I don't have to haul my double bass around which is a 4/4 and with the right flatwound strings you couldn't tell the difference.I just wish I could use a bow on it.Some of our songs require I use a bow.

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Series Solo BJ350/CM4 Fretless Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I have played fretless for over 30 yrs, I know a good bass when i play one so when I picked up the bass I immediately changed the strings to flat wound thomastic and also bought a rubber insert into the front sound hole. This stopped the treble end and made the bass sound richer ie similar to a double bass.

My acoustic amps are all schertler so easy to match to an acoustic instrument, however on a couple of gigs I have had so much feedback I have had to revert to a solid body fretless. This is a pain.

Playing is easy with a good response across the fretboard. I found there was a higher than acceptable action when I had the bass, I altered the truss rod but found at the lower action a lot of ring on the E string! As the bridge is fairly cheap you can't individually higher lower each string so I changed the strings as noted above to a lower tension set which did the job and over a week or so the neck came into a good action.

Overall I'm happy but the bass i have now is massively better than the one I purchased all those months ago! You need it set up properly and think about where you sit on live gigs as this is a feedback king. Apart from that I like it and play it often as a 1st choice when it behaves. For to price it's good value.

This bass is simply a step above other comparable basses in tone, looks and playability. The side monitor soundhole is fantastic for keeping your fretless playing in tune, as well. A great instrument that will find its way into your hands over and over again.

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Series Solo BJ350/CM4 Fretless Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

This fretless bass plays very easily for a fretless bass. That being said there are a few places on the fingerboard where the string will rattle. The acoustic sound is pretty loud but a little too trebly for me. Plugged in it sounds amazing and I will use it for recording. Overall it is a great bass for the price, but not a professional level instrument.

              better than AJ250

              By Unnamed User-A2M-2

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Series Solo BJ350/CM4 Fretless Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I had the old AJ250, and it was OK, but I dropped it and it was never the same. I sold it and was without a Acoustic for a while. When I got this BJ350 I was very happy with it. The Baggs pickup is much better than the Fishman. Also, the one shown in the picture is the old model Baggs. The new one is also an upgrade. Very easy to play, good sound, and the "monitor" sound hole is awesome. It looks like they were concerned with balance as the battery compartment for the Baggs is in the tailpiece of the guitar, and it makes for easy access. Great thump!

I bought this bass thinking I would use it once in a while for acoustic jams, but it's become my main bass since I bought it. It's a pleasure just to sit around and play with the radio and not have to have an amp.

I'd Take This Over An Electric ANYDAY

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Series Solo BJ350/CM4 Fretless Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

Played this bass in the store the other day. Ended up buying it two hours later. This thing RESONATES! It has a very deep, sweet, crisp sound (especially after I put on phosphor bronze strings), and it is LOUD! I didn't know acoustic basses could produce this much sound. The solo series "monitor" sound hole is a nice feature--really makes the playing experience more enjoyable. The action is incredible--I could play it with one hand if I wanted to.Plugged in, this bass is hands down the best I've ever heard. Up until I played this one, I was never impressed with acoustic basses, so I was shopping for an electric bass. But when I picked up this one, I was so impressed I bought it instead of the american fretless j-bass.
