OVERVIEW

A tape echo/delay that gives you the best of analog and digital in one.

The Faux Tape Echo delay has become a staple in Nashville and beyond, from masterful session guitarists to studio "house sound" collections and of course seen on stages worldwide! Based around very carefully selected and very rigorously tested PT2399 delay chips, the Faux Analog Echo and Faux Tape Echo circuits combine the note clarity of a sophisticated digital delay with an all-analog dry path (unaffected signal) and magnificent all-analog tone-shaping and modulation circuitry.

What does that actually mean for musicians? The answer: everything. With Wampler's hybrid design approach, you get the best of both worlds. You get note clarity, lower noise, and longer delay times from digital delays. You get the lovely warmth and little, exquisite touches that are usually reserved for analog delays. Nearly every part of the pedal and all of its major functions are analog. The "delay line" is the only digital part of the signal path. It alone being digital brings clarity and focus to the task in a way that analog delay line chips can't really match.

But everything else, all the absolutely vital filtering to carefully finish the sound is pure analog. Every aspect of the modulation that gives the Faux Tape Echo pedal a unique function and tone and makes it desirable for people who want their delay tone to sound as good as tape delay units but without all the maintenance, supplies, and hassle? Totally analog. Your all-important fundamental dry tone is 100% analog, too.

From country slap-back to ambient washes to straight-ahead rock and metal delay, the hybrid approach makes one pedal that can do it all.

This new version of the Faux Tape Echo takes everything great about the original, and adds to it that much-requested tap tempo functionality that users have asking for, as well as a new idea in emulating the elusive and beautiful character that people look for in classic tape echo units. The time has come to unveil the Faux Tape Echo that everyone has been waiting for.

Comments about Wampler Faux Tape Echo/Delay With Tap Tempo Guitar Effects Pedal:

I love delay especially on my leads. This delay sounds so warm and organic. It adds to your tone in so many ways over other lifeless delays that I have used. I keep 3 pedal boards and I'm ordering this one for my other two as well.

Comments about Wampler Faux Tape Echo/Delay With Tap Tempo Guitar Effects Pedal:

I LOVE this pedal. It is by far the best delay pedal I've ever used. In fact, it's right up there with the best effects I've ever used. It produces warm, round tones and the modulation helps to separate the background (delays) from the foreground, thereby creating a sense of richness and depth to what I'm playing. Basically, it fills out my sound without stepping on what I'm playing, and the tone is absolutely incredible. I was considering a Line 6 DL4 or a Boss DD-20, but I came to the realization that I'd probably didn't need all the options, considering that I'd more than likely just settle on one sound anyway. The Wampler Tape Echo is that sound, and I couldn't be happier with it.

Comments about Wampler Faux Tape Echo/Delay With Tap Tempo Guitar Effects Pedal:

Replaced a deluxe memory boy on my board. It's not quiet as warm but it's very close. It's transparent, works off standard Boss type power, has plenty of control, and tap tempo. Set correctly it doesn't get in the way, almost like a dynamic or "ducking" delay. Very pleased with it so far.

Comments about Wampler Faux Tape Echo/Delay With Tap Tempo Guitar Effects Pedal:

OK, first thing - Echos are NOT delays. Completely different animals. Now that we have that covered...This bad-boy is awesome. The tap-tempo function is like, "Where have you been all my life?" Just count off the song or while the drummer stick-clicks and BAM!, you're set. No guess-work - no error possible unless y'all are a bunch of hacks and can't keep a beat. I SOOOO needed this 30 years ago.

As to the "tape" simulation aspect, I don't even utilize it. You can for some weird, vintage sound you really wanna capture, but for day-to-day playing it is kinda useless. The Echo pedal itself though? Flipping priceless!! I really meant all 5 stars.

The first one I bought had a problem. Sent it back to MF and got the second one. This one is great. Clean and great tone. I had been using a DD3 for years.

You won't notice the hiss on this otherwise stellar unit unless you are not playing. The tap tempo switch is really responsive and the tape warble knobs give you plenty of room to find what works. My only issue is that this pedal adds too much noise.
