OVERVIEW

The first pedal to unite traditional analogue stomps with a multi-effects processor and amp simulator.

Zoom's G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper combines the ease of a stompbox pedal board with the power of a multi-effects processor and USB audio interface. With complete control over individual effects and amp modeling, you can change your tones on the fly for both stage and studio.

Three Stomps. One Pedal.
G3 offers three large stomps with LCD displays and corresponding footswitches that form a graphical interface, allowing you to utilize up to three stompbox and amp effects simultaneously. The interface has also been simplified with three control knobs for each display. This intuitive design makes creating, saving and rearranging the effect chain of your own sounds a breeze and provides easy navigation in live and studio settings.

Evolution of tube amp simulation.
A newly developed sigmoid curve clipper re-creates the smooth clipping of a tube amplifier's waveform. With its tube distortion, G3 can simulate amplifier sounds, including clean, crunch and full-gain drive tones that are authentic to the original models.

Super-real amp modeling.
G3's 13 super-real amp models range from vintage setups to the latest trends in amp technology, each with its own distinct cabinet modeling that can be used to alter its tone characteristics. By combining amplifiers and cabinets of different makers, models and years, you can digitally design your own custom rig. G3's modeling technology provides the best tone for both live performance and direct recording.

Note: Only one amp model can be used at a time.

The newest generation of DSP: ZFX-IV.
G3 utilizes the all-new ZFX-IV DSP processor. This generation of ZFX circuitry upgrades everything from tone and power to function and operability. By using 32-bit floating-point processing, G3 emulates amplifiers and recreates tones that are more realistic than any other amp modeler.

94 total stompbox models.
G3 has 94 diverse types of stompbox presets, including some of the world's most popular guitar pedals. You can use up to three effects in any combination. G3's wide range of effects includes distortion, compression, modulation, delay, and reverb. Its HD Reverb uses DSP power to produce a rich resonance that rivals outboard gear used in professional studios and live setups.
G3 dial in your sound

Note: Only two effects can be used in combinations that feature amp models or HD Reverb.

Over 100 versatile effects on-board.
Select from over 100 built-in DSP effects to create your own sounds on G3. Try its renowned compression and wah pedals, chorus effects with stunning depth and resonant reverbs. Or let your tonal imagination run free with dynamic flangers, tremolos, harmonized pitch shifters, multi-tap delays, reverse delays and much more. G3 can store up to 100 of your original creations without a hitch.

USB audio interface for DAW recording.
G3 operates as an audio interface, letting you record directly to your computer via USB. All of your sound settings used during rehearsals or live performances can be recorded to your favorite DAW such as the included Steinberg Sequel LE recording software. The pedal's direct monitoring capability eliminates any latency problems, assuring realistic studio conditions and hassle-free operation.

Looper function with 40-second phrase recording/overdubbing.
G3's Looper capabilities include 40 seconds of phrase recording and overdubbing. The "sound-on-sound" function allows you to layer guitar sounds as many times as you want in real time. You can use looped sounds as simple backing tracks or create a "full band" feel with the built-in drum machine and DSP effects for a live solo.

Integrated drum machine.
Set up a one-man jam session with over 40 different patterns. Play 4, 8 and 16-beat rhythm sequences, or you can set it to shuffle to choose from one of many preset beats. The tap key also makes it easy to set tempo and keep you in perfect sync.

Accurate, real-time Tuner function.
The pedal's Tuner function offers smooth, real-time response with precise guitar tuning accuracy. Whether you're in the middle of a performance or practicing alone in your room, simply hold down the pedal's center footswitch to start getting your strings back on pitch. In addition, G3's LCD displays and LED indicators make the feature easy to use on a dark stage, where you can also mute the output for seamless tuning.

Balanced XLR output for DI use.
With its built-in XLR output, you can avoid DI boxes completely and directly connect G3 to any mixing console and maintain a balanced, high quality signal. In addition, a convenient Pre/Post switch can direct an effected sound to the main outputs while passing the guitar signal directly to the XLR output without relying on an A/D converter.

Output modes for stage and studio.
Different output modes allow you to optimize G3's tones based upon its connection with your personal rig. In addition to modes for the front inputs of combo and stack amps, G3 can be used as a preamp when connected to a power amp input. By selecting the direct mode with a line connection, you can achieve a realistic guitar sound that is optimal for live use and recording.

Super-low noise design.
G3's signal-to-noise ratio of 120dB and noise floor of -100dBm virtually eliminate background noise. G3's ZNR noise reduction removes feedback and other unwanted sounds, providing you with beautiful tones and natural release.

