This pedal has a lot of tweakability and is pretty easy to use. I wasn't sure how customizing effects would work with only two knobs and two buttons, but it's actually pretty elegant when you get used to it. It's also pretty solid; I'd go so far as to say "rugged". I'm tough on pedals and I have yet to have any issues with damage to the unit. It's small, smaller than I thought when I was browsing the site, and will easily fit into a gig-bag pocket.
I gave it five stars on all three categories, but that is in the context of cheap analog pedals. This is not professional grade recording equipment, and is completely digital, but it is exactly what it is represented as. I was looking for a multi-effect with a reasonable price point and that's what I got. I used a Digitech RP100A for years and never really liked it very well, but the G1XN is easier to use and much less bulky. Did I mention it was small?
The power supply is pretty standard, I run mine with a 1 Spot with no issues. I haven't tried it out on battery power, but it's hard for me to imagine a situation where I would... but the manual says that it will use battery power as long as anything is plugged into the input, which I guess is a bit of a downer. With or without a battery it will save your custom tones when unplugged, even for several hours.
It comes with a sheet detailing what each preset distortion is and a wallet-sized card that tells you what the codes mean when you're customizing. The tuner function is pretty accurate and the drum machine is pretty much what you would expect.
At the end of the day I find myself constantly comparing it to the RP200 and being happy with my purchase. I've had it for about six months now and I'd buy it again. The RP had more features probably, but for my needs, the Zoom pedal is perfectly adequate.
I use it with an Ibanez AX200 electric guitar plugged into a Danelectro Fish n' Chips 7 band EQ, then the Zoom G1XN run out to a B52 2x12 100 watt amp, and I'm pleased as punch with the sound quality at high or low volume. You could spend a lot more money on a better pedal, but if you're looking for quality on the cheap, this is your horse.

I've had this for a long time and I'm not very happy with it. It has lots of effects on it but it's extremely difficult to use and navigate on. The instructions are somewhat confusing, too... It's sturdy, compact, and cheap, but it's just not all that great. I would rather have a variety of pedals, even though they take up more space because they have much better sound. But as for people who prefer having a multi-effects pedal, there are better ones out there for not much more money than this.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
Many good sounds right out of the box. Kind of hard navigating around the sounds though. I have only had it a week or so, so I'm sure I'll figure it out. The ring modulator sounds are a trip & make me wanna buy a real ring modulator. I just bought this so I wouldn't have to drag my pedal board out to the living room when i play there instead of my usual bedroom space, I wasn't expecting much & this exceeds my expectaions by far. Digital sounds have come a long way & this sounds purty good. It would be nice if it had an on/off switch istead of having to unplug it but I just got a powerstrip with a switch so no problem there. I think this thing is great for bedroom players like myself.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I bought this to give myself a few more options when playing around at home. Good variety of sounds. My biggest complaint would be that there is no way to change between banks of sounds. So, if you are at A1 and want to get to D8, you have to scroll through all the sounds in between to get there. You should be able to change banks via footswitch, rather than the tiny button on the device. Also, the button only goes up, not down. Other than that, no issues w/ this little pedal.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I bought this piece of junk - unfortunately, it worked ok at first for 1-2 gigs, then 3rd gig it did not work - complicated to use too, and hard to navigate on stage if you need easy ins and outs with the sounds.
By time I saw it did not work, it was past the 90 day warranty with MF - very sad about this, but would never buy from this manufacturer again

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I am using this multieffect pedal for live performance and home recording and this thing does the work just fine.
It comes with factory sounds that are not necessarily to your liking. It is easy to re-program and tweak as you like it. Most sounds are very impressive and convincing. Only a few reveal that this is an entry level piece of gear and not a top shelf processor.
All in all if tweaked and tailored to your needs - I believe it makes a very usable pedal, and the price is amazing for what you get.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
Bought this unit last year. I didn't have a lot of money for a big pedal board and decided to try this. I use Telecasters and a Fender Frontman 65 amp. I like the solid state sound for jazz and smooth pop when I play. The Zoom give me a lot of help. It has a lot of tone so if you want a very sweet clean sound you can dial it in very well. Different amp sounds and compression, a good noise gate and EQ. I get a great sound and with very little noise. The unit has insane drive sounds and if you plug this direct into your recording unit you can get a great tube sound without an amp.Good Volume pedal but not great, still it works okay and for the price I don't believe you can go wrong.
Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
Expression pedal is OK. Wonderful Sounds.
Hello, Everyone. I've had the Zoom G1XN effects device for about 2 weeks and enjoying it greatly. About 2 years ago I bought a Digitech RP50. I really enjoyed that one too but the devices cannot take much abuse. I bite it when I buy them because I love having children explore on the instruments. They tend to be hard on equipment. They snapped the AC Adapter jack off of the IC on the inside of the box. The Zoom so far has been superior to the RP50 in production of effects. I can't quite put my finger on it but the effects seem to be richer and more prone to complement from friends and family. So far, so good. Best.
It is what it is. Cheap construction.
Great sounds for a couple of years.
Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
Perfect home-recording pedal! I'm a drummer by nature, so I don't worry about the drum machine sounding like the real thing, which is the only thing about this pedal that falls short of being great, but it does come in handy during the writing process. There's a bit of a delay when switching from one patch to the next, but this is nothing out of the ordinary with any multi-effect pedal. I wouldn't play live on it, but it suits my studio needs perfectly!
For the price, you can't beat the effects that ring out of this thing.
I LOVE IT!!!
The item description is accurate in describing the features. No need for me to waste my time explaining them.
As other reviews have stated, it's pretty small, and made of plastic. But, I bought this for home recording.... so it shouldn't see much abuse. If I were looking for something for a live situation, I would look elsewhere. The knobs are stable and easy to navigate. The expression pedal is pretty touchy, but works well as long as you move it slowly.
You're getting quite a bit for the price. A few reviewers claimed that the effects weren't that great, but that can be argued about with any pedal that you buy. If you run it through a dime-store amp, it's going to sound like crap, no matter what you buy... so take that into consideration. I run this pedal direct into a Fostex VF160EX multi-track recorder and I think it sounds amazing! I didn't want to have to worry about micing up a guitar amp and trying to get a consistent sound out of it every time I went to record something. This pedal gives me the sound I want, so I don't need anything else.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I would give this little unit a 9 because I am sure there are some better units out there, however you will pay the difference too. This one works fine for me and I can't imagine someone needing something better unless you are a consumate professional.
If you're like me and short on cash then you will love this little pedal! It does a lot with a little and at a little price tag too! Lots of distortion settings, wah, chorus, clean acoustic, and a couple of really cool "rock a billy" type sounds great for those oldies!
Hey, it is bascially plastic but unless you abuse the thing, I think it will last a good long time!
Again, this is a great value for the price in my humble opinion!
