OVERVIEW

Overdrive for lovers of the original bluesy grooves of the Deep South.

At the crossroads of Highway 61 and Junction 49 lies the official crossroads of Clarksdale, Mississippi - the birthplace of the Delta Blues. This historic town, and the famous music that was created there, is responsible for the inspiration behind this pedal - The Clarksdale Overdrive.

Blues and non-blues guitar players have used Tube Screamer-type circuits for years to help them create their own signature sound. Over the years, countless players have been asking Brian Wampler to create that world-famous vintage mid-range overdrive, and with The Clarksdale Overdrive, he finally did it.

The Clarksdale is Wampler' take on that renowned lime green overdrive many of us have come to love - with a few great Wampler-styled improvements. The world of boutique pedals is filled with lots of great clones of that already famous circuit“ so what else could be done?

Brian wanted to create a pedal that would be true to the sound and feel of the original but would have a wider range of tonal options - to satisfy even the biggest tone chasers out there. The addition of a 3-band EQ (Bass, Mids, and Treble) allows a player to have a more tailored tonal pallet than the original. The Lift/ Smooth switch will also allow a player to either sit in the mix with the Smooth setting or allow your leads to standout with the Lift option. Also, unlike the original "green giant", the Clarksdale will not "fizz out" as much at low or high-gain settings.

The Clarksdale has one foot in the past and one foot firmly planted in the future.

Comments about Wampler Clarksdale Delta Overdrive Pedal:

If you're an "808-type" circuit fan, THIS is the pedal. If you're not, it's still an absolutely killer overdrive and worth having - even if you have several, like me. Smooth to gritty, open to compressed, 3-band active EQ, professional build-quality. I'm convinced this pedal will do everything you might want in an OD.

Comments about Wampler Clarksdale Delta Overdrive Pedal:

I like the way the guitar still sounds the same but with the added effect. Many of the other pedals I've used totally change the sound of your instrument. This is just like the review in the Wampler videos.

Comments about Wampler Clarksdale Delta Overdrive Pedal:

When I bought this pedal I was looking for a pedal to back up my Tech 21 British pedal. However the sound is very weak and really not responsive. The Sans Amp pedal (British) still is the best overall pedal I own. Sent the Clarksdale back to Musicians Friend and will try another.

Comments about Wampler Clarksdale Delta Overdrive Pedal:

The Clarksdale knocked my favorite green overdrive down to a distant second place. For better than a decade, I've relayed heavily on the same 808-type overdrive. I've tried other dirt pedals, but that one remained my favorite. However, the Clarksdale is considerably better sounding and much more versatile.

The TS-style overdrive I have loved for so long is best when coupled with an amp that is overdriven or on the verge of overdrive. As a stand-alone effect, it can be kind of stale. The Clarksdale, on the other hand, is smooth and warm sounding even on its own.

Also, the 3-band EQ is a huge plus for me. It allows me to add a little more thickness to my Strat tone. And I can see it being very useful when I am forced to play through unfamiliar amps.

The smooth-lift switch doesn't do a whole lot for me; I leave it on "lift" and use my guitars volume and tone controls to smooth it out when necessary.

Overall, I highly recommend this overdrive for lovers of that traditional 'screamer sound.