World's fastest patch change speed: 1ms.
With G3's amazing 1ms patch change speed, you will never miss a beat. Change from rhythm playing to a solo in an instant by simply pushing the switch.

Add a G3 to your pedal board.
G3 is perfect for use in combination with traditional stompboxes. By adding a G3 to your pedal board, you will decrease the size and complexity of your setup, while expanding your system's effects and modeling capabilities.
Optional expression pedal and footswitch.

Connect an optional FP02 expression pedal to G3 and control effect parameters such as wah, pitch shift, volume, drive gain, modulation rate and delay/reverb mix in real time. Use an optional FS01 footswitch to tap the tempo used for the drum machine, looper and effects. You can also use an FS01 to mute the Delay/Reverb input or turn Delay Hold on or off.

Free Edit&Share software for Mac/PC.
Zoom's Edit&Share software, which is available as a free download for G3, allows you to create, edit and save your personalized amp and effect settings on your computer. Use its "radar charts" to access visual representations of each preset's tone characteristics, amp/effect sorting feature to easily locate your sounds and drag-and-drop options to rearrange patches for editing purposes. With Edit&Share, you can download the latest patches online, as well as share your patches with others.

Runs on batteries, AC adapter or USB power.
G3 can operate on three different power sources: AC adaptor (included), batteries or USB bus power when plugged into your computer. Four AA/LR6 alkaline batteries provide over six hours of continuous playing. Whether on stage or in the studio, G3 gives you reliable power options.

Chasing tone for years always a challenge. Found the G3 after loving the Zoom R8. The Zoom R8 multitask recorder came with many fx and this is where I discovered how good Zoom fx have evolved thru the years. They have become closer emulations of tube circuitry. The Tube Gains have become realistic and more dynamic than ever. What makes the pedal a standout is what Zoom calls the Sigmoid Curve Clipper in their Tube emulator knob which is part of every amp. It really pumps up lively gain in a very realistic way. I believe it improves all the amps included and even rivals and improves some from the original amps. I prefer using the Diezel amp and the Big Drive which emulates a Mesa Boogie and the FD Combo which is a Twin and all the Fender emulations are really good. But most of the true tone comes to life when using all the many boosters and overdrives and distortions all of which sound completely different in front of each amp emulation. The FD Combo set flat with a Diezel Cab seems to do great classic rock distortion and this is how many pedals evolved, for this amp in particular. Also the Marshall Emulation makes distortions overdrives and boosters sound like my old Marshall Stack. The Metal World tone is unbelievable and Zooms own Extreme Distortion is tough to beat. I have tube amps but have always known that tube amps never have and never will do the best job at full throttle distortion as the bass gets flubby when cranked. Tubes excel at bluesy tones and crunchy rhythm and leads. But they are heavy and a real pain to move around and have inconsistent sound. The dream is to get tube tone with a solid state and it is getting darn close and some sounds are actually better than tube amp tone. I A/B them a lot. Many times surpassing the tones I try to immitate. Gotta keep this pedal alive it really needs to become a staple pedal and stay in production The Free Edit and Share software makes this pedal a real gem to edit. The really sad part of the story was Samsontech. I rushed the pedal to them hoping they would send me out another on the quick. I mean, 60 days old, professional musician...seems they should have jumped on that. After a few nice emails I was told it would take 3-4 weeks to be reviewed, tested and REPAIRED!!! It's been 3 weeks, still haven't heard anything. I've already purchased new pedals, had to, I gig every weekend. If and when they finally get around to sending me something I'll probably sell it. Wanna buy a refurb G3 cheap?
My last review was pretty positive but I now have to update that. While the things I wrote are true I have to write that shortly after my MF 45 day warranty ended the pedal failed completely. At a gig, during the soundcheck-pffft!-no output. The pedal was still lit up and the tuner received the signal but there was no output signal. I played the gig without any effects...not happy. Thank God the Carvin V3's sound held up on it's own. More below.
Anything that fails after 2 months...without abuse...stored properly. Well that's pretty bad.
If it doesn't work it has no value, yes?

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

*Make sure you upgrade the firmware! It allows you to use up to 6 stompboxes/amps in a row!

This unit is replacing my old pedal board. It sounds just as nice as my hand picked OCDed out analog pedal board, but costs about 1/5 the price and is about 10 times more portable/convenient.

