OVERVIEW

A new spin on the Plexi-Drive Standard from the '60s upgraded for the modern layer looking for that classic overdrive Brit Invasion sound.

Since the early '60s, Marshall Amplifiers have lead the way in rock tones with its legendary tight overdrive and coveted bass response. Early rock legends such as: Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Cream, and AC/DC helped lead the way in creating some of the most iconic rock tones ever produced and catapulted Marshall into rock legendary status.

The Plexi-Drive Deluxe is a direct descendent of the Plexi-Drive Standard but with a few upgraded features. Like the original, the Plexi-Drive Deluxe unique gain structure can take you from bluesy style 18-watt Marshall tones to the all out massive rock tones of a JTM-45 cranked to ten, or even eleven.

With the addition of an all-new active 3-band Bass/Mids/Treble EQ stack “ you can now have even more tonal control. With the bass boost option, you can emulate the feeling of the low-end thump of a 4x12" cabinet (or two) at the flick of a switch. The bass boost will allow you to dial in your low end at lower volume gigs or at bedroom volume levels. Along with the bass switch, there's a bright switch to add highs - which makes changing from bright to dark guitars a breeze. The Plexi-Drive Deluxe also features a one knob, pre-gain boost soft click switch that is voiced like that "famous overdrive with pronounced mids" - to help push your leads in to overdrive.

To this day, the original Plexi-Drive is still one Brian' favorite pedals and never left his personal pedal board. For a man who is said to be never satisfied with his tone, the Plexi-Drive has stayed with him throughout and is still inspiring him gig after gig, the Deluxe is taking on that tradition and running with it.

The Plexi-Drive Deluxe will fill your Marshall void and give you the crunch, response, boost and feeling that your rig begs for. Whether you are playing sold out shows or rocking out by yourself “ the Plexi-Drive Deluxe will take your tone and allow you to create your own flavor of rock! Your search for the perfect M.I.A.B. (Marshall in a Box) can finally be over.

Comments about Wampler Plexi-Drive Deluxe British Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've owned and used many overdrive / distortion pedals in many prices ranges; this is by far among the best. It is very well made and sounds FANTASTIC.
The Plexi-Drive Deluxe has a wide range of drive control, from subtle bluesy grit through sweet rock crunch and all the way to cranked-up amp-like singing distortion. It has two separate independent sides, which can be used independently or together. The left side is a very natural organic and amp-like crunch, while the right side sounds like one of those famous green distortion pedals. Engage both together and, to my surprise my humbucker-equipped guitar not only sang out with incredible sustain, but wanted to soar into feedback with only the smallest encouragement from me.
This is one OUTSTANDING pedal, sweet and at a very reasonable price, too. Wampler has a winner here.

Comments about Wampler Plexi-Drive Deluxe British Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've heard this pedal on many reviews and in most cases it sounds very good. You really need to use a good quality tube amp's clean channel to get the best tone what it is made for. I just can't see using an expensive pedal like this when you have a nice quality amp head. For instance, fortunately for me I have several high quality tube amp heads. 1974 Marshall MKII 50w. Now why wouldn't I want to use my amp's own high gain with natural distortion? Well for most it's the weight of the amp head and the fact that the pedal is portable, light and can give you a good simulation of the old school sound of the famed plexi-style amps of old.

This isn't always true. There will never be the same tone with these new boutique pedals like the roar of an over-driven classic tune amp. Not to say they are not worth investigating. It just didn't it cut it for me.
