this is a sweet bass, I tried it at the store for a week, kept going back until I bought it. the one pickup has one volume and one tone control. the TC is better than fender's! I have several other basses, including a fender jazz bass, peavey BXP, cort, a couple of schecters, a custom hollow body 5 string fretless: THIS IS MY NEW favorite, the voice is sweet, has good clear highs and retain the lows! I recommend this to any bassist! its pretty, too!

This was my first bass so I thought I would go the inexpensive route for a start. I decided that this was as good a bass as I wanted for my first guitar. It looked nice when it came out of the package. One of the first things I noticed was that whenever I played a note on any string on the first two frets, the string would rattle on the fret below it. I adjusted the saddles stupidly high...it would STILL hit the lower frets. Sighting down the neck, it is straight except for the last 4 inches, where it bends back a bit.If you are going to buy this guitar, make sure you try it out first. I am going to return this and spend an extra hundred at the local guitar shop for a decent bass.

Comments about Dean Edge 09 4-String Electric Bass Guitar - Mahogany Finish:

All it took was a tuning peg change, which I did myself, and I now have a fully functioning, rocking bass at an unbelievable price. I've used it for both home recording and jams and I'm very, very pleased at its performance for both. Thanks Musician's Friend, for this awesome instrument!

Review for the price... Seriously this bass is top quality!

      By Zach-OnpI_

Comments about Dean Edge 09 4-String Electric Bass Guitar - Mahogany Finish:

I bought this bass to learn as a beginner. I play a wide variety of instruments and I was expecting a bass in this price range to be of lesser quality than something in the 2-300 dollar range. I was pleasantly suprised when this arrived at my door. Yes the finish is basic. Yes it's a bolt on neck, and yes there is only one soap bar pickup. But I'm an experienced musician and learning to play this thing over the past few days has been an absolute joy! I'm seriously considering buying another just so someone else can jam along with me... but I should probably spend that on more soft synths.

      GOOD TONE for great price!

      By TadSharpe

Comments about Dean Edge 09 4-String Electric Bass Guitar - Mahogany Finish:

I have everything from a $99 j-bass I upgraded with dimarzio's to $2200 custom jobs. THIS IS GREAT from factory, especially for $139! I automatically upgrade ALL my instrument jacks to $6 switchcraft input jacks, as I hate the two cent factory jacks most factories put in, and plan to drop in a fatter and larger bridge in the future for fun and giggles. the neck plays VERY nicely, smoothly. its lightweight. The tone control has a wider range than ANY FENDER under $800.... overall I LOVE IT!

      DO NOT BUY

Comments about Dean Edge 09 4-String Electric Bass Guitar - Mahogany Finish:

I wouldnt want this bass at all!! if your absolutely broke or if your kid quits easily and wants to try bass, get it. If your highly interested in bass and all you can afford is this, get a job and save. its a waste of money. This bass is sooo slow, the input jack just isnt designed well at all, and it is awkward to play and move. Overall it sucks. Get a cheaper ltd, schecter, or ibanez. Dean only has one good thing- made in USA

      Great Beginner Bass

      By BassistSager

Comments about Dean Edge 09 4-String Electric Bass Guitar - Mahogany Finish:

First bass I owned. Great bass for the price, sounds great, pretty heavy compared to other bass guitars. I got it for my birthday in the pack, I loved it, fret buzz is pretty annoying, but when you figure out how to place your fingers on the fretboard. Buy it for your kid who wants to learn bass. I highly recommend it.

      Great sound!

      By dwhite

Comments about Dean Edge 09 4-String Electric Bass Guitar - Mahogany Finish:

I love the sound of this bass! My guitar teacher has a bass worth 5 times as much and he says this bass sounds better. It has a long substain, I can't detect any decay over a long, slow measure. I'm thinking this will be my first and last bass as I've not heard anything better yet. I don't know if they're all this good but mine is! For the money, it's a no brainer.

      Good Bass for Hobbyists

      By Rhythym Section

Comments about Dean Edge 09 4-String Electric Bass Guitar - Mahogany Finish:

I bought this bass about a month ago and I love it. The fret buzz is annoying, but you can avoid it with proper playing. A great bass for slap bass, but a slightly slow neck. Professionals avoid. Beginner-Advanced go for it!

      Worst Bass Ever

      By Matt Overboard

      from New York

Comments about Dean Edge 09 4-String Electric Bass Guitar - Mahogany Finish:

THIS BASS IS HORRIBLE! The neck is SO slow, finish scracthes easy, has almost no tone. But a good value if your broke otherwise save your money and buy a squier(sounds just as good as fender).