It took about 5 minutes to learn how to use (after I upgraded the firmware... which was the first thing I did). Very easy, intuitive.

Using it with the amp models, it's great to run directly into the sound system or practice (along with the drum machine, and YOURSELF (the looper)) with headphones. The sound is crystal clear (very little background noise) yet not overly "digital" (I'm very OCD when it comes to sound). Definitely NOT microphonic (like the older Zoom pedals)

Used purely for effects, it sounds AWESOME running through my Blues Jr.

I've also used it as a DI Box for my acoustic. It's no LR Baggs, but it does the job very well (and you can add subtle effects too).

All in all, this is one the better purchases I have made in regards to musical instruments. (And I've bought ALOT of stuff).

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

I hesitated buying one, due to a few reviews criticizing its high gain amp modeling. I did a little tweaking of parameters, using my Hamer Korina Standard w/ Dimebucker & 59N, and input #2 on a Fender Princeton-65 1x12" Combo w/Original Speaker, I nearly soiled my shorts when I played the Krank Revolution sim. Drop-B chugs are spine-snapping, brutal beauty. The Fender sims. make my Telecaster give the Twangy-tingles. Operation can be a little complicated at first, read the manual, download Edit&Share and you will love it if you have un-biased ears and time to tweak the tones.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

It does just about everything I expected it would, and does most of it well. Some notes:

          * The sound of the G3 is significantly different from the older (pre-G2Nu) Zoom models that I've used. It's more serious and less fantastical.

          * The programming of the G3 is significantly different from previous Zoom pedals that I've used. Whereas the older pedals had pre-defined slots, each with its own predefined effects to choose from, the G3 has 6 slots into which any effect can be put, in any order. There are some combinations that exceed its processing capabilities, but I haven't encountered any of them yet.

          * There are several dual-effects, such as delay+reverb and compressor+overdrive, which are not as flexible as their individual counterparts but do allow you to increase the total number of effects by putting two effects into one slot if things get tight. To me, this is a very well-thought-out compromise.

          * I'm not all that interested in authentic amp tones, so I've got no comment on how well it does with respect to that. I like the amp models that it has, though.

          * Changing patches is more difficult than it should be, in my opinion; enough so that I consider this a serious liability in live situations where you need to change patches quickly and often. If you're using it more like a pedal board, just turning individual effects on and off, it may be more intuitive but being primarily a multi-fx user, that's not what I'm used to doing.

          * Although the picture on the website shows the original G3 (which can be updated to v2), the unit I received was a G3v2. The difference between the two hardware-wise is trivial (some labels changed) but software-wise v2 is a serious improvement. Like 6-effects-at-once-instead-of-just-3 serious.

          * I would highly recommend using the free patch management software, if possible. It makes creating, editing, managing, and (sadly) switching patches much, much easier.

          * The looper is very usable for practicing. I don't use loopers in any other context so I don't know how well it would work live, for example.

          * I think that this is an excellent value for the price.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

zoom g3 is really nice digital effect. it's really good because it's like you have so many stompboxes and put in into one nice box.

the sound is really good, i use it through 2 amp, left and right. the ping pong delay, stereo delay, stereo chorusing is really nice. i can producing a really wide guitar sound. the other fx is sound really good too, except the distortion pedal and the amp simulator, i don't really like the way it sound, i prefer to use distortion stompbox that i like.

"control in" function is really nice, i use my footswitch, to control tap tempo of my delay, and vibrato sometimes, i usually use it for hold the delay, to keep a sustaining bass note for soloing. and sometimes i use it for mute input delay, just like boss dd 20. you can also use expression pedal. it can control almost every fx and every control in the fx.

the loop function is really good too, you can practicing anywhere, when you get a travel, you can use zoom g3 as your practicing friend. because, in zoom g3, there are some rhythm that you can jam with. you can also use your headphone through zoom g3, so you don't need use an amp or any active speaker any more. so practical..
and of course you don't need to spend your money too much because this unit is affordable..

conclusion is, i recommend this fx so much, :D

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

I've probably purchased every multi-effects pedal on the market, only to return them. They were either difficult to use, or not made very well. Some of these were twice the cost of the Zoom, and not cheap. While I'm not sure that this pedal can be used for live gigs unless you only use a few pedals. It is fantastic for recording and doing studio work. This has effects that I've not heard on other units, and I've been playing for 45 years. The price is amazing, when you consider how much other brands charge. It is made well, and does what I want it to do. I've not even touched the surface on what this pedal is capable of.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

The Zoom G3 has really improved my playing tremendously. It really has energized my playing and my desire to work on technique because it lets me do technical exercises in a more musical, creative context. It's like having a backup band that will tirelessly jam with you while you wank away on lead guitar. If I lost everything, the first three pieces of musical gear I would get would be a good Telecaster, a small tube combo amp, and a Zoom G3.
Looper + basic drum machine = fantastic practice/jam/composing tool.

