Massive fuzz in a hand-silkscreened aluminum chassis.

The Vexter Fuzz Factory from ZVex is a 5-knob fuzz pedal with 2 NOS '60s germanium transistors, and it comes in a hand-polished aluminum chassis with hand-silkscreened, 2-color text. Though the circuit isn't modeled after any one specific classic fuzz, it delivers tones straight out of the 1960s. These 5 knobs control the Fuzz Factory's parameters at various operating levels, letting you shape your own personalized fuzz effect.

ZVex designed the Fuzz Factory to consume less energy than other effects pedals. When on, the Fuzz Factory's current is less than 3 mA. This fuzz pedal is hand-painted and assembled, and each is unique.

Fuzz Factory Controls

Volume: Output level

Gate: Squelches noise after end of sustain. Turn to the right to eliminate squeals, hiss, and buzz, stopping just as they disappear, or use to tune in exact feedback pitch. Turning to the left opens gate.

Compress: Adds attack characteristic when turned to the left, which gets softer to right, and suddenly pinches tone when all the way right. Also tunes in fat, feedbacky fuzz. Lower the Stability and see what happens to this control.

Drive: Increases distortion when used as a "normal" fuzz and adjusts feedback pitch and tonal thickness.

Stability: Use to control feedback pitch. This is one of the more finicky controls, so it will take some experimentation to get it right.

Zvex Fuzz Factory

Features:

The zvex fuzz factory has got some really awesome sounds and unique trademarks that you can't find anywhere! The best part of this pedal can also be the worse part, simply depending on what you prefer. If your one of those people that enjoy getting to know a pedal with time and patience, then this pedal is great for you. Quite frankly the more familiar I get with the pedal the more I enjoy it. I find the discovery of all these little tweaks and different sounds really exciting. I plan to gig with this pedal eventually, but in the meantime the pedal requires alot of getting used to.

Quality:

The quality of this pedal is great! I love the size and the amazing unique tone quality it produces. The overall pedal is pretty solid and like everything the better you take care of it, the longer it will last!

Value:

The pedal is a bit pricey, but it's definately worth it because it is great for what it does. However in comparison to other pedals, there are many GREAT pedals that are great for thier purpose, and they are tons cheaper.

Overall:

Overall I couldn't go wrong with this pedal because Matt Bellamy (the lead singer/guitarist/pianist) of Muse is my greatest inspiration to play guitar, and his style includes some pretty unique/creative riffs. The fuzz factory and creativity go hand in hand! If you are a die hard muse fan, then this pedal is so totally for you. Not to mention i have tried countless different fuzz brands, but the zvex fuzz factory is in it's own league of awesome.

If your interested in this pedal then GET IT, it's so worth it!!!!

Best Fuzz Pedal in years

Warning: This pedal is NOT a toy, will not play safe, don't use it live unless you know it well. Cons: I don't see any. It's a beast, deal with it or buy a safe pedal. Pros: Once you tinker (a lot)and make it work with YOUR gear, it will give you Unique sounds, so write everything down, because every change makes the overall sound different, even radical, just try the pedal with the same settings in different amps and you'll see, change guitars and you'll see. If you don't have time or patience and just want fuzz, get the Big muff or a Fuzz face, they have all the classic sounds with a few simple dials. It's a well built pedal, with quality components, never had a problem with it, personally, I like all Z.Vex pedals, but this one takes the cake.

Pandora's Fuzz Box

This is truly a pandoras box, if you are like me and love tweeking with your FX this is for you.   I've had mine for a couple years now and have fallen in/ out and back in love with this little terror.  Frankly its a great sound when you get it dialed in right, and unfortunately there is no magic formula, the amount of compression, drive, , gate, and stability all depends on the gear around it.  Its very sensitive to how hot your pickups are as well as the impedance up and down stream from it.  Personally my best combo with it so far has been a LP straight into it then follow it up with combinations of fx afterwards from octave, wah, to vibe, then landing it into a high gain amp .  But I do have to admit when you get the right juice flowing it is an ungodly tone that will make you want to just groove on its howls and screams all night.   My advice is get one, and if you don't love it right away, put it away and try again the next time you change up your rig or axe, it will eventually convert you.  I can attest!

I love ZVex pedals and have a couple others (Lo-Fi Loop Junky, Ooh Wah).  Finally got around to buying a Fuzz Factory recently, and holy crap, I can't believe I ever played without it.  The good parts: The sound quality and build quality are tremendous.  You can get some really sick fuzz tones out of this box, and you've got hours of fun just playing with it as soon as you hook it up.  In fact, if you have this, any decent eq, and maybe a Big Muff Pi, you can generate pretty much any fuzz sound you want.  This pedal and its flexibility helped me get over all the single-purpose boutique fuzz boxes I used to lust for (Devi Ever, I'm looking at you).  The less good parts: You have to be willing to tinker a lot to get that kind of variety, and God help you if you accidentally bump the knobs while you're gigging.  Yes, it squeals.  I kind of like the insane self-oscillations and screeches.  If you don't, you'd better be sure to write down settings that work (some good ones are included in the one-page manual).  I have a short list taped to my pedalboard for quick changes during a gig.  On the whole, just a great stompbox, and now the only fuzz/distortion/od pedal on my board.

I had been contemplating buying this fuzz for quite a while. I play bass, and the big muff pi just wasn't really quite doing it for me. I needed more versatility. I realized that I got a this was just the Vexter and not the hand painted one after I bought it (d'oh!), and was worried about quality , but let me assure you...it's chuck full of quality. I have never been this happy after buying a pedal before, you will be too
