Built for the demands of the modern rock player.

The AD100VT-XL combo amp is part of the VOX Valvetronix XL line, an exciting range of tube-powered modeling amplifiers that delivers the power and punch that modern rock players require, with a selection of hi-gain sounds that span the entire range of heavy rock music.

The Vox AD100VT-XL guitar amplifier includes:

Eleven amp sounds. Sophisticated modeling technology is used to provide eleven different amps, including classic vintage amps of the past, costly, modern high-end amps and high-gain hybrids, all accessible at the turn of a knob. These models include Glass, modeled on the Clean channel of a collectable 100-Watt head named the Overdrive Special; Funked, modeled on a classic American black-faced 2x12 combo; Buzzsaw, inspired by the British-made 50-Watt head that created the sounds of '70s hard rock and metal; Crunched, based on a very rare modded VOX AC30/6TBX Top Boost combo, adding hot-rodded gain levels and EQ; Thrashed, modeled on a 1983, all tube, single channel, master volume 100-Watt head; Raged, based on the high gain channel of a modern, all-tube 100 Watt amp, with boosted bass and mid frequencies and even more gain; Modern, a still higher gain modification to the "Modern High Gain" channel, with scooped EQ; Fluid, the UK Modern setting with maximum gain and mid-range EQ, modified to emphasize a vocal-like tone for legato-style playing; Molten, based on VOX's US Hi-Gain model but capable of even more powerful, heavily saturated sounds, with an Octave effect mixed into the preset; Black, a version of the UK Modern mutated to Class A, rather than Class AB; and Damaged, rooted in VOX's US Hi-Gain model with more gain and a completely re-voiced and modified EQ to be thicker and darker.

Eleven high-quality effects are built in, including compressor, delay, reverb, compressor & chorus, compressor & phaser, chorus & delay, chorus & reverb, flanger & reverb, tremolo & reverb, and rotary & reverb, plus Noise Reduction. New for the XL series is an Octave effect for massive lead tones. Effect parameters are fully adjustable and a Tap button makes it easy to set your delay time or modulation speed.

Store amp and effect settings. Store your favorite amp and effect settings as a program, containing two different settings (CH1 and CH2). Switch between these settings from the top panel, or by using the optional VFS2 foot switch connected to the rear panel. In addition, there is a preset program for each amp type.

Manual mode. In Manual mode the sound you hear reflects the physical settings of the knobs. You're in control. Connect an optional VFS2 dual foot switch (sold separately) to switch programs or bypass effects. A power level control adjusts the output wattage of the power amp. This means that even when the master volume is turned up all the way to drive the Valve Reactor power amp, you can adjust the volume without losing any tone.

  • Number of amp types: 11
  • Number of effects: 11
  • Noise reduction: 1
  • Number of programs: 11 preset, 2 channel
  • Input/output jacks: Top panel: 1 x INPUT, Rear panel: 1 x FOOT SW jack,

Comments about Vox Valvetronix AD100VT-XL 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This was my second Amp that I ever bought and I shopped around for a few years. I wanted an amp that I could use at home for practice and on stage for worship. I passed this one by in the music store and played on it several times. I liked the tone but I was worried about playing it in an apartment because it had a lot of power. Then it was pointed out to me the power knob on the back! You can adjust the power level down to 10amps and up to the 100 that it advertises with out changing the tone (the advantage of a hybrid amp) I bought it then and there. The modeling on this amp is great though I don't use many of the different models other than clean and I flop back and forth between the "US High Gain" and "UK Modern" I personally don't go for the semi-saturated sound. The effects won't replace an expression pedal but the compressor gives a great over-the-top feel. The only problem that I had with it is the Tube was going out when I got it, but the store replaced it at no charge with a new one. Now that others mention it, it does have a bit of noise. I haven't put a new tube in it since I bought it. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to drive external speakers and it's own at the same time so you can make a 3/4 stack out of it, but it does have an "out" for speakers. The input plug unscrewed with just regular use and I worried that it would break, (the new version solved this) I'm sure it would be an easy fix, but I'm lazy and in Iraq for now, so what can you do? Best amp that I ever owned and half the price? Get it Now!

Comments about Vox Valvetronix AD100VT-XL 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I recently got this amp. One word...WOW. This thing has everything you need. The 11 presets are simply amazing. I purchased the 100 watt and every watt is accounted for as this thing is LOUD. I rarely raise the Master above 2.5. The best thing about this amp is the Watt control on the back. You can setup the amp to produce output anywhere from 2.5 to 100 watts. This allows you to set up the amp in a small room, lower the wattage and still push the valves to the limit. The more you push it, the better it sounds. I love the looks as I was not much of a fan of the old chrome metal front look. It is still metal, but the black looks much better. My ONLY gripe is the knobs. All Vox amps use these pointed knobs that are never properly alligned with the effect. This is nothing but cosmetic, but I prefer round knobs as a Marshall has. The effects are cool, and sound good. If you are looking for a great AMP that will dial in various tones, this is it. I can't comment on the quality yet as the amp is still fairly new, but it seems to be built very well. The 100 watt is heavy but Vox attached three carry strap to the top for one hand or two hand moves.Overall great amp.

I just got this amp today and it is actually what anyone looking to keep it simple but FULLY capable! This guitar is as loud as a half stack but half the size, has great sound and tone(really sounds all tube!) and is cheap as dirt! This is the best amp short of a Wall of marshall cabs and heads! (but we all cant be superstars=])and the clean is so crisp!

Extremely versatile and has it all.Tube sound, built in modeling effects, effects loop and external speaker jack. You are in complete control to bring forth the sound you want and love. The wattage control knob is were the real magic is, turn down the watts to have that full warm tube sound at low practice room volume or crank it up to jam with the band. From warm rich clean to all out metal and everything in between. Solid built with excellent craftsmanship and pride, VOX delivers !

The tone on this amp is awesome! You get a true tube sound at half the price. I used the line out to record and the sound couldn't have been better if I mic'd it. Nothing about it sounds solid state. Loud enough for gigs.

For a knock-off of the UK versions,it offers great value. The 12ax7 electro harmonix tube that is Russian made, had to be replaced as it produced noise and drop-outs. Put in a PM High Gain 12AX7, problem solved. Having it appart, I saw no sign of poor workmanship.

Comments about Vox Valvetronix AD100VT-XL 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I just got the AD100VT-XL combo yesterday, and I must say I'm impressed. The tone of this thing goes from sweet and chimey to thick and distorted(understatement)with the tweeking of a couple knobs. The effects are pretty good too. Not too big on the rotary though. The power is great especially with the amperage limiter knob on the back(even more control with the volume and master)! The only thing lacking here are some caster wheels because this thing is HEAVY. This is a good all-around amp whether it be for personal practice or for performance(Line out for an 8ohm cab!) So again I say kudos to vox. Just be sure when you buy this amp to also get the VFS2 footswitch(its a must for live). You won't regret it.

Comments about Vox Valvetronix AD100VT-XL 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've owned this amp over 2 months now, and i love it to death! Its extremely versatile, the clean tones are so crisp and smooth, and the distorted tones just destroy! The sound is so thick and colossal. I used to struggle to be heard in my band, but now i can easily drown out my friends and their stacks. I would recommend this amp to anyone who wants quality and versatility, with plenty of power to back them up in live settings. It's also good for quietly playing at home. BUY ONE!!
