Constructed for ideal sound and power
Turret board hand-wired amps are every amp designer's ideal and every guitarist's dream, representing the ultimate in amplifier construction. Hand-wired amps are assembled entirely by hand, requiring staggering levels of technical expertise and care, and as such are often exclusive to today's limited productions or high-end models. The VOX Hand-Wired AC30HW2 combo pairs these demanding methods with rigorously-selected custom parts. These premium components are wired with a truly artistic degree of perfection. The result is that the subtle nuances of the guitarist's touch, the guitar's audio signature, and the natural character of the vacuum tubes are passed with perfect transparency to its 2 -12" Celestion G12M speakers, noted for their broad midrange attack and restrained top-end, providing a punchy attitude when chording, and a searing lead tone when driven hard.
True all-tube design - preamp, power amp, and rectifier
The VOX Hand-Wired AC30HW2 is a true all-tube amplifier, employing vacuum tubes in the preamp, power amp, and rectifier. The preamp uses three classic ECC83/12AX7 tubes, while the power stage uses a quartet of EL84s, along with a GZ34 rectifier tube. Combined, these three elements provide the vibrant, organic, and unmistakable tone that is the heart of the classic VOX sound.
Two-channel design: Top Boost and Normal
The VOX Hand-Wired AC30HW2 amp preserves the traditional VOX two-channel design, providing a Top Boost channel and a Normal channel. True to form, the Top Boost channel delivers the legendary AC30 sound with a fully interactive tone stack. VOX has also added a new and unique Hot/Cool switch. The Cool setting produces the orthodox Top Boost sound, while the Hot setting bypasses the tone circuitry altogether to create a more pure sound to achieve richer gain. A VFS1 footswitch is included with this VOX Hand-Wired Series amp, so you can quickly change between Cool and Hot, right at those moments when you need an extra dose of drive. The controls for the Normal channel consist simply of a volume knob, giving you a cleaner and more natural tube sound. "Old School" Master Volume bypass
The old AC30 had no master volume, nor indeed do most hand-wired amps. With such amps, high-gain sound meant that you needed to play at high volumes. High volume is unavoidable if tone is the primary consideration, but it can be inconvenient in many situations. The VOX Hand-Wired Series provides a master volume control, but also provides an MV/Bypass switch that completely bypasses the master volume section. This means that the legendary sound that has fascinated guitarists for more than 50 years can be faithfully reproduced, giving you a direct and pure high-gain tone.

I bought an ac15hw with a green. The map sounded amazing but i felt that the bass was a little to flabby at high volumes. It was very loud and enough to play with a band but I wanted more headroom in the cleans since the amp was breaking up really early even in the normal channel. I switched to a Alnico blue made in England and it was very nice and chimey but a little more loose on the bass side. I decided to buy an AC30HW2 with greenbacks. I just tested the amp last night vor about 5 hours with the band. It is a huge difference in power. The bass is a lot more apparent and the amp is very tight. This amp is made to be played loud. When you play at low volumes the amp sounds good but the hot and cool modes have a very big difference in volume. But when you have the volume bypassed the volume difference is not a problem and it becomes much more of a gain boost that is amazing and can still be used for thick rythm. I noticed that the greenbacks make this amp a much more versatile amp. It takes pedals well on the normal channel at high volumes with the greenbacks. With the alnico blue speakers it is a little more picky about pedals. Anyways I play hard rock and progressive stuff (coheed and cambria) and also play worship music. This amp works for both tyoes of music. I found that i like pedals with this amp at low volumes but when you crank it, there is nothing like its distortion. No pedal can make such an awesome sound so i have my pedals just for low volume stuff. If you want a well built amp that sounds great this is the amp for u. also there was a problem with this ac30hw (not accepting tubes) but vox allready fixed this issue and the amps sounds great. Ill never get rid of this one.

I'm a semi-professional musician, mainly a vocalist, and I'd always let my guitar build up some dust...I was never motivated to play due to a disappointing little Line 6 digital amp. It sounded like fuzz and no matter how much I tweaked it I could never feel proud of the sound I got.
This Vox changed everything. I watched a few Brian May videos online about his use of Vox in Queen and was sold. I only have a Boss overdrive pedal between my guitar and the amp at the moment (Wah pedal coming) and the sounds I can make...I'm in heaven.
Steep price but I'm so happy that I dropped the cash. I am not looking back at all and consider this to be an excellent trade of my money. I'm playing guitar daily and improving. Motivation mission accomplished!

One of the best amps out there , Lets face it there are only 3 great amps all the others need to imitate , VOX, Fender, and Marshall This is the real truth , your search fore tone will never end I hope because, if it does youve lost your heart ,and soul, for the love of Music !!
Ease of use , yes the problems they where having with the issue of this amp using JJ tubes seems to be fixed , If you are really into them ? Me I love that Vox blues tone so I go for more reissue MULLARDS and some Genelex GOLD LIONS !!!. This baby is heavy and that good Birch , you know and the chasse is really solid and easy to remove for changing tubes . The sound quality if this amp is Great , those Greenbacks are really blues breaker style . . This amp is tone , Tone and more tone !!

If your looking for long term amp, years of use because just discovering all the tone shaping you can do with this baby will take that long !
