Even cooler without the frets.

Introduced in 1976, the StingRay was the first bass guitar to feature active electronics and advancements such as a 6-bolt neck joint, contoured body, superior neck truss-rod system, and rock-solid bridge, all of which keep it on top of the pack. The StingRay is constructed with a select hardwood body, maple neck, Schaller BM tuners, 2-band active EQ, and a MusicMan humbucking pickup.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Unlined Fretless Bass:

Awesome bass! Nice finger made of pau ferro, ebony would have been nice.Pau ferro to me is better than rosewood, because its harder less pourous.Ebony just a tad bit too bright for that nice fretless sound. As usual Musicmans, craftmenship is spot on.2BAND EQ is where its at,better bass frequency. Mids still can be control without a mid control.Nice Bass.

    SR4 FL

    By Golem

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Unlined Fretless Bass:

Lotsa players consider the fretted SR to be a great slappy funk ax and of my various FLs on hand, I've come to realize that the same tonal qualities that make a slap bass are needed for an FL bass, if you want that organic woody voice. One of my SRs also has the piezo bridge, and while it IS a pricey option, it's also the ultimate FL version of the SR. The FB is pau ferro, so it can stand up to RWs. The FB is also the reason I didn't give this a full 5.0 rating. This is such a great FL bass but an ebony FB has a sound that even pau ferro can't touch, and for the price, this one should be ebony as well. The 3-band EQ is very powerful, and the PU is passive. It WILL play with a dead battery, but it then has no EQ adjustment. Still a cool failsafe.

    Fretless bass

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Unlined Fretless Bass:

A great bass. I took the stock strings off and put on some D'Addario chromes XL, gave it a nice warm sound. The case is cheap plastic and would be nice to have a better case for the price. Overall I'm pleased with the bass.
