OVERVIEW

Rack-mountable tone machine with loads of features.

The Warwick WA300 bass head offers 300W of useable power, and has great, useful features for the stage, studio or bedroom.

It features a two-way EQ for bass and treble, as well as a switchable 10-band equalizer for fine-tuning your tone. It also houses two inputs for active or passive basses, a balanced output for recording or direct feeds to a PA system, an FX loop and a headphone output. It's sized to be mounted in a rack setup, but it works equally well as a single unit running to a mixing board or a speaker cab.

Power: 300W
Two inputs for active or passive basses
Line out with ground-lift switch
FX loop
Headphone output
19" size for rack-mounting

Comments about Warwick WA300 300W Bass Head:

I bought this head to pair it with a Eden 410 and the sound is amazing. Plenty of power with 0 distortion due to the Class A circuitry. I gig a lot with different bands and versatility is a must for me, this head does the job wonderfully. The built-in EQ and compressor are a big plus. The only drawback for me is the weight but i put on a rack and move it on top of my wheeled cabinet.

Some eccentricities, but basically a solid amp

Comments about Warwick WA300 300W Bass Head:

Some of the switches are wired so that they are "On" when pointing down and "Off" when pointing up, which is quite strange. Also, the power switch is on the back of the unit, which can be cumbersome if the amp is mounted in a rack. My biggest disappointment concerns the rack mount kit, which included only 2 brackets and no screws whatsoever. I did not expect Warwick to supply the screws to mount the amp in a rack, but I DID expect them to supply the screws to mount the brackets to the amp, and was absolutely amazed to discover they did not. Adding insult to injury, the manual does not even tell you what size screws to use for this purpose. At first I tried standard #8 screws because they appeared to be the right size, but the threads were wrong. I finally determined I needed to use size M4 (metric) screws (which I should have guessed since this product is made in Germany). Would it have killed Warwick to supply 40 cents worth of screws? This really rubs me the wrong way. On the plus side, the Aux input is very useful since I use it to run bass pedals through the amp at the same time as bass guitar. Also, I am impressed by the compressor, which seems to be very well-designed and easy to adjust to get just the right amount of limiting.
