      Dean

      A mean Dean metal machine.

The Dean ML Metalman is designed to look right onstage in a metal band, and it has a single massive Dean humbucker stuck next to the bridge to make it sound right. Gets an edgy, growly tone with lots of hair.

      Case sold separately.

The Dean Metalman ML bass is just pure awesome. I bought it over a year ago and have played it constantly since. The feel is wonderful, and the tone is awesome! Depending on your amp, you can get all sorts of tones out of this, like a low mid range pounding like that of Metallica to a still pounding but higher end choppy crunch like that of Anthrax, both of which I use a lot. You can get tones like John Deacon (Queen) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin, duh) too. It's tough too. I play really hard and beat the crap out of my instruments and it more than stands up. It can also hold all sorts of tunings from standard to drop A. I still can't find a bass I like as much as this one. I can't find one with equal feel or sound to satisfy me. I only gave the features four stars because it only has one pickup, but you can still draw a lot from it. Great sound, great feel, great quality. All in all it's a great bass and I'd reccomend it to a beginner or a professional.

Put quite simply, if you like a bass with a good sound, good playability and a reasonable price, try an Epiphone Thunderbird, not this one. If, however, you want something to constantly work on and never find yourself any more satisfied, go for it, but you've been warned.
This bass doesn't really have any features to speak of. It's a slab of wood with a pickup, neck and controls. Very minimalist.
The ML Metalman has a fairly comfortable body, but the maple headstock is so heavy compared to the basswood body that, if you aren't careful, it'll do a nose dive to the floor. As to sound quality, while the Metalman has decent enough power, the sound has virtually no definition and no sustain.
After dropping money on this bass, it only took a few weeks for the initial quality I'd experienced at the guitar shop to deteriorate.

Great fun to play but when it comes to recording there is a way better option.
fantastic at shows and gets a good reaction from the crowd the action is pretty high though.

      Beast

Comments about Dean ML Metalman 4-String Bass Guitar:

It plays great, you can really beat on the strings without any fret buzz. The neck is a bit rough when compared to a more expensive bass, but that's only to be expected. Nice and heavy. Nice and beastly. If ya wanna rawk, this bass is a dream. If you're planning on auditioning for a country band, might be a good idea to look elsewhere.

I bought this bass a few years back (when I first started playing) and honestly I messed up. Don't get me wrong this is a decent bass, but it's large radical shap doesn't do well for playability.

      Dean Metalman ML Bass

Comments about Dean ML Metalman 4-String Bass Guitar:

I've been playing 18 years & never had a bass fell so & play so comfortably as this Dean. It is a passive, 1 pickup model. It has a HUGE unconvential body shape, but it molds itself right to your body. It is simple and effective.I play in a hard rock band. It cuts through two guitars with no problems. I found this bass to have a lot of different tones. I combine it with an Ibanez combo amp and I could not be happier with this bass! All this for short dollars too!

      Good starter bass

      By Anonymous

Comments about Dean ML Metalman 4-String Bass Guitar:

I got this bass a year ago and it still works perfectly fine. One nob for the volume and the other for... idk? It doesn't do anything, it's just there. But, other than that, really good. Sounds good pluged into almost anything, and it's really sturdy. Because of the extra long neck, I've accidentally smacked it into the wall more than a few times, but it still works as good as new. Overall, good bass, good sound quailty (for the price), and I reccomend it to the people who don't have the money for a better one. Don't get me wrong, it's really good, but you get what you pay for.

      Decent Starter Bass

Comments about Dean ML Metalman 4-String Bass Guitar:

Top heavy for sure, cool lookin' bass though, seems like the tone knob doesn't put much out, but for a starter, not bad, I wish i would have gotten a better bass though, but, what do ya expect, ya get what ya pay for.

      This bass ROCKS!

Comments about Dean ML Metalman 4-String Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass a while ago, and it's pretty awesome. I haven't used it except for at home or jamming with my friends, until yesterday. Me and my friends had to play a song with our school choir for my sister's graduation, and this bass rocked. I got so many compliments on the looks and the sound. I was very pleased. It could have been the amp, but this bass was perfect for playing for over a thousand people. I'm more than pleased with this purchase, except the only case that it fits in is $130.
