and practice without bothering anyone. WOW! This cranks and the sound is good. You have to turn some gain on to hear it if you are trying to play clean but it still sounds good.

Comments about Vox Amplug Classic Rock Headphone Amp:

I bought this so I can practice and not annoy the neighbors (or my wife). As soon as I plugged it in I was floored. It sounds as good as my Fender combo amp. I can get good metal distortion out of this one, plus some good bluesy overdrive and nice clean tones. I haven't played this much as I have since I got this, and that's the most important feature. Buying this will make you play more. What's better than that?