There are other features of course -- the amp modeling, the effect pedal modeling, the tuner -- but it's the looper and beat box that make this my best pedal. It has done wonders for my lead guitar playing. They say practice with a metronome (which the Zoom G3 has by the way), but laying down a rhythm guitar groove over a back beat and then improvising lead parts over it is even better as it stimulates my imagination and lets my fingers become fluent with phrasing. The looper has a nice feature whereby you can set it to end the loop after so many beats, up to 64. This is an especially nice touch as it's a bit of an art to stomp in and stomp out right on beat.

There's always room for improvement, and if I were to suggest anything it would be to add more basic rock and country type 4/4 beats. Some of the rhythms I find useless. Then again maybe somebody else is digging them.
It is a rugged unit and seems properly designed and manufactured. I'm definitely happy with the quality of it.
            Superb value.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

            Compact Multi-FX with Stompbox Versitility

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

The G3 is now my go-to pedal for anything I'm working on. It's light and compact, easy to carry around and set up. The fact that you can run the drums and looper at the same times makes this an awesome gigging tool, and the 100+ effects are marvelous! The only thing I could find on here that would cause hesitation is that only 3 effects can be used at once. Even so, the G3 is an amazing piece of hardware, especially for it's price!
Essentially 3 stompbox pedals linked together, the Zoom G3 takes a different angle than most multi-fx pedals. Because each of the three simultaneous effects has it's own little space, you can edit each one of them independent of the other two. This means no paging through menus and the like just to change the depth of your chorus effect! However, the downside to the G3's design is that only three effects can be active at once. While this may prove as a hinderance to some, there are plenty of awesome tones you can get with just three effects on here!

What's also nice is that this pedal features a looper that can sync up to the internal drum machine, allowing you to put on a pretty nice solo performance. The looper can record 40 seconds of audio, or if an "undo last overdub" feature is enabled, 20 seconds of audio.

Great-sounding effects and amps and intuitive menus make the G3 a solid component in my pedal collection!
Sturdy, metal chasis and responsive buttons make this pedal a durable keeper. Doesn't feel cheap or wonky. Buttons and knobs click and turn like they should and jacks are solid. Sound is nice and crisp as well. At first mine sounded way too bright, but then I discovered that in the global menu, you can set the output setting from "direct" to "into combo amp" or "into amp stack" to thicken up the tone.
Excellent value. For this price, I could find no other pedals that were compact and had a syncronized looper and drum machine. There were a few other pedals that featured loopers and drums, but both features could not be used at the same time, making the G3 my only option. With 100+ effects and amp sims, I'm not sorry that I chose this!

Lots of easy to use, good sounding features in a small package

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

I tried a POD, ME-70, and Tonelab multi effects pedal and was intrigued but not enough to buy. The sound quality, ease of use, and price of the ZOOM G3 just blows the competition away. I have not viewed ZOOM as a real contender in the past but this pedal completely changed my mind.

Despite my complaints about the amp modeling sounding a little digital they still sound good and I will use them. Immediately upon plugging this thing in I was impressed. It has given me a little bost and made playing more fun.

I also bought the expression pedal which gives more flexibility. I wasn't immediately impressed with the quality of the expression pedal as I was with the rest of it. I hope it will hold up well

If you are expecting something that sounds like $20k worth of amps, this isn't quite it. It is as close to it as anything I have tried in or near the price range though.

Bottom line, if you are in the market for a multi effects unit then buy this one. If you are a boutique equipment snob then keep on looking and pay for just one effect more than the cost of this unit.
amp modeling, stomp box modeling, looper, tuner, and a computer interface. What more could you ask for? I scanned the instructions briefly and I was off and running with no problems. The buttons are well thought out and well placed. I haven't tried using it as a computer interface yet but I have high hopes after exploring some of the other features.

The ease of use in editing patches just couldn't be any better. It really works like a stomp box! Yes, there are some sub-menus that you have to access but they are layed out in a logical way so that you don't have to hunt for them.
So far so good. Only time will tell but all indications are that it is a quality made piece of goods. I have used some inexpensive ZOOM products in the past that have held up well and didn't appear near the initial quality of the G3.

