I bought this bass as my first bass, the only others I had had for years were always borrowed from friends. When I got this bass I was really excited, the value of this thing is absolutley incredible! When compared to the other options within the price range of this bass, there wasnt even a decision. This thing is worth as much as a bass 100 dollars more. Its got a six bolt neck that is not only easy to play and learn on, but has sustain that will last FOREVER!! More than I would expect from a neck-thru bass. There is a fair bit of range as to the tone of the bass, but if you want something really amazing, get a jazz or p bass. Its a gat bass, but for the price you pay you cannot expect the same level of quality you would from a bass twice as much. When I got the bass I had to adjust the action, but its fine now so its not really a complaint I guess. Also, the strings have a tendency to buzz if you dont get your fingering PERFECT, you get used to it very quickly and its fine, but for some people who are learning this could be a problem. And the bass looks AMAZING, its so beautiful, I get comments all the time, this thing is so beautiful. I have the transparent red finish. I love this bass so much, and I still keep it as my backup and only 4 string I own. For the amount you pay, this bass is absolutely incredible! Anyone who wants to learn bass should consider this. I am so pleased with it and I know you will be to!
Basically, this bass plays like a bass that's at least twice as expensive. The active pickups sound amazing and punchy, the neck is incredibley playable, and the finish (especially the blue) looks phenomenal. You generally don't see a beautiful flamed-top finish and active eq pickups in a bass at this price range. There are only a couple other basses that are in the same value league as the ESP b-154, and this one is their champion. Believe it! It's sturdy as hell, too. It's funny, I hate ESP electric guitars, but after searching for the best bass, I ended up with this ESP. Consider me converted i guess...
I grabbed this guitar off the rack on looks alone. When I seen the price, I was blown away. I wasn't even in the market for a new bass, but couldn't pass it up. When I played it, that sealed the deal. The pickups are very usable, nice and quiet, until you thump the strings. Good response from them too. I like it a lot so far.
I bought this bass as my first bass you couldn't ask for a better one starting off the pickups have awesome tone and the body is great guitar for a great price I would buy it over again!
its a great bass esp. for the beginner, i have had mine for nearly two years and i love it, the pick up are awsome, in my opinion they are right under the emg's which sound like angels. so if your looking for a great bass for half the price then look no further.
I've been plaing guitar for around six years now and always have wanted to expand to other insturments. After sinking quite a bit of money into my guitar hobby alone I really didn't want to spend a whole lot on other instuments. I had been thinking about getting a bass for a few years now and recently had some extra cash to buy a bass and a small rig. I was looking around on the site for something nice and I came across this bass. Looks really dont matter to me in an insrtument the finish is pretty much invisible when it comes to the overall sound. But sometimes it is nice to have something that can catch your eye. This bass is pretty nice, good action out of the box, nice pickups, great hardware, good tone and a nice looking finish to boot. I can get some really deep bass from this thing which was what I was looking for to begin with. The neck is nice and fast with a silky smooth feel to it. I was concerned about the frets cuttin up my hand along the finger board but they've been filed down to a nice smooth feeling that you don't even notice when you're playing. The body and neck are well balanced and the over all weight of the bass is pretty light compared to some others I've played on. Overall a nice bass for a beginner or for someone looking to branch out to other instrument.
I have been playing bass guitar for about 2 years now and this bass was given to me from a friend and it rocks. It sounds great and looks awesome. It is a bass for people who are just learning but it will set you off on the right foot.
the bassist in my band uses this and it sounds amazing. it has an awesome punch when going for the pop sound and can give a really deep tone. i am amazed by the range it gives and can stand out among the guitar if you want. i have played it a couple times while at band practice and the fretboard and neck are very slick and easy to move along. i highly recommend it.
