Comments about Zoom B2 Bass Multi-Effects Pedal:
Alright, I really love my B2 pedal. I get my tone from my bass and amp. That being said, I use this little guy to add flavor to my tone for certain situations where I need to spruce up a part. The amp modeling and cabinet models give you a ton of combinations to dial in a good sound on your rig or recording while the effects and amp models are blendable with the dry signal so you can really get the sound you are looking for. I programmed the first patch to be a bypass patch with everything off rather than needing to click both buttons for bypass mode. This is the only multi I have used where when I turned off all the effects and such, it actually sounds clean and doesn't color my sound. BIG plus in my book. Switching between patches is also easy, quick, and noiseless. I would recommend this pedal to anyone. If you want a volume control/wah and usb, buy the big brother. If not, this little pedal will provide you with tons of inspiration.
First off this thing has a ton of features and control tweaks. It also has a good tuner on it. I gave it an 8 because it has a bigger brother with more features like a footpedal and usb out.
It is built solid. Metal housing with good solid feeling footswitches. I would have given it a 10 but I have seen stuff built a little tougher, but not much.
As far as bang for the buck, definitely worth it. It has so many useful effects on it and is very tweakable making it well worth the asking price.
Comments about Zoom B2 Bass Multi-Effects Pedal:
Again, it's really important to read through the manual to get the idea of this pedal in order to appreciate it. Zoom's website allows you to download the manual and hear sample sounds. I highly recommend doing so. If you need a quality pedal on a tight budget, this may be the pedal for you.
I really like this pedal, it sounds great through the sound system. I recommend it.
This pedal has programming capabilities, drum rhythms, a tap feature, and a tuner. It runs on 4 AA batteries, but comes WITH the AC adapter.
There's 40 preset patches that can't be altered. There's also an additional 40 preset patches that can be altered or reprogrammed (they're an initial copy of the non alterable presets). Therefore, you can create your own sounds and there's quite a bit to work with and dial in.
I'm used to my KORG analog tuner, but the tuner on this unit seems to be fairly accurate. It's a muted tuner, so it's a nice feature if you have to tune on the fly during a set.
There's several styles of rhythms (blues, jazz, Latin, etc) to use while practicing, recording, etc. They sound pretty good for what they are.
I haven't delved into the tap feature, so I don't know much about it.
What's especially good about this pedal is that it's made of steel and it's very strong and rugged. The feel of the unit isn't cheesy or cheap. Some care went into the mechanical construction.
The various effects are pretty good, but it's really, really essential that you read through the manual first and get the idea of how this pedal programs and operates. It is my first pedal, so it wasn't intuitive to me until I completely read the manual. Before that, it was a little confusing, but that could be because it was my first multi effects pedal.
The pedal is really quiet, no static, pops, etc.
Like many, this pedal has some great effects like the various amp cabinets and basic sounds (compression, limiter, chorus, reverb, delay, EQ, etc) and some really strange sounds that would probably be used in a cafe on Mars, but all the sounds have a quality feel to them, and there are adjustable parameters for each sound. You can link sounds, but can only use one sound in a category. For Example, the compressor & limiter are in 1 category and the chorus is in another, so you can link the compressor to chorus, or limiter to chorus, but not compressor to limiter.
This pedal is really hard to beat for the money. It's small, rugged, and fairly easy to operate. There's some really good sounds on this unit. If you program your own sounds (or even copy the preset sounds to new locations in the programmable area), you can minimize the number of pedal clicks to get to the sound you want. The guitar player in my band looks like he's doing a hat dance just to make basic changes on his pedal. I don't have to do that due to the programming capabilities.
Comments about Zoom B2 Bass Multi-Effects Pedal:
The pedal and buttons are all steel and very sturdy. Solid construction. Programming the pedal isn't very intuitive. It's not a 'pull it out of the box and start using it' pedal. It's really important to read the instructions to see how this pedal sets up. Once you do, it's very easy to work with. The different modes and sounds are really good. Like all pedals, it has weird sounds that you'll probably never use, but the more mainstream effects are good. It has a muted tuner, drum beats, and some other goodies. The tuner is pretty good for a digital tuner. I recommend getting the foot switch accessory with it to switch between effects. Makes things much easier. The B2 is a good unit, overall. Doubt you'll be disappointed. Hard to beat for the money.
Comments about Zoom B2 Bass Multi-Effects Pedal:
ZOOM has REALLY stepped up their game over the past several years. I needed a way to lay down GREAT bass tracks in my home studio and gave this unit a shot on a whim and I sure didn't expect much from a little box for under $100. Don't let the price fool you; this unit couldn't possibly sound any better! My recorded bass tracks through the B2 honestly sound as good as any miked bass amp rig costing thousands of dollars! Unbelievable! The best money I've ever spent!
