When I tried this amplifier at my local guitar store, there was just one drawback; I couldn't get enough gain out of it. Everything else seemed spectacular. I purchased it on the chance that the Top Boost channel would drive harder with higher volumes. When I brought it home, I turned it up sufficiently and really played it the way it should be played, and I honestly couldn't be happier. The controls take a bit of getting used to, but they're extremely versatile. It will get some pretty intense overdrive tones at higher volumes. My one recommendation is to get a Line Selector pedal so you can switch between the channels.Anyways, you really ought to at least try this legendary amp.

I bought one from my local music store after trying it out a couple weeks and wish I would've returned it within the return period.Bad:-"Chimey" isn't the word for it, the normal channel is just too bright! It's piercing even with the treble all the way down.-It doesn't take pedals well and the built in reverb is hard to describe, but different than any other reverb I've ever heard- not good.-It's very noisy when turned up. The signal is still "clean", it's not breaking up, but it rattles and the sound is very loose.-The switches for modern/vintage, normal/custom, etc. do very little to the sound.-The tone cut control works well to about 1 o'clock, then sounds like a wet blanket has been thrown over the amp.Good:-I really liked the boost channel. From low to high gain, it's very articulate and you can get some really crunchy, classic overdriven sounds. Very nice boost.-Alright tremolo.I sold mine and bought a used Fender Deluxe Reverb for a way better price. You can still get those sparkling highs, but you can also dial them out for a warmer, fuller tone. The natural overdrive doesn't get as crunchy, but it handles pedals much better than the Vox.

WELL worth the money. Vox finally got back the good tone!
I'm a Matchless fan as well as an Orange fan - and for the money, this amp is worth every penny. Vox finally got back to the classic tone. The added controls and cut control have helped me get to that warm and brittle chime that I love.

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I purchased my CC2 about 7 months ago and have had some time to really get to know it. I'm a huge Vox fan, but I want to emphasize a few points about the CC2 in particular. First of all, DO NOT shy away from this amp because it's made in China. In my experience the negative stigma is completely baseless-this amp is high quality and dependable. Second, everyone knows Alnico Blues are great speakers, but the Wharfedales sound killer. The difference is really in whether you prefer the Greenback sound or the Blues sound. I love British AC30s, but the CC2s are so much more versatile. With an A/B switch, you have a ton of clean/dirty options with this amp that you won't have with the older British ones (the independent volume on the topboost/normal channels makes the difference). As a matter of fact, I was recently in a studio that had a late 90s British top boost and the engineer was a little dismissive of my CC2. Ultimately, we ended up using the CC2 for most of my tracking over the British-I'm not saying it's better, but it's just as good and certainly more versatile.

HAPPY :)

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is my first high end valve. It's a beast! Very loud, very clear and the tremolo and reverb are incredible! The gain is classic crunch tone. Heavy little amp but then again the wheel was invented a long time ago, so no complaints. Buy a mini airport trolley and you'll be OK (Vox why don't you start selling them with these?). p.s. I play slide on an SG with heavy strings. Classic ABB Fillmore tone through this amp :)

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have had this amp for about 2 months now. The only thing I did was change tubes and I also did the bright cap mod. This amp is fantastic. Do not listen to the bad reviews here. There must have been some duds when these where first manufactured, but every one I have played in my search for this amp was fantastic. You do need to put in the tubes you like but that is just to get the tone you like. These amps ooz vintage AC30. Just a fantastic amp that you won't be able to stop playing. The only negative thing I can say is that the Wharfdale speakers take quite a long time to break in. But once they are they sound fantastic. For those who say these speakers are junk, they don't know what they are talking about. Just break them in and your in tone heaven. The Wharfdales were designed and tested by an original celestion designer. They are designed as a combination greenback and G12H-30, and you can here that in them once there broken in.I would recomend this to anyone who wants to swim in vintage tube tone. And the extra features are very thoughtfully added. They do nothing but help produce the sound you want.I have a lot of tube amps from searching for the right one. I should have gone with my instinct and bought this first. I would have saved a lot of money in the long run.

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have owned this amp for several months. And have had no problems with it. It has a rich classic sort of sound to it. It can produce anything from crystal clear clean tones to moderate overdriven tones. I have to disagree with some other reviews in that in my experience, the reverb is excellent, you can practically swim through it when you crank it up. I have recorded with the amp on many occasions and consistently get excellent results. It seems very solidly manufactured. The downsides here are that it is very heavy at over 70pds. Its also very loud at 30 all tube watts. But if your serious about your sound, this will give you a good amount of versatility from clean to rock and blues tones. If you are looking for a good metal/hard rock amp, look elsewhere.

A classic made BETTER!

By S. Stevens

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I've own a few vintage AC30's and bought a new CC2 recently. Kudos to VOX! They made a true classic BETTER! This amp is a TONE MACHINE! It is capable of the most prestine, glistening highs and the bassiest lows of any combo I've owned. Don't let the 30 watts fool you; these are class A watts. It's loud! Louder than my Marshall 50 watt head and cab! I use a modeler/processor with it and get nothing but kudos from othere guitarists whenever I play live. This is the best money you will EVER spend! I know. I'm a working pro who has played with Grammy winners.

