This is a great bass with a couple of tweaks. Spend $50.00 bucks (or do it yourself) Switch out the junk pots with CTS 1MGs in the volumes and a 250k in the tone, put in a good cap (I used an orange drop) replace the plastic nut with graphite or bone and do a set up. This Bass comes alive! Sounds as good or better as the GIBSON version for hundreds less and holds its own against many other Basses that are three tinmes the price. Great neck, smooth frets and easy to adjust to you style of playing! This is a Great Bass!

I play in a rock band and when I first got this bass it played great. If i had done this review 6 mos after I got it, it would've gotten a 5 across the board. But about a year after I got it the neck started bowing to side and backwards. I sent it to Gibson and even though it was bowed they just made adjustments & replaced the nut. I played it for a while and it played alright but now i've run out of adjustments and the e string when playing an f or f# buzzes bad so now i'm sending it back to Gibson a second time. I still like epiphone guitars but I gotta tell you i'm overall a little disappointed.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special Bass with Flame Maple Top:
I had an early 60's Gibson EB-O that I let get away in the early 70's that I am still sick over!
For my 65th birthday last year I broke down and gave myself this Les Paul Special in Cherry.
Other than having to "loctite" the output jack that kept coming loose, this axe has been amazing! The finish is flawless, the sustain is amazing and the neck is at least as good as my old Gibson!BUY THIS GUITAR!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special Bass with Flame Maple Top:
I'm a guitarist who started messing around with home recordings. I wanted to buy a bass (for simple bass riffs) to add to my recordings. I am very happy with my purchase. Great price, good quality and a really beautiful look--Les Paul styled. Based on this purchase, I now find myself intrigued and inspired enough to learn how to really play bass. Thanks, MF!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special Bass with Flame Maple Top:
I have been playing bass for 26 years. This is a great bass; great tones; great playing instrument. Slim neck, and holds it's tune VERY WELL. You get your money's worth out of it! I love it! Being a girl bass player, sometimes it is heay on the left side and pulls down. It is mahogany, so I will take the warm tones any day!
Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special Bass with Flame Maple Top:
Nice bass.
Neck heavy, so it didn't turn out to be a good choice for my son, who cares a lot about the balance. It's got very good tone, and the action is good. Prefer a bolt-on neck, so getting a Squier Jaguar instead.
Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special Bass with Flame Maple Top:
I purchased this bass in trans black back in December and was so pleased with it that i ordered one in trans red this week and i received it today and couldn't be happier, the picture doesn't do it justice it is a lot better looking than the picture shows, however i do recommend that you go ahead and order new strings and strap locks other than that it is perfect!!!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special Bass with Flame Maple Top:
Have had this bass a while. I am new to the world, but enjoy buying basses that get good reviews. I have the AXL and Gretsch along with an OLP Stingray. I hated this bass initially. The strings were a bit high and I struggled to get sound after this. But, now that I am getting just a bit better at this, suddenly all the reviews from experienced players are making sense. I am enjoying this as my main practice bass as I learn how difficult it is to be proficient. Drums came easy, this is not. I highly recommend this bass for those that like a very versatile bass that sounds good through an acoustic mini stack of a vintage Ampeg SVT set up.
