I got this bass from my wife for my brithday. (yeh...cool wife, huh?) It is THE most comofrtable bass I have ever played on, end of story. After playing this for a while, I find it hard to switch to a standard-body bass. It is very light, but still has planty of sustain. I only wish theat the sunburst had not been discontinued; black was my second choice. I am replacing the bridge (which is quality, but doesn't match the color) with a black Bada** and a the pickups(also quality) with creme colored dimarzio's , just for a cooler look.. the 2 volume knobs have clear contrast between the 2 pickups, and a very versatile blend feature lets you eq in just the right tone for your amp. Buy this bass, it's great. or have your wife buy it. who cares?

KILLS!!!!!!!

By thewarlok

from Arkansas

this thing rips, i play lead bass style (cliff burton, les claypool, steve harris, etc) and this bass works with it, usually the simplest bass is best for lead work, so i normally played on a p bass, but i wanted another pickup so i got this dropped a set of dimarzio's in it, and it roars, its light, comfortable, wild, and sounds great even with the stock pickups, i just bought mine used and the jazz pickup fizzed real bad is why i changed my pickups. this thing new must really kill, this bass is by far my favorite. plus its very warm overdriven. so yeah....get it!

Shweet

By Wrathbassman

This bass is probably the best bass Ive ever owned. I've owned fenders and gibsons and they all suck compared to this bass. It is very light and I don't think its neck heavy at all. This bass is simply awesome and the explorer shape satisfies my need for an extreme shape. Buy this bass now.

Awesome.

By Michael Robison

from San Jose, CA

I love this bass so much. I love the sound it makes, how light the body is, and how many frets there are. The only complaints would be about how neck heavy it is, and how you're pretty screwed if you want to use strap locks, since the top strap knob is on the neck itself, and the bolts you usually get for the strap locks are a lot smaller then what you need to keep the neck in place. Also, you need to adjust the action on it big time. All in all though, my favorite bass :)

RIGHT ON!!!

By Kristar

from New York, NY

I can simply say RIGHT ON!!!, it feels awesome, plays awesome, great tone, great look. I own 3 basses and this is my favorite one. Dean makes great quality guitars and it looks like I'll stick to them from now on. Really worth the money. The only downfall is the size and difficulty of getting a case for this bass.

love it

I have the Dean Z Vintage Bass in sunburst and it is a beauty. Not only does it look great and have a shape rare to bass guitars, it sounds amazing as well. I haven't had any problems with it, and I've owned it for a year.

waited a while but it was well worth it

By Phil anselmo is GOD

from R.I. in the sticks

I had to wait for this bass to come from me straight from guitar center incase i didnt like it it would be easier to return but after playing it i didn't even think of returning it I am very glad that not many of dean's basses use active pick ups unlike many ibanez basses that i have seen (who wants to have to change a battery every so often when there is no real need for it). it also has a really nice sound compared to my previous bass. i am not at all suprised to see this item on backorder again it is a really great price and pretty darn cheap. also check out dean's ML vintage its got the same style as Dimebag from PanterA (metal gods) a definite bass for beginner or pro.

Great Sound, Great Shape, Great Price

By Alex-kp78l

from Colorado

this is my first bass with passive pickups and i could not be happier. all in all it is an excellent guitar. the sound is very warm and crisp, and the 24 frets allow for many possibilities while playing. for the money, sound, and classic shape it is a great buy and addition to your collection.
