OVERVIEW

Tube-amp modeling, 54 studio effects, expression pedal, and more.

Since introducing our 505 pedal in 1996, Zoom compact multi-effect processors have been highly acclaimed by guitarists all over the world. Representing the next standard for expressive tone in any style, Zoom is pleased to introduce the G1XN.

Expression pedal adds a new dimension of versatility and control
The G1XN comes with a built-in expression pedal and a pedal assign key that makes it a snap to select the function operated by the pedal. Plus, you can switch the effect assigned to the expression pedal on and off by pressing up the pedal.

All-New Drive Sounds
The first thing you notice with the G1XN is its totally new drive sounds that were developed using the state-of-the-art ZFX modeling technology. Featuring 15 amp and stomp-box models that faithfully replicate every detail of the classics, from gain settings to harmonic character, the G1XN delivers natural expression from nuanced playing to total bone-sizzling shreds. And the new, original amp models designed especially by Zoom for the G1N will amaze.

Easy Operation
It's never been easier to edit effects. Simply select the effect module with the selector knob then edit the value with the value knob. That's all there is to it. You can easily design your own tones to suit to your music. Dedicated buttons for saving patches, a bank switcher and integrated rhythm patterns make fine-tuning your sounds a breeze. A chromatic tuner is available simply by stepping on the two pedal buttons simultaneously. And with bright LED indicators, you'll get easy operation even on a dark stage.

Xtreme Artist Patches
The G1XN has 9 types of presets that simulate the sounds of 'Rock Legends' like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and many more. Plus, there are 21 types of the artist patches designed by amazing guitar heroes like Michael Amott, Kiko Loureiro, Richie Kotzen, Rob Caggiano, Mike Stone and Matt Bachand, so you can use these professionally designed guitar sounds in your music. Also, there are 10 types of presets for any style of guitar playing such as power chords, arpeggio, lead, cutting and much more. You can even save 40 patches you create in the G1XN user memory.

Tube Amp Modeling
Replicating the high frequency overtones created by the distortion effect of tube amplifiers is made possible by Zoom's original 32-bit, ZFX-3 processor. This allows the frequency response for the G1XN to extend to an amazing 20 Hz thru 40 kHz with 96 kHz sampling rates. You get the rich harmonics of distortion specific to various types of tube amps, made possible with 24-bit A/D/A conversion and the processing power that only Zoom digital modeling technology can reproduce.

54 Studio quality effects
A total of eight modules provide 54 effect types ranging from 'must-have' historic sounds of DynaComp, Vox Wah, Crybaby Wah, to Harmonized Pitch Shifter to let you play along in key, long delay and echo settings of up to 5 seconds, and many more. A multitude of high-performance choices opens up totally new creative possibilities.

Drum machine with PCM sound sources
Realistic drum sounds derived from PCM sources are arranged in a variety of rhythm patterns for different musical genres. The 40 rhythm variations include the steady 8-beat of Rock and Pop, funky 16-beat, a ''Jazzy'' 4-beat, some great shuffle for Blues sessions, and many more choices. Rhythm training is a cinch, and tap input allows you to specify the tempo easily.

This pedal has a lot of tweakability and is pretty easy to use. I wasn't sure how customizing effects would work with only two knobs and two buttons, but it's actually pretty elegant when you get used to it. It's also pretty solid; I'd go so far as to say "rugged". I'm tough on pedals and I have yet to have any issues with damage to the unit. It's small, smaller than I thought when I was browsing the site, and will easily fit into a gig-bag pocket.
I gave it five stars on all three categories, but that is in the context of cheap analog pedals. This is not professional grade recording equipment, and is completely digital, but it is exactly what it is represented as. I was looking for a multi-effect with a reasonable price point and that's what I got. I used a Digitech RP100A for years and never really liked it very well, but the G1XN is easier to use and much less bulky. Did I mention it was small?
The power supply is pretty standard, I run mine with a 1 Spot with no issues. I haven't tried it out on battery power, but it's hard for me to imagine a situation where I would... but the manual says that it will use battery power as long as anything is plugged into the input, which I guess is a bit of a downer. With or without a battery it will save your custom tones when unplugged, even for several hours.
It comes with a sheet detailing what each preset distortion is and a wallet-sized card that tells you what the codes mean when you're customizing. The tuner function is pretty accurate and the drum machine is pretty much what you would expect.
At the end of the day I find myself constantly comparing it to the RP200 and being happy with my purchase. I've had it for about six months now and I'd buy it again. The RP had more features probably, but for my needs, the Zoom pedal is perfectly adequate.
I use it with an Ibanez AX200 electric guitar plugged into a Danelectro Fish n' Chips 7 band EQ, then the Zoom G1XN run out to a B52 2x12 100 watt amp, and I'm pleased as punch with the sound quality at high or low volume. You could spend a lot more money on a better pedal, but if you're looking for quality on the cheap, this is your horse.

I've had this for a long time and I'm not very happy with it. It has lots of effects on it but it's extremely difficult to use and navigate on. The instructions are somewhat confusing, too... It's sturdy, compact, and cheap, but it's just not all that great. I would rather have a variety of pedals, even though they take up more space because they have much better sound. But as for people who prefer having a multi-effects pedal, there are better ones out there for not much more money than this.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

I would give this little unit a 9 because I am sure there are some better units out there, however you will pay the difference too. This one works fine for me and I can't imagine someone needing something better unless you are a consumate professional.
If you're like me and short on cash then you will love this little pedal! It does a lot with a little and at a little price tag too! Lots of distortion settings, wah, chorus, clean acoustic, and a couple of really cool "rock a billy" type sounds great for those oldies!
Hey, it is bascially plastic but unless you abuse the thing, I think it will last a good long time!
Again, this is a great value for the price in my humble opinion!

