Get blistering hot fuzz with this raging pedal.

The ZVex Mastotron Effects Pedal, another in the Vextron series, is a heavy silicon-based fuzz pedal with a lot of controls-volume, tone, pulse width, fuzz, and relax/push. The relax/push controls the input impedance to the pedal. The guitar effects pedal knobs let you adjust for quieter pickups, or softer guitars, and turn it towards the relax setting as you put in active pickups, and turn it all the way to the relax setting for special effects and for line-level signals if you are re-amping a bass off a recorded track. The Mastotron's fuzz control is a wide control over the fuzz depth. Pulse width control goes from a narrow pulse all the way to a nearly square wave pulse. The tone control shaves off the high end. A sub switch lets you set how many subs you have with a "2-1-3" arrangement while the dedicated volume knob controls how loud the guitar pedal gets.

Plug your guitar (or any effect's output) into the input jack. Plug the output into an amp or other effect's input. Set the amp for a warm clean tone on bypass. Turn on the pedal and rock out. Using a guitar or bass, turn the Relax/Push knob down a bit if you need to until the fuzz sounds immediate and tight. Turn the Vextron Mastotron's fuzz control until you're happy, and set the PW to square (counter-clockwise). Adjust the tone for the treble amount you want, and use the sub switch on 3 for full heavy subs for bass or 2 if the subs are overloading your amp.

Set your amp on your favorite clean tone for the most blistering results, while a distorted sound can be very cool as well. Play it into your favorite distortion pedals or direct into the amp for different textures. Try putting weird effects into the ZVex Mastotron pedal and adjust the Relax/Push knob for best interfacing.

If the performance of your fuzz pedal seems diminished or the LED becomes very dim, it's time to change your battery. Remove the four screws on the bottom of the effect pedal and carefully remove and replace the old battery, putting it back exactly in the center of the pedal on edge so that it is gripped tightly by the lid when it is screwed back in place.

Comments about ZVex Vextron Series Mastotron Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have test driven in excess of 20 fuzz pedals, including many of the better known pedals and many lesser known. Even DIY pedals. I couldn't find the right one. There was always something. Some had terrible tone. Some were too noisy. Others wouldn't play well with other pedals. Then I tried the Mastotron. It's awesome. It has great tone. It is quiet, even with single coils. Best of all, it plays well with other pedals, including phase and chorus. It has found a permanent place on my pedal board.

    Freaking Sweet!!!

Comments about ZVex Vextron Series Mastotron Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

A must have in any bassist's or guitarists collection. Zvex outdid themselves with this pedal. If your thinking about it, just go for it and buy it!
My FAVORITE PEDAL! I'm a bass player and I was looking for a refined bubbly fuzz sound, a lot of fuzz but not an overbearing harsh tone like most fuzz pedals give you. Bought this pedal on chance and man did it pay off. The controls are fantastic, very shapable. If your looking for that Muse tone, well its right here too, just tweak a little and you got it. Not a one trick pony pedal, many different fuzz sounds can be made from a couple different tweaks. Real heavy all the way to very suttle. Whats really sweet is it sounds super good when I put it right before my Sansamp Bass Driver D.I. pedal, works really well with all my other effects too. I recorded my bass with this pedal direct into my Mackie blackbird interface and then into Cubase 6 DAW. SOUNDS AMAZING, can't say enough about it.
    Built in the U.S.A.
Fantastic quality all the way, really nice knobs and the paint job looks so cool.
In the grand scheme of fuzz pedals, and all pedals in general, its really not that expensive. For what you get, I would honestly pay twice as much money for it if I had to.

    Wall of Fuzz

Comments about ZVex Vextron Series Mastotron Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got a chance to compare this and the Fuzz Factory and I must say both were excellent. I ended up going with the Mastotron because it gave me that wall of fuzz sound I was looking for with just a tad more presence (at least to my ears). Now I'm rocking it first in my effects chain (sitting in front of Overdrive, Wah and Analog Delay) using a Dean Cadillac. It gives off a lot of sound and the options can get you immensely different sounds, so play around and tick off the settings you love. Simply a very complete fuzz.

    Perfect Black Keys Tone

    By David Needham

Comments about ZVex Vextron Series Mastotron Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is soooo fat sounding. I went into the guitar store with my friend to try it out and he said, "Dang! I can't believe that heavy of a sound comes from that tiny pedal." I have been searching for a long time to find the perfect Black Keys tone, they are the only band I know who can pull off having only drums and guitar and still be heavy and driving. Well I finally found that tone. Freaking incredible. Really I'm not joking. Check out Pro Guitar Shop's demo of it on youtube.
