OVERVIEW

A single stompbox that eliminates the need for huge pedal boards and multi-effects pedals.

Zoom's MS-50G MultiStomp Guitar Pedal is the first of its kind. It offers the power of a multi-effects pedal and flexibility of an amp modeler in a single stompbox design. With 55 classic stompbox effects and amp models, easy-to-use interface, auto-chromatic tuner and versatile power options, guitar players will be astonished with how much this single stomp offers.

With the size and weight of a typical single stompbox, the MS-50G includes a thorough lineup of high-quality effects types. It features 47 stompbox effects and 8 amp models. Along with distortion, reverb, modulation and other classic effects, its amp models simulate some of the most prized pieces of live and studio gear.

The LCD shows the current effect in use, while the scrolling function allows you to easily view the flow of your effects chain. With this intuitive, easy-to-use interface, creating amazing sounds is a breeze.

The MS-50G allows you to utilize up to six effects simultaneously, as well as arrange them in any combination. This gives you the ability to craft classic sounds, as well as lush, complex tones. Leave the rules you learned behind and enjoy creative freedom with the MS-50G.

Add 55 effects to your pedalboard
Cut down the size of your pedalboard by adding in MS-50G to the mix. From a single pedal, you’ll have 55 effects types waiting at your feet to be called-up no matter have often you need them.

Tweak your settings with ease
The MS-50G’s front panel features three parameter knobs, which also function as buttons. These buttons can be used to open various menus, where you can then use the parameter knobs to tweak your effects settings to your liking. Remove and/or rearrange effect units, turn the AUTO-SAVE function ON and OFF, recall patches and more with ease and efficiency.

Realistic, high-quality audio design
The cutting-edge ZFX-IV DSP processor can execute sophisticated algorithms using 32-bit floating-point calculations. A sigmoid curve clipper helps create the smoothly clipped waveform characteristics of tubes, providing the most realistic modeling sounds and richest harmonic components to date.

Onboard auto-chromatic guitar tuner
Hold the footswitch down to activate the built-in chromatic tuner in an instant. Even on stage during a performance, all you need to do is move your foot to enable tuning. You can choose between a BYPASS mode that turns all the effects off and a MUTE mode that allows you to tune silently.

Tap the tempo using the footswitch
Use the Tap Tempo feature to set the tempo in real-time to the rhythm of a song as you play guitar. You can also use it to for delay times and modulation effect frequencies.
* The tuner cannot be used when the tap tempo function is active.

Program the order of your patches
With the MS-50G, you can program which patches are recalled and the order in which they appear. For example, you could select three patches—(A) CLEAN TONE, (B) HEAVY RIFF and (C) LEAD SOLO—so that you can cycle through them each time you press the footswitch. You can create and save up to 50 original tones in this way.

Presets that are available right-out-of-the box
The MS-50G includes 30 preset patches that can be used to get great guitar tones the moment you open the box. These patches offer a wide variety of guitar sounds that use famous stompbox/amp models and settings. You can use these.

Support for line recording
In addition to the 8 amp models from the G3 and G5, studio-level compressor and reverb effects are also built in to the MS-50G. The pedal’s stereo output jacks allow you to use line connections for direct recording of its powerful guitar sounds.

Output modes for stage and studio
Different output modes for the amp modeling function allow you to optimize the MS-50G’s tones based on how you connect it to your rig. In addition to having modes for the front inputs of combo and stack amps, the MS-50G can be used as a preamp when connected to a power amp input. You can also achieve realistic amp sounds optimal for recording by selecting the direct mode for line connections.

7 hours operation on batteries
Using two AA alkaline batteries, you can operate the MS-50G for up to 7 hours continuously. From rehearsal to the main stage, you can use the MS-50G with confidence. Power the pedal via AC adapter (sold separately) or USB bus, if you want to use it longer without worrying about battery life.

Stay up-to-date via USB
When connected to your computer and Zoom’s website via USB, you can perform system firmware updates to keep the functions of your MS-50G on the cutting-edge.

So it's finally happenend--a multi-effects unit as a pedal. Some might think such an idea is about as cool as a Chevy El Camino, but I really like it. There are plenty of distortions, compressions, 'verbs, etc. I'm not much into amp models, so I don't mind that there aren't many.

What I really like is that I can put this into my pedal chain and make it anything I want, reducing the number of pedals I have to use. It's a real chameleon, and most of the effects are beyond acceptable. Plus it has two outputs for bi-amping and stereo!!!!!

I still haven't figured out how to chain or save my pedal chains yet, but I've had this less than a week. It is a little hard to use like everyone's saying, and the instruction manual is tiny and not organized in a particularly user-friendly way. However, I'm sure I'll crack how to use this as more than a single-effect unit, but I will give that caveat to newbies. It will take you a little while to figure this out.