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

You can nitpick anything and this is no different, but dollar for dollar they're great. One thing I. doing with this pedal is leaving a guitar and a pair of headphone hooked in 365. This is very handy and something I never thought I would do. Makes for a very, very handy practice outfit. No problems with the neighbors and sound like you went through your pedal board and an amp. Try it, you'll like it.
Works as advertised. This is a very handy item for traveling. Guitar, Pedal, Headphones = Good Times and No Irate Neighbors. OK, put it through a 220W, it'll do that too.
I bought my first ZOOM pedal fifteen years or so ago. Now I own four and they have been bounced around a bunch. They keep working.
Best buy in pedal I've seen and I'm an effects junkie

Well worth the price!

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

Perfect home-recording pedal! I'm a drummer by nature, so I don't worry about the drum machine sounding like the real thing, which is the only thing about this pedal that falls short of being great, but it does come in handy during the writing process. There's a bit of a delay when switching from one patch to the next, but this is nothing out of the ordinary with any multi-effect pedal. I wouldn't play live on it, but it suits my studio needs perfectly!

For the price, you can't beat the effects that ring out of this thing.

I LOVE IT!!!
The item description is accurate in describing the features. No need for me to waste my time explaining them.
As other reviews have stated, it's pretty small, and made of plastic. But, I bought this for home recording.... so it shouldn't see much abuse. If I were looking for something for a live situation, I would look elsewhere. The knobs are stable and easy to navigate. The expression pedal is pretty touchy, but works well as long as you move it slowly.
You're getting quite a bit for the price. A few reviewers claimed that the effects weren't that great, but that can be argued about with any pedal that you buy. If you run it through a dime-store amp, it's going to sound like crap, no matter what you buy... so take that into consideration. I run this pedal direct into a Fostex VF160EX multi-track recorder and I think it sounds amazing! I didn't want to have to worry about micing up a guitar amp and trying to get a consistent sound out of it every time I went to record something. This pedal gives me the sound I want, so I don't need anything else.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

Bought this unit last year. I didn't have a lot of money for a big pedal board and decided to try this. I use Telecasters and a Fender Frontman 65 amp. I like the solid state sound for jazz and smooth pop when I play. The Zoom give me a lot of help. It has a lot of tone so if you want a very sweet clean sound you can dial it in very well. Different amp sounds and compression, a good noise gate and EQ. I get a great sound and with very little noise. The unit has insane drive sounds and if you plug this direct into your recording unit you can get a great tube sound without an amp.Good Volume pedal but not great, still it works okay and for the price I don't believe you can go wrong.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

Expression pedal is OK. Wonderful Sounds.
Hello, Everyone. I've had the Zoom G1XN effects device for about 2 weeks and enjoying it greatly. About 2 years ago I bought a Digitech RP50. I really enjoyed that one too but the devices cannot take much abuse. I bite it when I buy them because I love having children explore on the instruments. They tend to be hard on equipment. They snapped the AC Adapter jack off of the IC on the inside of the box. The Zoom so far has been superior to the RP50 in production of effects. I can't quite put my finger on it but the effects seem to be richer and more prone to complement from friends and family. So far, so good. Best.
It is what it is. Cheap construction.
Great sounds for a couple of years.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

I am using this multieffect pedal for live performance and home recording and this thing does the work just fine.

It comes with factory sounds that are not necessarily to your liking. It is easy to re-program and tweak as you like it. Most sounds are very impressive and convincing. Only a few reveal that this is an entry level piece of gear and not a top shelf processor.

All in all if tweaked and tailored to your needs - I believe it makes a very usable pedal, and the price is amazing for what you get.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

I have a very similar model to this one, called the zoom g1x, essentially the same. I use the pedal for a pretty basic use: tuner and distortion switcher. The tuner? Fine...works great. Distortion switcher...I guess that's what I call it. Basically I use it to switch between solo (high distortion), regular rythm distortion (high bass, high distortion), acoustic (as clean as possible), and a very tebly sound (as if it's coming through a walky-talky or old an radio). The distortion effects I get out of this are great! My fellow guitarist is going to be getting the same one as me because it's pretty difficult to get a good rythm effect out of his other one (a deltalab). But, it does so much more: the other effects that are there are just great. Not the largest selection, but much more than I'll ever use. The only problems (which are tiny) are that since the screen only consists of two digits, it definitely takes some tinkering with to figure it out well, but it works great. My other problem is that it's not the strongest material, but that doesn't really matter because I've dropped it multiple times before, and still not a crack. I say, if you just want a fun, useful, middle-range pedal, go with this one.

Comments about Zoom G1XN Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

For the money, its very worth it. as a real professional gear, it absolutly sucks. Distorted tones are thin and uninspiring, and Wah is very unresposive. not a lot of control over most of the mod effects either, However for 80 bucks you get every effect possible, you name it its there, if your a beginner, hobbiest or someone that just wants a new toy, go for it, if your looking for everything in one live rig, don't buy it. most effects are decent but the distortion is terrible.
