OVERVIEW

An updated version of one of the most famous guitar effects pedals of all time.

The Vox V845 Classic Wah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal is based on the specifications of the original pedal developed by VOX in the '60s. The V845 Wah-Wah offers guitarists the same legendary Wah-Wah tone in a new sturdy but very affordable design. The fitted AC power connector saves on batteries and the outer case is coated with tough all-black finish making the VOX Classic Wah-Wah a perfect choice for your pedal board.

VOX developed the world's first Wah Wah effect during the '60s to give guitarists the ability to sound like a trumpet being muted-an important musical ingredient of the day. VOX's original Wah Wah pedal quickly gained widespread popularity and its unique sonic characteristics have encouraged further experimentation by guitarists ever since.

This a great wah overall. If you only use it occasionally like me this is the one to go for. You don't need a lot of extra features. It's solid and sounds great. It's got a higher pitch than the originally crybaby so it cuts through other instruments better. I will say that if you leave it on your pedalboard turned off it DOES suck tone. I swear I can still hear the wah but it my be my mind playing tricks. The same happens with the Dunlop Crybaby though. I would mod it for true bypass. Very Cheap and easy. Also the on/off switch is really hard. I weigh 145 lbs and I really have to put my weight into it. May not be a problem for everyone.
This is a basic wah. You have the pedal rocker and the on/off switch. That's all you get for $70, same as the Crybaby but really that's all you need. The sweep range is the same as the Crybaby but over all a little higher pitch. It would be nice if it had a true bypass but it's not hard to modify it yourself but regardless its great for the price.
In my opinion the quality is excellent! It's feels like a tank. There's nothing loose when you shake it. I expect mine to last for years.
Overall this is a great value. This is the best priced Wah pedal on the market for sound quality along with the original Crybaby. It does the job right and I think it was worth my $70.

I would say that with this wah, you get what you pay for. I never use much wah in my pedal chain, but I figured I would add one at a low cost. My main amp is a Vox AC15 and I use Vox Premium Cables, so I figured why not go with a Vox wah? I grabbed this one and it sounds okay. Nothing special. Good vintage vibe - meaning it's basic and classic sounding. Within a few weeks I clicked it on and noticed a lot of pot noise (scratching noises coming from the potentiometer). It could have been from my lack of playing it... but it's practically useless. I've had it for over a year and it's been bypassed on my pedal board (THERE IS NO TRUE BYPASS - I JUST ROUTED AROUND IT). I am going to tear into it and use some contact cleaner to clean it up.

With this product, I believe the issue is poor quality parts.

You get what you pay for. Not bad until the noises.

Comments about Vox V845 Classic Wah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

Since purchasing the Wah pedal, I've only tinkered at home with it. I had not used one for a few decades and really enjoyed using it and playing some old songs with it. I plan to incorporate it into the set list on a few songs.

Have been playing for a long time...chose this pedal because the crybabies kept breaking down too quickly. It has a comparative sound to the crybaby..but the housing is a little less sturdy.I use it mostly as a tone pedal as it gives a nice quality to overdriven leads.

This was my first pedal ever, and I still use it. It has a really powerful wah and is firm but for my opinion goes to high. It also almost moves cheap, but still has an overall good feel.

Comments about Vox V845 Classic Wah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

This wah has been an utter disappointment. It sounded ok out of the box; certainly nothing life-changing. Over time, however, it sounded worse and worse, until now where it adds more static than effect to my signal. The entire sweep is also concentrated in a very small region of the rocker - it was terribly difficult to get a good sound even when it was working properly. It's built like a tank, but that's about all it's got going for it.

Comments about Vox V845 Classic Wah Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you have come across my other reviews you will notice I love sales, particularly for effects; I never seem to by them unless they are on sale. Same is true here. I had a Crybaby for many years that died a while ago and I had always meant to replace it but never got around to it. Then I found this on sale. Not only was it on sale but Vox was giving a rebate as well so, in the end, I paid less than half price.

This is just what the name implies, a no frills classic wah. Not an the extreme modern wah favored by today's shredders or the funk wah of the '70's but the classic '60's wah of Jimi and Co. I am normally very careful with my gear and baby it but this pedal has had a lot of mishaps; dropped on a hard floor twice, tripped over by a 300 lb tech crewman and kicked across and over the side of the stage. It still works and has barely a scuff to show for the abuse.

Does the job. Does not do well with other pedals or effects. Works great clean...not so much with anything else. It's good overall and a nice change from the Cry Baby.

Bought this for my son who is a good player. We are happy with it. It is pretty sensitive (a lot of tone variation for a little foot movement) but once you get used to it you like all the performance range. Sound quality is really good. I like this one better than the crybaby I used to have.