Sound quality is very good. The stomp boxes are spot on. The amp modeling, well they sound like amp modeling. They sound very good but they still have a bit of a "digital" quality to them. The amp modeling sounds better than many other effect units that I have used in the past. They respond well to nuances in your playing and the decay is very natural. Maybe I'm being too picky here and somewhat esoteric when i say "digital quality" but I can't think of any other way to put it. In a live and loud environment the digitalness disappears but for recording i'm not sure.

Even with this complaint I still really like the pedal and the amp modeling and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. the sound quality and ease of use blows away the competition both in and above this price range.

I am playing a well set up LP clone through a clean solid state Fender amp. I haven't tried it yet but I think dirtying up the amp a little may help with the "digitalness".
If you find three effects that you like than the pedal is more than paid for. I couldn't be much happier with the purchase. The smile it put on my face the first time I plugged it in was well worth the price. If three simultaneous effects aren't enough for you then buy two of them.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

Excellent product, even before considering the low price.

Sounds can be dialed in quite easily, with all of the parameters quickly accessible via the front knobs and buttons. The computer editing software is easy to download and use as well.

Note that Musician's Friend sent me the older version of this unit, so I had to upgrade the firmware to access 6 simultaneous effects (as opposed to 3) and some newer amp models. That said, upgrading to the current firmware was painless and glitch-free.

The harmonizer/synth effects have a little lag when playing quickly, but otherwise I found all the effects to be useful.

Recording direct via USB works fine into Cakewalk Sonar X2. Note that the USB audio is 16 bit.

I have not tried this in a live situation yet but it looks like it would fit nicely on my pedal board.

There is a tap tempo button on the front, but you'll need an external control pedal/switch to do it with your foot.

Overall I'm extremely pleased with this. I've had many of the low/mid-range amp/effect hardware modelers (Johnson, Boss, Line 6, etc.), as well as several software modelers, and this has been my favorite so far.

Almost all the manufactures have good sounding effects nowdays. What sets Zoom apart is that it is the easiest to use.I have the G3 the G5 and MultiStomp, each with its own merits and well worth it.
What prompted me to add to the rest of the reviews is the fact that Zoom has a nice upgrade software for the G3. The softwware download was almost as easy as the pedal. Now I have 6 effects useable at the same time and for free! They could have only had this on new models, they had my cash already. Now I'm not only empressed with the product but also the service THANKS ZOOM!

              Zoom G3

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

I tried this unit out in a store and thought I'd give it a try. I have to say its quite impressive. The amp modeling is, I think, the best around. These models have the organic feel of the real things and they don't seem to thin out as the volume rises. It is certainly a step up from what has been around. I really like the Fender Vibrolux, the Orange amp model and the 2Rock is flat out awesome. I added the G3 to my pedal rig and retired some things which saved some space. I kept a couple of dirt boxes and they interact very well with the G3.

              There are a few gripes;
First, getting from one patch to another with your feet is not done with a single stomp unless you hold button one down for a few seconds and shift into patch select mode. Then buttons two and three act as arrows for up and down. At that point your individual patch settings are not visible. What would be great is if you could patch shift using a separate foot switch but I don't believe that is possible. It can be done with your hands but who can do that while they are playing? That should have been thought of.

Overall, the modeling technology has gotten scary good. I think this unit easily beats out anything Line 6, Korg, Digitech or Boss have put out to date. This unit is way beyond anything
Zoom has put out before and they have done a great job with it. It is also very easy to use. Keep in mind with reviews you read regarding this unit; You still have to know how to put effects in the proper sequential order and you have to understand how to dial in the sounds. It takes a little education and experience and is probably daunting to newbies. Just Google it and you can learn everything you need to know.

With the things that the G3 puts at your disposal, the quality of the sounds and build, you can't beat it...period.
Pleanty of great sounding effects and usable amp models at your disposal.
              Feels rugged and built well.
              Enough here to gig with.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