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I'm surprised to see so many poor reviews for the AC30 Custom Classic. I had used a JMI era Vox as well as a 70's ere AC30, and found both to be very inconsistent. My Custom Classic however has been a beautiful sounding and performing amp from the get go. I play 50+ shows a year and countless practices with the AC, and it's always 100% perfect. Apart from needing a preamp tube replaced after about 1000 hours, it's been nothing short of perfect. I play in an original indie/modern rock band -the AC has no shortage of guts. It's not a high gain amp, so I use a Virtual Sound Jekyl and Hyde for drive/distortion. I also play (John) in a Beatles Tribute, and love the fact that it can be pretty and jangly, warm and full, or crunch all at once.I have a friend who has had one short out on him... but I guess I got lucky. I'll never buy anything else.

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is the greatest amp ever! I have owned lots of amps over the years in what I believed a never ending quest for perfect tone... until I decided to try a vox. Wow! I know it is made in china but even so, the price is really low for an amp this quallity.I gave it 5 on features because you dont need more on an amp: built in digital preamps and fx only makes things worst when looking for tone, and you dont need them.I play METAL, yes, metal with this amp, just plug my guitar through a mt2, and the sound is amazing, takes away the mt2 infamous nasal/bee sound.I own a studio and currently have this as my main amp, its good for any style, I play also jazz, blues and rock. Perfect match for my Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded.Quality: 5 although I have had it for 3 month only.Value: it is a classic Vox reissue, no further explanation needed.

LOVE my ac30

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

OK...I've read some of the other reviews from the guys who don't like the ac30. I have to say, it's a GREAT amp! Understand from the get-go, this is an adult's amp, and if you're looking for an ultra-high-gain amp, this is not the one for you. However, if you intend to use this amp like a tube amp should be used, you won't be disappointed. Turn the channel volume to 10, set your lead volume level with the master volume, then set your level of gain with your volume knob on your guitar, and you are good to go. Wonderful crunch, incredible cleans...what more could you ask for?

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amps is loaded with features! It sounds really great and there's alot features. But, this thing is not made to last. I have had problems with it numerous times. I've had it in the shop 3 times and have only had it around 8 months.... I don't know if it was just my amp, or if others had any problems as well, but I would not recommend this product for anyone wanting something to last.

I bought this amp a few days ago and I am in love with this amp. It as great tone and hooked up with my pedal board it sounds amazing. With the normal and top boost channel you get tons of sounds to fool around with. Once you find the right tone on this amp you will be amazed to.

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

simply put, wow!I had been eyeballing this amp for couple of years. I've played through several (and yes, there are a few duds) and overall, have been highly pleased with the sound. i've tried to make this thing sound muddy in the lows and it's just not possible. the sound is heavenly.as of now i have owned my AC30 for over three years. its been through many shows and travelled almost the entire u.s. west coast. it's held up well and besides the normal battle scars, it is still very much so structually sound.i would reccomend this amp to anyone looking for a classic blusey or loud power driven rock sound (not metal, but this thing IS LOUD). the built in effects are prettyt basic, but are still usefull once you have gotten used to the amp. i use mine with a vox wah, a univibe, and for the added overdrive, a tube screamer.the only thing id really have to knock this amp on is the price. although it's amazing, it's still pretty escential as a tube amp. but its one of those things thats worth it in the end not to skimp on an amp. good job vox.

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp without even playing it. I have to say that it took me a while to find my sound. The tone controls do make a huge difference when used in conjunction with the tone cut. Plus, this amp needs to be turned up, warmed up, and broken it to appreciate. I've used it on numerous recordings, from country to heavy rock.

I went to try this amp today at a music store! I was impressed at the sound of this amp! I also tried a peavey valveking halfstack and this combo amp is much better than the valveking. It sounds great alone and with pedals! If I had the money I would buy this amp!

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is possibly one of the best amps I've ever heard. Right out of the box turned it on gave a minute for the tubes to warm then cranked it up, it was amazing. The clean was so pristine and when I dialed it up for distortion it was great. Adding a distortion pedal for leads is necessary but for everything else this amp can do it. Simply stellar

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp rocks. Great warm sound perfect for blues and rock. I play a fender telecaster 72 thinline through and fultone ocd pedal. The amp gets great natural distortion on its own but i use the pedal for that extra drive. This amp is loud so if ur just planning on playing in ur room invest in a different amp, but if ur serious about gigging and playing shows this amp is amazing. Downside its pretty heavy but nothing a friend cant help you with :).

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is a killer! My collegue owns a Fender combo (some newer issue) with all that crispness and all the best from Fender but I am just so happy about my VOX.. When I wanted to buy an amp I was varying between some Fender, VOX, or maybe Mesa combos but finally I decided for this and I have to say this was the best choice. I love it, I love the sound rich and warm and loud!!! Very very loud. Anyway for any amateur musician like me it is one of the best amps so far. Shame that old Selmer manufacturing does not exist anymore..

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have had this amp for a few months, and I can't stop playing it. I know there are people on here that say it sounds nothing like an original AC30, and they may be right. I never had the privilege to play an original from the 60s. I can say that I am very pleased with this amp. My one gripe is that it is very heavy.

Comments about Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2 30w 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Vox has unfortunately created a sham of a product with this batch of cheapies. You can find a nice Vox for the same price, please respect those and try to find one. If you must have one of these be sure to run it through the paces as many, and I mean many that I have played have serious technical issues. It must be the quality control was set to 0 with all the bugs in these little boxes. I've played em all and if you must get a new vox look to the handwired ac15. You can find them for a very reasonable price and they sound far superior. Again, please check the am you buy when it comes to these. I have played I believe 5 ac30s of this line with technical issues so bad that were deemed unplayable in any pro setting.
