To preface my review I learned something about Solid State amps when trading for this, there are three types of Solid State amps; analog, digital and modeling. I had a Marshall MG30CFX that fell into the digital category and sounded much better than a Blackstar modeling amp I had owned for all of one day. I kept the Marshall for about 8 months since it was not my primary amp but was always troubled I could not get a good high gain tone out of it; the other three channels sounded great but the limitations of a digital Solid State amp showed thru in OD2. So I went to my local Guitar Center to trade my Marshall in on an Orange Crush, but when I got there and played both the Orange and the Vox I was blown away by the Analog tone of the Vox. The clean tone, which I don't use a whole lot, is classic Vox. From almost acoustic sounding to a British chimey style sound. The Overdrive Channel is just a beast. I read some reviews that don't like the high gain in this amp, they obviously didn't take the time to dial it in. The simple controls of Gain, Bass, Treble and Volume while very simple are very sensitive and the smallest turn makes a noticeable difference in your tone. The sustain and the feedback are just incredible for a Solid State amp. I really never thought a Solid State amp could sound like this. I think it would do great for recording and home practice; but if you want to play out you will need something bigger or mic it. Lastly, all of my results are just my guitar (2 Deans with custom pickups) plugged directly into the amp sans any pedals.

Looks good (I got the one with the Union Jack on the grill), and is ok for practice, or playing a few songs for your friends in the living room. Lightweight, easy to bring anywhere. I got it on sale here; hard to go wrong at that price.
I say pay a little bit more and get the Fender 20W Champion instead.

I bought this just for practicing at home. It's very portable but very powerful. Great sound. The only dissadvantage is there is no reverb. It does have two channels clean and overdrive.

Comments about Vox Pathfinder 10 10W 1x6.5 Limited Edition Union Jack Guitar Combo Amp:

I got this little amp because I only own half stacks, and just wanted a small practice amp that is portable and cheap. The reviews looked fine and the price was fair, so I got it..and this thing is awesome! Hard to believe it costs as little as it does. Yes...it's solid state, and it's cheaper. It doesn't sound like my JCM, that's not the point of it. It's lightweight, compact, but puts out good cleans, nice overdrive and can hit a good volume level or stay quiet. For the price, it's the best amp I've come across. And the Union Jack on the front looks sweet, the photo doesn't do it justice. Pick this thing up ASAP bro!

Comments about Vox Pathfinder 10 10W 1x6.5 Limited Edition Union Jack Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is great for writing music and listening to tonal quality. I did not notice any noise and it worked great for a clean sound. It sounded very nice with an acoustic-electric. If you used it for a venue with an acoustic-electric, you would probably need to mic it. It didn't do well distorted, but the 6.5" speaker is not made for that. Although it has no reverb, delay, etc., I found that when I used an external reverb pedal the sound was really full. Considering the price and the fact that this is a limited edition, this is definitely worth buying.

Comments about Pathfinder 10 10W 1x6.5 Limited Edition Union Jack Guitar Combo Amp:

This is an excellent amp for small spaces. I've had Marshall, Fender, and Line 6 practice amps and I think this one is best. The sound quality is excellent even at the lowest, clean volume. The gain control really helps to adjust for perfect tone whether you're playing loud on a Saturday afternoon or as quiet as possible on a week night. Both the clean and drive channels sound great and it translates effects with the same fidelity as much larger, more powerful amps.

Comments about Vox Pathfinder 10 10W 1x6.5 Limited Edition Union Jack Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is very simple but sounds great. It is not very loud in the "normal" channel, but I don't need it to be loud as I bought it to practice and play at home. I previously used a Mustang 1 amp that had Amp modeling and effects. That was a good amp too but just not for me. I wanted something that was easy to use and I could play very clean when I wanted it to. If you are looking for a simple good sounding amp without all the special effects I would highly recommend this amp.

Blast up the overdrive and watch the "bulldog" sing. For a 10 w amp it sounds much louder .I guess its the bulldog speaker.the dials work in tandem .so monkey around until you find the tone you want!!

Comments about Vox Pathfinder 10 10W 1x6.5 Limited Edition Union Jack Guitar Combo Amp:

My favorite solid-state practice amps...and I've owned a slew of different ones over the last 40+ years...are Pignose PG-20s hot-rodded with Pyle PDMW6 or Eminence 6.5" 4-ohm drivers. Because I regularly beat up practice amps and then donate them to a local young musicians' charity before they're too far gone, I've become quite attached to the several 'hot Piggies' I've recently cycled through. Why? They're small, extra tough, and sound way better than any commodity solid-state amp should. Unfortunately, the PG-20 has now all but disappeared. What to do? Find the next best small amp.

In a loudness-compensated A-B comparison, the VOX Pathfinder, with its flimsy-looking OEM motor, sounds more like my 'hot Piggy' than any other commodity solid-state combo I've tried. That's reasonable praise, and as such, the Pathfinder is a keeper. Unfortunately, it's 5 watts short of average and 10 watts short of the PG-20. As a result, the output section 'works up a sweat' driving its OEM motor, and it doesn't have the guts to power a more robust speaker.

So here's my bottom line. If the Pathfinder had more power, I'd be in 5-star 'Piggy heaven'. But it doesn't, and I'm not. For me, it represents a 3-star effort by VOX. However, I gave it 4-stars because I'm an unusual customer and most players probably won't notice or care about my reservations. Oh, and did I mention that the British flag is really cool?

I think it's a great deal at the regular price, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy again if this one failed, which I don't expect.