A bit complex to use

Again, complex - instructions in rather small print. Seems like you have to use too many butons and adjustments just to get on effect going.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

Zoom has always been pretty good at squeezing a lot of power into a small space. This pedal is even better. There are tons of effects that are all super tweakable if you want to take the time. The access is very easy once you get used to which button does which (it's the same on every effect and I had it memorized within 15 minutes). Are the amp models and stomp boxes faithful recreations? No. Do they sound different enough to be useful. Absolutely. I was very happy that the amps and distortions had more than enough gain (you can always dial it back if you want). The modulation effects are very cool and you can put as many as 6 effects in a row at one time.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

I called Musician's Friend to inquire about a good effects unit that would simulate as many voices as possible and especially a Leslie Organ. I was directed to the Zoom MS-50G. I didn't think it was exactly what I wanted, but I would try it. As always, I was not disappointed with advice I get from MF. I have replaced 4 BOSS pedals and have all the effects I will ever need. I love the Roto Cab which gives a good Leslie sim. I couldn't ask for a better Chorus and Delay. I also replaced a Fender Deluxe pedal which I use when I play Hawaiian music. The only complaint is the manual. It is pretty worthless. You just have to dive in and use the pedal. It didn't take me long to figure it out. Once you get it set up it is easy to use. Thanks again Musician's Friend for your help.

        This did a great approximation.
        Needed a Jaguar.
        This did a great approximation.
Saved some buck$ right there just with that.

The above two for some surf/Italian movie type sounds.
Plenty of reverbs to choose from.
        Plenty of modulation effects too.

Really, this thing has so much going for it in such a compact and cost efficient package.

        Plenty of great delays.
        Plenty of great OD/distortion/fuzz.
        Plenty of compressors.

        Chock Full O' Stuff.
Good sounding stuff that gets the job done just fine.

MF shipped mine with the latest software, which I think is version 2.01.

I'm an old phartt so it is likely this will last me for the duration.

Technology marches on and ZOOM continues to be on the forefront when it comes to breaking edge.

Local music stores are really missing a bet by not carrying these.
They have inferior things that cost more.

        Amazing array of effects

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

One reviewer raised the point I do as well...how would anyone be able to use the foot to control/select fX?
There is a bewildering array of FX..all anyone would need.It comes with "presets", which means 2,3,4 FX grouped..some you may like, most you may not..and so, to "redo" these so as to select FX that you prefer...you will spend a LOT of time playing and tweaking the knobs..forget using your foot what with gain, depth, rate, on and on, which requires many hours of trial and error.

Bear in mind I DO like this pedal enough to have built a tube amp around it and especially for it. but instructions, either in print or on the web..are simply not there...no short cuts to learn..you just have to muddle through a confusing array of choices..and sounds coming out the amp..
...which by the way..a normal audio amp for CD's or DVD's requires 3/4 vac to 1 volt AC input to the amp. ( approx 80 millivolts);... and many battery powered pickups for acoustic don't deliver that much, nor do electric body pickups deliver that much..but this pedal serves as a "preamp"..it provides enough signal for your garden variety amp , even those used just for CD/DVD. When the pedal says "overdrive"..it is delivering well over 1 vac...which is really hard on tubes, transformers, and especially speakers.
Overdrive is pushing your tubes to "clipping" which is, really, a square wave...which bangs your speaker badly back and forth...

What you want is the "effect" of overdrive, without actually destroying your amp! And this is the beauty of this pedal..once you scratch your head for days figuring the bewildering thing out..we wish and pray for a simplified instruction manual..which does not seem to exist. Just lots of trial and error is what you wind up doing for days and days.

Comments about Zoom Multistomp MS50G Pedal:

As with most musicians, I ignored the manual and jumped right in. I've only had to consult the manual twice, but...the interface takes a bit of getting used to. Each knob/button is multi-purpose, and you have to step thru menus to get to certain features (ugh). OK...it's a trade-off for the amount of control you have.

First the bad: I use this for processing an Arturia Microbrute and have it mounted so that I control it entirely by hand. I can't honestly see how anyone could use this by just using their feet. The size and position of the knobs preclude such manipulation. Unless you have prehensile feet, that is.

Now the good: excellent sound quality, no strange digital buzzes or ticks (at line level), lots of good FX to pick from.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this to thicken or twist synth sounds. Just mount it where you can reach it with your hands.

Zoom products are underrated. This unit, the MS-50g s sound quality is studio quality! The effects are transparent; they lay on top of your guitar/amp sound. For digital it sounds warm and organic even. It has changed my effects chain big time. I incorporate several new sounds with this added to my rig. However, the instruction manual is insufficient to say the least. It took a month to "break the code" and understand how to program it. It has revolutionized my sound. A winner for sure.

its very easy to use and got perfect sound quality of the amp simulators and most of the single pedals from the drive, distortion, modulation effects.