I should say up front that I wanted the G3 for recording hi gain tones direct. The amp sounds on the G3 are ok, but not as good as the POD xt or POD x3 in my opinion. The tones are not as realistic, and sound more fizzy than the PODs. High gain tones are always tricky for amp sims, and after getting the firmware upgrade and spending 2 weeks tweeking, the sounds are still just ok for practice, but not for serious recording. For example,The Tube Screamer effect has a sort of half closed wah wah tone that sounds very irritating when listening to it in a mix. To me, nothing sounds usable.
                After getting the firmware upgrade, I now have a constant reverb on every sound, almost like a default effect, I emailed the company almost a week ago to find out how I can turn it off, and have yet to hear back from them. It does seem to be built solid and would probably be gig worthy, which brings me to one of it's good qualities;
it's much more realistic sounding in front of an amp. Going into the front of my Marshall I managed to get a couple of decent tones with the G3's stompboxes. The noise gate also works well cutting out the 60 cycle hum from my p90 pickups, but like I said, it's not so great going direct into a recorder.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

I bought the G3 hoping to replace my pod HD. While the pod hd sounds great, I dislike the editing process of the amps and effects on the unit as the screen is so small.

I returned the G3 after a few days because I could not get the same quality of sounds as on the pod. That's not to say it sounded bad, just not as real to me even with EQ and some of the other effects that are supposed to help.

I should say that I am using the pod or G3 as a recording device. This matters as I think the G3 does much better in front of an amp as an effects unit (not modeller).

I really loved the process of editing on the G3. I also liked their looper. The unit is very easy to use.

I play in a praise band and going to start playing electric along with my acoustic. I thought I'd just go direct to the PA system for my electric. Worked great for that! To my absolute surprise I decided to run my acoustic through it instead of my normal setup with my LR Baggs external preamp, wow! I was able to dial in a great acoustic tone using my acoustic, who knew! I'm no longer even using my Baggs PADI but just this and running an A/B from my two guitars into the G3. I have acoustic patches and electric and it works fantastic. Granted I'm playing a Taylor 114 not some 814 or high end guitar, but for live performances this thing will do it all, electric or acoustic!

I would not consider myself a big fan of Zoom, but they nailed it on this one.
Three multi-effect stomp boxes in one unit with the easiest possible controls.
Great sounds and almost every popular effect.
I'm over 50 and didn't even need to look at the manual, very intuitive.
Three big screens each with over 100 effects amp sims.
Also some settings have over six perimeter knobs to dial in that perfect effect and tone.
Would be nice to save more that three settings in a patch, but that is usually overkill anyway.
The loop recorder is super easy to use and sounds good also.
The unit seems solid, switches are vacuum type.
Can't find anything like this at any price.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

As I stated before this is a great sounding unit, all the effects are top notch, and the amp models sound killer going direct into a powered monitor speaker, I own a Peavey Impulse powered PA/monitor speaker and connected the Zoom from the direct out right into the Peavey and all the amp emulations with the cab sims sounded pretty dang good, however when I plugged it into my main board that's hooked up to a crown power amp then to my main JBL PA speakers, the amp models sounded like dog doo. The acoustic simulator sounded suprisingly good though, not perfect but could get you by in a pinch. I didn't try hooking it up to my computer to record with but I bet it would sound awesome that way. If a person was to use this as a stand alone unit for recording or even playing live through a powered speaker this would be perfect, its small compact and sounds awesome. However it doesn't have midi which i wanted to connect into my existing setup so I'll have to figure something else out.
Three effects at once, balanced out, blah blah blah, the features are listed in the description on the web site, but there's no Midi control! That really torked me cause this is a great sounding effects unit and I would of purchased it if it would of only had midi control that's why I only gave it a 6
I only borrowed it for a couple of days so I don't know how it would hold up but it feels like a solid unit with an all metal casing.
This is a great unit for the money, really bummed about the no midi thing though...

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

I picked up a used one, upgraded it to v2 immediately. Super easy. The preset patches are mostly useless, but they give you ideas. The real power is when connected to the PC and editing patches at will (I am considering buying a cheap laptop just to take with me when performing). The USB interface is way more intuitive and easier to use than when not connected. However, setting up patches and recalling them later when performing is useful and easy. Love the tuner. I would recommend.

Comments about Zoom G3 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal and Looper:

Sounds are great...bottom line. I replaced a Boss DD20 and Boss PS-5 with this unit and got more than I wanted. BE SURE TO UPGRADE TO VERSION 2!!! You can use 6 effects at once with version 2! Editing, creating your own presets, and saving them are easy. I was hesitant due to the price so I checked some youtube videos. I am more than satisfied and my expectations were surpassed. It has some obscure yet useable effects such as the pitch-shift delay and random filters. Reverse delay is better than the Boss DD-20. The only effects I am not fond of are the reverbs...because I also use an Eventide Space for super deep, long reverbs. But for shorter verbs they are ok. After owning the Zoom G3 for 5 months it is a keeper.
