I've had this amp for about 2 months now, starting to get a feel for everything that is has to offer. This is a VERY clean amp, if you expect to get distorted tones at reasonable volume levels, I would stick with the AC30CC2X, or consider getting an attenuator. If you are privileged enough to crank it though, the Alnico Blue speakers combined with the EF86 tube is a tone to die for. Amazing chime, note definition, and perfect frequency response out of this combo.I find that the Top Boost channel is a tad more versatile and can get a bit brighter (hence the name), but I mainly stick to the 1st channel in the secondary input (0db and -6db inputs on each channel). The white tolex also dings up fairly easy, so if you're a gigging musician expect to see some road wear a little quicker than with most amps!If you're looking for that Heartbreakers jangle with the right amount of midrange to cut through anything, this amp is the ticket to freedom.

I am 57 yrs old and I have played many good amps in my day. I thought I would give this amp a shot. Thought since it was handwired it would be ok. I bought it, took it to first job and it didnt even make it thru soundcheck without crapping out. This is not professional grade stuff but they charge you like it is. I took the amp back after trying to communicate with vox/korg and swapped it for a handwired (made in england)Marshall 1974x. Dont waste you money on this chinese stuff.

great amp

By jamesh.

from boston

This is a great amp, I don't care where its made, it sounds and looks amazing. The construction is very nice and it has been very reliable for me. The signature Vox chime is here and cranking the amp gets the sweetest overdrive you can imagine. I do recommend retubing it when you get it though. Do not listen to the bitter people who slag this amp because it isn't made in the UK. A good amp is a good amp regardless who makes it.

Vox ac30h2

By Brad AS

from LA

I've had this amp for over a year now. I been through badcat matchless etc.... Man this amp is the very best! Badcat blackcat was noisy and very sensitive even when moving my guitar cable on stage you can hear it dragging couldn't get what I wanted from a amp. Matchless dc was real simalair to this amp but what wasn't as articulate plus having that dirty tone behind it made it less pronounceable. Vox ac30h2 is amazing I has everything you need, crank this sucker up and it sounds even better. I've haven't had a problem yet and I do have a road case. If this amp takes a dump I will promise you I will be fixing it over and over, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Can't Touch this...

By tonedog735

from Seattle, Home of Jimi!!

I've been a Fender guy all my 30 plus years. I lived on Blackface Super Reverbs, Pro Reverbs, you get the idea. Along came the Vox AC30H2!! It was love at first note. How could a contemperary AC30 totally school a vintage 1964 AC30 (mine)? It did and continues to. This is not to say that I had a trouble free amp. Two days into a recording session, poof. That electrical smell of smoke and ozone. Not good. Took it to the folks at Vox Hollywood and it turned out to be the Chinese Rectifier tube. So, here's where I made this stunning amp the Matchless, Dumble, Marshall, any boutique amp killer. I took a quad of NOS/NIB 1961 Berlin Telefunkin EL84's put those in the power section. Put two early 1960's Mullard ECC83's in and one Telefunken EF86 to finish the preamp section. Lastly a NOS/NIB Mullard GZ34 rectifier went in. The tone went from unbelievable to pure magic! Do you believe in magic? VCome along with me...All the chime in the world is at my fingertips, when I crank it those Telefunken EL84's just sing with that creamy Vox sustaun we all strive for! The EF86 mode turned out to be my favorite. What a tone. It was really expensive to retube the amp with all these wonderful vintage, some NOS new in box, tubes but you know what, I bought them over time. Like maybe a few per year waiting for that perfect amp. So it didn't cost mt two grand out of pocket right then and there. So now you guys and girls know what you can do to have the finest Vox AC30HC in your area of the world! If you need help finding tubes I can and would be happy to locate many of them for you in fact I have a stunning inventory right now that will make these changes I'm talking about. Please believe me I did not write this review as an advertisment or a cheap shot way to sell tubes. I'm just saying I can help you out if you would like. Lastly, the playing experience has gotten me so in love with the guitar, performing, writing again! I couldn't be happier and that like the commercial says is priceless! Now, go out and but this amp with the Blue Bulldogs and be ready to crack the largest smile you've had on your face since your wedding night! It get's no finer than this! Peace and Love! Tonedog735

CLASSIC VOX

By Dino

from Ontario, Canada

I strongly urge anyone to TRY this amp before buying. 15 minutes on this amp will have you incredibly hooked on the creamy tones. The EF86 is, in my opinion, worth the price alone. Very vintage sound. You want Brian May "We will Rock You" ? it's right here. The top boost channel sings well also. Sounded best with single coils to me. But the WARMTH of the EF86 is truly outstanding. There is no reverb, or other features. Simple: Crank and play. THAT is how amps were intended. Pure sound from a solid birch cabinet. Now for the cream: the ALNICO BLUE speakers. Amazing. This is the difference between all other AC30s made in the last # of years. This amp is loud, no question. But what were you expecting from 30w of amazing tone? It doesn't matter where it's made. Vox has QA employees all over this stuff, and the components are top notch. Honestly, no one wants a bad reputation for faulty gear when you buy at this level. And, Vox DELIVERS.Like I said. Try it. Walk away if you don't like it. But, that won't be the case.

Another Chinese Rip-off in my opinion

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Don't get me wrong, i have respect for Vox's history. and you would think that even though they now work out of asia the quality would remain the same. sorry guys, these amps just aren't what they use to be. Now, on the other hand, instead of spending too much on this clunker, make your money worth it, Dr.Z amps makes models that are hand-wired and based on the original AC30's but offer better quality and the best tone you could ask for, even without effects. it will only be a few hundred dollars more and you get an all around better value and longer-lasting amp. I am in no way affiliated with Dr. Z but if you are looking for the AC30 sound, and then some, you should consider checking them out. there are also sound samples on their website for you to hear.

Extremely thick tone that you can't get anywhere else. This easily blows the "Custom Classic" amps out of the water, they're pitiful in comparison.

Bad Vox Collection

By Vox

from Fl.

See all my reviews

I bought two of the Ac15 Heritage amp couple yrs ago and boght were bad. So I waited and was thinking this amp has to be good no way can I get hit with a 3rd bad Vox AC30 Heritage amp. Well I receive the amp and went over it real good and the price for this amp should have been a 10+ well every screw was lose and one screw was hanging out on the side that when I knew this was bad, so I plug these junk in and never got to try one guitar out it was ready to blow up...so sent it back again to get a 4th AC30 Heritage it would be nice if it comes and it works for 30 min. so I can say hey has a good sound.
