best bass I've played, and I tried out A LOT.
it's a pretty basic one pickup setup, which is what I wanted. the thing can do just about any ganre, although engineered for metal, it's got a really good hendrixy sound.
the neck is perfect for my guitar player hands and the corner near the pickup is perfect for a thumbrest
this is amazing for the price. get it.

I finally went for a V bass since not many are using them & thought I'd go for something different. The only complaint I really have is the pick-up.. It is too hot for any thing other that "metal".....You cannot achieve real deep tone with this even doing the adjustments on the amp..I will now be looking to replace the pick up. Oh.........& buy the case... you need it for this one!

Comments about Dean Z Metalman 4-String Bass:

recieved bass and inspection set-up card was not filled out , from factory. Neck had a bad hump in it , could not be played . Dean Guitars was no help. I own 4 other basses and have never had a problem with MF. Buyer Beware of Dean JUNK!!!!

Comments about Dean Z Metalman 4-String Bass:

Well this is a good bass for beginners but don't expect this to be your one and only though. The pickups are ok the neck is extremely comfortable and not too fat and over the guitar is a great buy for a low price.

great bass!

Comments about Dean Z Metalman 4-String Bass:

i recently bought this bass with tax refund money. boy, was this a deal, great tone, great feel in your hands, plus you feel like a rockstar right out of the box with its extreme design.the only problems i've had is trying to find a case that will hold a bass with such a radical shape and with a guitar strap on the neck seems heavy and wants to slide down out of reach. a change of placement of the strap pegs would probably help.overall a really mean bass and a great buy for someone who wants to get into playing bass, especially metal/metalcore.

Comments about Dean Z Metalman 4-String Bass:

This is a good bass. I got mine for x-mas. I got some new knobs on it so it looks good. It is very hard to find a case for it. I think the only case that will fit it is the dean case that is made especially for it. It is 53 inches long when basses are normally 47 to 48 inches long. It sounds great on an amp. Great buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and cheap too.

An Excellent Metal Bass

Comments about Dean Z Metalman 4-String Bass:

After playing for several years, I finally ventured into the "extreme" body styles. Right out of the box, this thing makes you feel like a rock star, even before you plug it in. Once you do, you'll be amazed by the THUMP this thing can produce -- the lows just growl out of your amp, and the sustain on open notes and harmonics is ridiculous. The neck has a low profile but an exceptionally solid feel, great for digging into on wild string bends or heavy lines. The highs are smooth and EQ nicely, better than many other basses I've seen and certainly better than any in this price range. The only drawback is finding a case to fit it -- but the standard bass Coffin Case fits it nicely with a simple modification.

its hell finding a case

Comments about Dean Z Metalman 4-String Bass:

I got this bass for christmas, first of all when it first came in the elctronics didn't work and the knobs were about to fall off. But, once I got my new one in it sounded great, nice tone, its clear. Its a great buy specialy for a metalhead ,but, the problem is I cant find a case for it anywhere. So, if your not worried about that go for it its a good buy.

When I first got this bass I really liked it. Over time you will probably want to upgrade. Also I would recomend you buy a case with it if you take it on the road often.

Great Buy.

Comments about Dean Z Metalman 4-String Bass:

I got this for this past christmas and have had no problems with the product itself. I use this in a Deathrash Band, somewhere between Slayer and Cannibal Corpse, and this thing is PERFECT for that type of music. Gets all those good thumpy, grinding tones. When I first got it, I had a bit of fret buzzing, but it seems to have eveed out on its own. It's also good for playing softer styles of music, but obviously with this body style you won't be doing that much.I give the features an 8 only because of the functionality of the knobs. The volume knob is either all the way down, or all the way as far as controlling the volume, and the tone knob doesn't seem to have any effect, but this is tpyical of basses in this price range.Overall a great buy. I would consider this for any intermediate player needing an evil bass on a budget.
