Zoom

67 Stage-ready effects, 30 types of authentic drive tones, and direct recording to your computer.

The Zoom G1u uses parameters such as gain setting range and harmonics component characteristics to convincingly recreate 20 types of guitar amps and stomp boxes. And there are 10 original drive types settings as well, producing quality sound and dynamic presence.

USB for direct recording to your computer
Simply hooking up the G1u to a computer with a USB cable turns it into an audio interface. The direct monitoring design eliminates any latency problems, allowing the real amp sound to carry through into the recording. Now you can get your own tone no matter where you are. Whether you're practicing, performing or recording, the G1u has endless tone possibilities for any style of playing.

67 Stage-ready Effects
Eight modules offer a collection of 67 different effects that can be put to use straight away. There's even a Harmonized Pitch Shifter in key and long delay with settings of up to five seconds. The G1u surpasses your expectations for flexibility and control.

Dozens of tube amps at your feet
The G1u has authentic sounding models of classic tube amplifiers, made possible by Zoom's high resolution signal processing with 24-bit A/D/A conversion and 96 kHz sampling. This technology captures ultra high-range harmonics that dramatically impact the authenticity of the model.

Advanced ZFX-3 audio engine
The G1u's 32-bit ZFX-3 engine delivers highly sophisticated audio processing power for outstanding performance. Every nuance of fingering and touch is captured through detailed and smooth signal processing, ensuring that your performance is accurate and uncompromised.

Modern to legendary straight out of the box
From the legendary sounds of the sixties and seventies to the latest modern metal sounds and famous artist styles, the G1u gives you a tremendous range of tones with 100 patches ready to play. Program your own sounds and save up to 100 more.

Looping function records 5-second phrases
Record/playback/overdub guitar phrases with the looping function that can be controlled with the foot switches. This "sound-on-sound" feature lets you lay down phrases in real time, and during a live performance, you can use the looping sound as a backing track.

Integrated drum machine with PCM sound sources
Choose from 40 different rhythm patterns including 8-beat and 16-beat as well as 4-beat, shuffle and many other variations. The tap key makes it easy to directly input the tempo. Start a jam session anytime, anywhere.

5 ms high-speed patch switching
The slight mute interval that occurs when switching patches has been reduced to an amazing 0.005 seconds. For example, when switching from backing to a solo sound with a conventional effect device, the switch had to be pressed slightly in advance to start the solo with the correct sound. With the G1u on the other hand, you can start playing the solo phrase straight away when pressing the switch.

Comments about Zoom G1u Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

The bad.... Feels flimsy. I would not recommend using it live where it may get damaged easily. This can be countered if you are careful with your stiff. For places where it may get jumped on, stepped on accidentally, this is not a good idea. It is durable enough for careful people, I have multiple kids and so far, no damage. I wish it had a DI connection but for the price, its got what i "need" and more.

The good.... look at the zoom website for all the specs. For what your paying, your getting a heck of a deal. I have owned other multi effect units, and honestly, was never happy with them. The sound out of the Zoom far exceeds the other brands in the same price range. Sounds natural as anything digital can and comes with all the software needed too make it very usable for home recording. I use windows Vista and Windows 7 with it with no issues at all, everything works great. Eveen though it feels delicate, it holds up very well sitting on top my amp, or getting pushed around by kids on desktops. Not a sherman tank by any means but holds up well considering.

Always overlooked Zoom, had a 505 model years ago. This one is like a 505 on steroids with better sounds as well as USB connection and recording software which comes in handy.

Comments about Zoom G1u Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

I couldn't really add any pros to this review because the software that came with the box would not load up on my windows8 machine and without the software, the audio kept dropping out during recording SonarX2 studio software. The install would fail and MF's tech support was no help, they got hung up on the drop outs being caused by cabling issues. Online searching at the Zoom and MF website offered no solutions or patches for the problem.
On the plus side Musicians Friend was good about taking product back and exchanging it for Line Pod 6 UX1 with Pod Farm and also discounted the total cost of the Line 6 product.
I'm now waiting on delivery and hoping this will cure my issues.
I do and will continue to shop Musicians Friend and will recommend MF to friends and family

      Underrated

Comments about Zoom G1u Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

I'm not a big effects guy, but my amplifier (Fender Stage 160) isn't always capable of pushing out the best tone from my strat so for that I rely on a single multieffects pedal for all of my playing. This pedal gets alot of dirt in forums (why I felt the need to post a review) but I've used this model through 3 generations (505II/G1Next/G1U) and I can't understand why anybody would say this is junk. While I'm sure there are better boards at 3x the price, this is a great peice of equipment for under 100 bux. One thing to note, there is a huge difference between playing this through an amp and using it as a preamp through headphones, the sound through the headphones is a million times better. That isn't to say it sounds bad through the amp, but just that this is ideal if you normally practice through headphones (I don't).
