Main features
• Discrete circuitry - the result of a relentless design philosophy
• True bypass design provides tonal confidence even when the effect is off
• Tough die-cast body that stands up to the rigors of the road
• Newly developed Hi-Volt technology allows the tube to operate at 200V, even on battery power
• Gain control lets you adjust the tonal character
• Heater current's slow start circuit ensures vacuum tube longevity
• Controllable high-gain distortion that retains that retain the natural essence of your guitar
• Highly usable "Mid Shift" switch adds extra presences tonal definition

High-gain distortion with awe-inspiring tone
As befits the name "V-type 8-cylinder," this is a high-gain distortion unit that boasts an awe-inspiring tone. In addition to distortion sounds that are ideal for heavy riffs or soloing, you can also obtain cutting high-gain lead sounds. It provides a mid-shift switch that lets you change the band where the mid-range peaks. Turning this off gives you a broad range with an emphasized attack. Turning it on will shift the band to be more suitable for lead playing.

Newly-developed Hi-Volt technology that overturns expectations for compact effect units.

Hi-Volt technology enables the vacuum tube to operate at 200V while still running on a battery. This enables a true tube-driven sound that overturns your expectations for a compact effect unit.

What is Hi-Volt?
VOX has revealed a new vacuum tube circuit technology called Hi-Volt. It delivers high voltage (200V) to a 12AX7 vacuum tube by using 6x AA batteries or the DC9V power supply.

The discrete circuit works at 20V, which is still considered high voltage operation compared to other general effects products. The result is a natural and dynamic tone which is similar to that of a vacuum tube amplifier. Even though vacuum tubes are considered big by modern component size standards, our engineers were able to keep these pedals small, so you don't have to worry about them taking up too much space on your pedal board.

Gain control that lets you vary the character of your sound
The transistor amplification circuit has also received a good deal of consideration. We've designed the gain control so that adjusting its position does not simply change the amplitude, but will also change the tonal character in a subtle way. From zero to max, it yields an array of highly usable and natural distortion tones.

Carefully designed power supply circuit that extends vacuum tube lifespan
Since high current flows through a vacuum tube when the power is turned on, we have provided a heater current slow start circuit that extends the lifespan of the vacuum tube and also avoids malfunctions for the AC adapter.

Don't step on your pedal and think to yourself, "Man, I could have had a V8." Order today.

Comments about Vox Tone Garage V8 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have tried dozens of distortion pedal from affordable basics to hyper-expensive boutique pedal and this is the best sounding distortion pedal I've ever used or tried. With the real tube in it (which you can even change, just like an amp to vary the distortion character), all discrete components, true bypass and versatile controls you can go from crunch all the way to searing lead tones. I have a Tube Screamer and can adjust this to sound almost exactly like that but also get great full range overdrive tones as well as the great distortion. Don't be put off by the odd pedal design - it's large to accommodate the tube and batteries - this pedal is amazing. I don't know why Vox isn't promoting it better. And the videos, even from Vox, are awful and show little of what you can do with this. You won't be disappointed. Don't think of it just as a distortion pedal - it's an over drive, boost, crunch and all the way to metal distortion box.

Comments about Vox Tone Garage V8 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have many distortion pedals, and this one is my go to. Whether it be with a Strat, or a Les Paul, I can dial in everything from Blues Rock to Metal/Hard Rock. Very powerful pedal, and the Mid Shift switch is a killer bonus. VOX nailed it with this one. Thank you for a rip, roaring pedal worthy the name "V-8"

Comments about Vox Tone Garage V8 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I use this pedal more than the overdrive channel on my amp right now. I like that it has a bass control since a lot of distortion pedals don't. It gives a nice punch to the high notes with a crunch setting. I only keep the overdrive at about 2 o'clock and I get all of the harmonics I personally would want. Perfect for hard rock and metal. You can even get a nice bluesy tone. This pedal won't be leaving my board any time soon.

Comments about Vox Tone Garage V8 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a great sounding affordable pedal. I have a lot of OD/distortion pedals (tube and non tube) and I find tube pedals sound best. They're more dynamic and sound more amp like. This pedal is not quite as dynamic as my H & K tube factor(not many are) but has a better tone and is more versatile. The mid shift is just perfect. Not too much, just right. This has more than enough gain for most players. I play hard rock and this suits my style perfectly. There's a reason this pedal gets stellar reviews - it sounds great. There aren't too many great sounding tube pedals in this price range and even less used so do yourself a favor and pick one up while you still can. I have a feeling these won't be available much longer. Cheers

Comments about Vox Tone Garage V8 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Was eyeballing this pedal for a couple years, finally scored it on a promotion here. Pedal is Japanese-made and has a Vox branded 12AX7 tube (likely Chinese, but whatevs). This pedal can push more gain than even the deathiest of metallers would want, and with the gain rolled off you can get some seriously good overdrive tones. The mid switch is pretty key to the tone of this pedal, I'd say the switch off is good for a rhythm tone and it's a better lead tone with it on. The fact that it has a Tone knob and then a pot completely dedicated to the bass is genius. So many people these days are rocking lunchbox amps loaded with EL84's and 6V6 power tubes that can't quite push the bass without having to dime it on the EQ, and this pedal definitely helps (tried it out of a H&K Grandmeister 36 and a Princeton Reverb). Also people looking to get a decent tube tone out of a solid state amp will benefit from this pedal, as I played it out of my Crate Power Block and it worked quite nicely for that (used to use a Power Block as my live rig and ran a tube preamp into it). Would buy again, definitely recommend over any other general overdrive or distortion pedals, obviously this isn't going to replace a bit crusher, a noisebox, or fuzz pedal, but as an overdrive or distortion pedal it's pretty good. Pretty, pretty good.

Comments about Vox Tone Garage V8 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This compares favorably with the Blackstar HT-DIST, which I also have. This is a bit more "fizzy" than the HT-DIST, so you may want to try both to find what best suits your style. I've seen some disparaging internet comments about the looks of this pedal, but I love it! It's the sound that counts anyway. As far as durability, I'll let you know in a few months, but I've always had good luck with Vox gear.
