I had my eye on this bass for a VERY long time at least a a couple years. I got to play a few of them so I knew I liked the sound and feel then I was in a position to order mine FINALLY. I open the box and the thing doesn't even come with the tiniest slip of paper explaining what each knob is, not a big deal, not too hard to figure out but still you would think it would be there. Next the thing looks GORGEOUS at first glance.. then I got a chance to stare at my dream bass for a few minutes, where it curves at the body to meet the neck on the front there are some minor chips and just a bit off on paint there second there is a long thin scratch down the back of it. Needless to say this bothered me a bit.. I'm considering returning it because of that to get another one.. but I'm not sure yet because I know it will get scratched eventually anyway but I want it to be me who does the scratching! Oh and the strings that are on it are very "lanky" sounding really no other term I can use to describe them. haha Overall this thing is great, plays well, no issues with the action of it or anything just a majority of minor things that earn it a .5 off its otherwise 5 rating.

I received this bass several days ago. When I opened the box it looked fantastic. After tuning the instrument I realized it could not have been set-up, as the string height was way high. I adjusted the truss rod over the next two days until it had no more adjustment and was attempting to strip out the head. The bass still had high action. I decided to try a light string (40-120) set to relieve the bow in the neck. While changing the strings, I realized the nut grooves are smaller than the factory strings sizes because when I pulled the E string out it took the nut with it. After the epoxy was set I realized the light strings helped some. This is a nice looking instrument, well designed and utilizing innovative materials. I wish that the construction was a little more robust.

Cort Curbow 5 String Less Is More

    By diamondtesq@hotmail.com

    from Penticton British Columbia Canada

I bought a 5 string Curbow about a year ago on the advice of a friend. I play the way Hendrix played guitar (left-handed/upside down. I play every weekend and with the exception of the original machine heads I couldn't ask for anything more. I find it incredibly responsive with lots of punch when you need it. I was truly amazed at the Bartalini pickup and the range of sounds you can reproduce like a Fender Percussion or Jazz, Gibson EB series from the 70's. I would recommend this bass to anyone who plays a wide range of music and it can cover it all.==

    Great access to upper frets...

    By DreemReel

    from Panama City, FL

The tone is strong across the strings. B-string volume was a little weak, but I adjusted the pickup slightly closer to the bass side ... fixed!I got so excited about this bass, I put in a regular Bart p/u and preamp. They don't fit in the back so we had to do a few mods ... but now the sound is a monster. HUGE tone ... ballsey b-string with all the piano like clarity you need. Sounds almost like a piezo bridge sometimes.I have a had issues with the neck though ... it needs occasional tweaking. Probably because its so thin. But it plays like it's part of you. I love this bass. I also own a Ric 4001, and Fender Geddy Lee Jazz. Buy this bass.

    Simply Stunning

    By Lunes Azul

This bass is a fantastic purchase. I play a jazz/funk/ rock fusion and the clarity and tone are very good. The cutaway allows for quick access to high end fretwork and the overall feel of the neck and body is very comfortable. When I am on stage, I get a lot of positive comments from other bass players, who are usually curious as to what kind of bass it is. Even when I decide to get a new bass, this one will never leave my arsenal.

Hard to beat for the money

    By Joe-MxDpD

Had this bass for about 2 years now and I have to say even today I still play it regularly. The slap switch is nice to have. I have a Spector and upper echelon Fenders and this thing keeps up pretty well.

I have had the 6 string version for 2-3 years and its amazing. The slap switch is a cool thing to have. Tone is amazing even when your strings are getting worn out. Overall this is the best bass ive played out of many.

    Good Stuff

    By toolrules2345

Ive been playing this bass for over a year now and i love it. i run it through a backline combo amp and it sounds sweet. The slap switch is basically useless though. I re-wired it so it acts as a killswitch. Overall this is a great buy.

    Love it!!!!!!!!!!!

    By madman_bassist

    from Thomasville, GA

I have had this bass for about 4 months and I love it. I love the low end that is very accessible. I love the low cut away. Basically the whole thing is a dead wrap up for a bass. Like I said it has been close to for months and (though I'm getting new ones) I am still playing with the same strings. My last bass the strings lasted for 2 months so it is awesome right "out of the box"!

    awsome

    By Mo-fr8bG

    from Pelham, GA

I've owned this bass for alittle over a year, and it's about the best 5 String I've played. The tone is out of this world, it's amazing for slap style and finger playing. The only down fall is it's not easy to play seated.

    Junk

    By TheBassPlayer-QIcOQ

    from fort washington, maryland

I got this bass just on the write up for the product.. and for the same price you can get an Ibanez. The Cort is junk I hate it. I play the five string and there is no clearity on my low note the thing just sounds like I am playing a piece of plastic. In my opinion a save your money and buy a good bass! Unless you like the sound of a crappy bass. The only good thing I can say about it is I no longer play the thing. Forget about slap picking its junky. I saved up money with the motivation of wanting to buy a good bass after playing this thing. I got a Warwick and now I am in heaven. When I comes to tone the wood that the bass is constructed of makes all the difference.
