For the price - You get a great Vox wah. One thing to keep in mind about the Vox wah is that they're more of a vintage reissue type of a pedal. They're not a modern "game-changer" in terms of how they handle high gain signal chains. With that being said:

I own the v847a as well as the v845 and I can tell just by holding the two that the v847 is a more rigid pedal. Then, the switch operates much, much smoother. I have to stomp the v845 through my pedal board in order to get the switch to engage. The v847a switch can easily be engaged from a sitting position... no struggle.

It is NOT true bypass, which is a draw back but Vox did include a signal buffer stage that tries to reduce tone-drain when the pedal is disengaged. If you're running this with just a few other pedals you shouldn't have to worry about much tone loss. Let's get real, unless you're running a long signal chain - you don't NEED true bypass... it's just something that people clamor for based on the negetive conotation it's given.

Some don't like the treble in the sweep... You can adjust the sweep of any wah by adjusting the gear position a little more on the bass side of the potentiometer... I actually did this to my v845 once I put this pedal on my pedal board. This gives me two different voicings of the Vox wah.

For the money... it's probably the best traditional Wah.

I have now had two of these pedals. The first one I bought had to get fixed because of a all the noise it created when I used it and they couldn't fix the pedal at the store so they sent it back to the manufacturer. the manufacturer then sent me a replacement which has started to make the exact same noise. I have learned now that if a pedal says made in china, it that it is absolute garbage and don't waste your money on it. all other pedals i own made in the U.S.A. work fine and I haven't had an issue with any of them.

I'm very pleased with my Vox wah. I like it better than my Dunlop original Crybaby wah. The Vox is cleaner sounding and has a better sweep. Give it a try.

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

The key to this pedal is where to place it in your particular effects pedal chain. This is all decided by how your own gear responds. I tried the Jimi up front placement first (right after the tuner) and it was not correct. But, after placing after the distortion pedals and before the chorus, reverb, delay pedals, voila! - there it is. There's an art to using these (like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time - but with good coordination -- so a careful foot really helps glide this thing home. Nice nice pedal - and good price. Love it. Also, seeing the word "VOX" when you look down is an added bonus ;]

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

I've been playing for 45 years and needed a new wah-wah as the Dunlop Cry Baby I have died on me. I had this same pedal back in the 70's and made the mistake of selling it at one point. Looked at other pedals but I remembered I always liked this one so I bought it again. I play out with a blues/classic rock band a couple times a month and this one works great. Rugged and gives me the tone and sound I like. If you need a wah-wah this is the one you want, you won't be disappointed.

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

Very nice pedal. Better than most of the vox's within the last 10-20 years.. However if you're looking for more of that vintage sound like the original v846, this is lacking.. If you compare this one to the original v846 it's apples and oranges.. however this one is much clearer and crisper. if you're looking for that original sound and have the soldering skills, you can install a new whipple inductor and it sounds pretty close then. just my 2 cents.

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

I have had this wah for almost 2 years now, I love the sound it has and the sweep is extremely smooth and not to sharp, this is fantastic for being used with a clean signal as well as with a good overdrive sound, its so versatile. can't say enough!
This pedal itself is fantastic, the only problem I have (witch is miniscule) is that there is no indicator as to weather the effect is turned on.
This thing is built like a tank, because of people dropping it and hauling it to gigs this thing has been through heck and it still performs flawlessly, as a good pedal should.
I have played much more expensive wahs that I was disappointed in, in comparison. The price of this could easily be far higher and I would still buy it over others.

                .
I just bought this pedal and it is far better than the cry baby i had prior. It sounds great on clean and with overdrive. I use a gibson les paul, thru a fender tube 100 watt amp and the sound is killer. Other times i switch to my fender strat and the sound is close to that of the 1960 guitar gods that made VOX what it is today.
Love the chrome and the case it came with.

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

This is one of my favorite pedals. I have a multi-effects unit that has an expression pedal but I only use it for volume. After 30 years of playing, I have never had any kind of pedal that is so simple yet sound so sweet.
I give it a 10 simply because, unlike other wah pedals I have used, there is no adjusting or tweaking to get the sound you want. Just plug it in and step on it and that classic sound is there
I am very rough on this thing. This is the second one of these I have owned only because the first was dropped by the truck and I didn't notice it and I ran over it with the truck.
You just can't beat the bang for the buck.
