Comments about Dean Hillsboro Single Active Electric Bass Guitar:

i got one of these before, since it was used I could not properly evaluate it. I tried one at a music store that was incredible. with that said I decided to give it another go. the one I got had a few faults (frets needed a pinch of attention, minute hiss when tone cranked,(iffy when recording)finish flaws, very cheap plating etc) certain things stood out,the neck was one of the most comfortable and familiar I have played, like a small baseball bat, that did not balloon as it went down the neck ,like other necks.lack of thick finish added to comfort and ease of whipping up and down the neck. if you have small or weak hands, YOU WILL LIKE THIS NECK. can slap for days! THE SOUND IS INCREDIBLE, the two band EQ is a bit limited but it is dialed in quite well to give you good control,it growls and spits like a dragon. if you want something thats a mix of a rick, musicman, jazz bass this hits it right on the head. IT IS WELL WORTH A TRY. depending on your tastes, you will be quite surprised. I must mention that DEAN customer service IS one of the best I have ever encountered.(nothing to do with this purchase, but I wanted to add this as a positive reinforcement to try one of these) MF Customer service is stellar too!!bass is made in china, but you can tell this was an idea conceived in the U.S.A. it is very unique.

Comments about Dean Hillsboro Single Active Electric Bass Guitar:

Nothing at all wrong with the Hillsboro Single. This bass feels exceptionally good for its price point. Quality of wood, finish and hardware are acceptable. Bass stays in tune and the bridge is solid. I use mine as a backup bass (sometimes use it as my gigging bass depending on location). Although not needed, I did swap out the pickup and pre-amp for EMG MMCS and BTC to better replicate my main gigging bass.

If you are on a budget and looking for a good sounding and feeling bass, the Hillsboro Single is a great place to look.

Comments about Dean Hillsboro Single Active Electric Bass Guitar:

boy deans quality control is going downhill, besides the fact that m.f sent me a used one with someones paw prints all over it. hissed something awful, was un-usable,probably why it was sent back. Felt and sounded like a cheap piece of junk. but maybe it was just this one, doubt it. People for heavens sake, MF is cool enough to let you try stuff, send it back in order and clean please.if its broken TELL THEM
