Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

really good bass for the buck. played many shows with this bass before upgrading to another bass. it is a little neck heavy, so can be a wierd feel when you're moving around on stage at times, but sound is good; very decent bass. definitely worth the price.

A bass that won't dissapoint

By Vincent Grim

from MI

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

Okay, so while other people buy a bass guitar without first checking out their options and then write reviews saying it's the best thing ever. I do not. I spent two months comparing this bass to the Epiphone Thunderbird, Epiphone EB-3, B.C. Rich Bronze Warlock, Ashbory Bass, and Dean ML Vintage Bass... Note that I played all of these instruments side by side before settling on my ESP. Out of all of these basses, the ESP LTD Ex-104 is the one that won't limit you. While people have successfully played in a metal band with a Ashbory, or a jazz band with a Dean ML. They could sound better. The EX-104 is the only bass in this price range that you can rock out on, and then play a jazz tune and sound just as good by simply messing with your 3-band EQ, where as you may find yourself needing an effect pedal with the other basses...The EX-104 will do everything you want it to, jazz, rock, metal, country, it can even get a thumb for hip-hop, and it will all sound great.Oh, and on a last note, the factory set-up was incredible, no buzz, no messed up wiring, good action, and I could not justify buying new strings right away.

Great Bass

By Frank-V1lTU

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

I've been playing bass for about 4 years and have played on a fender bass the whole time. So it came time to buy a new one I wanted a change, I bought this bass and it is a whole lot better then my fender. It has a deeper tone and plays great. It's a little heavy but nothing to get worked up about.

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

I just bought this bass from a friend. He played this with a little 30 watt amp, in a band. It sounded amazing. He had it for about six months and got a new one. He decided to sell it and I bought it. I am in a hardcore/ metal band and it sounds amazing. It is a great deal!

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

I've been playing bass for a year. I have played Fender and Ibanez basses but this bass is my favorite. The pickups are great, it sounds great, everything works perfect, it looks wicked. It's just all around a good bass and the best you can buy for your money. If your looking for a good bass at a good price, buy this one.The only thing about this bass I did not like was the fret buzz it had when I first got it. But with an adjustment of the truss rod, it works perfect.

Great Bass

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

This is my first bass and it is amazing. The tone is great, the pickups are good, and it is comfortable to play. The only bad thing is that it can be hard to get around with it because of the shape, so it will probably get dinged up a bit. But overall this is a great bass and I would recommend it to anyone.

It speaks for itself

By Lars Henderson

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

First off, just look at the price tag. I was saving up for a Rickenbacker 4003 and told my brother, "the only way my next bass isn't a rickenbacker is if ESP comes out with an explorer bass." Next thing you know it's two weeks later, I see that ESP has a new bass. It was the EX-104 and I immediately ordered it and there was no disappointment when it showed up on my door step. I'm in a thrash metal band that plays pretty often and this thing has yet to fail me. I play it through a "crappy" Behringer 4x10 with a 450 watt head, but I couldn't ask for a better sound even through a CRAPPY Behringer 1x15 I borrowed from a fellow musician and you can get any tone you want from a Music Man to a P bass to a J bass to whatever you're looking for. This thing is amazing, especially for such a low price.

Great Beginner's Guitar

By Anubis_Priest

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

The ESP LTD EX104 is a good beginner?s Bass that will last a player a long time. I tried other guitar makes and models in store (including the AX-54 & AX-104) before I purchased this one and found it to compare with the more expensive models on the rack. The sound is good and strong with a nice crispness to it while the guitar?s sound is easily modified using effects pedals and amp effects. It really is a testament to the ESP LTD line and their ability to create a nice guitar with a reasonable price tag.I bought the ESP LTD EX104 in a factory sealed box with the strings nearly in tune and a perfect, bright shine to the finish. This guitar is something I can ?abuse and pound hard? when I needed to. I replaced the strings with D'Addario EXL230 Heavy Long Bass Strings and lowered the action as low as I could without causing buzz on the hard picking: The ESP LTD EX104 has created a unique, crisp sound when using fingers on the strings. On the downside: Like any guitar the manufacturer expects the factory strings to be abused a bit in the store, so replace them as soon as you get it. I have also had some problem getting a case to fit: only an ESP case built for it will fit the unusual ?Z design? shape of the ESP LTD EX104, and ESP has been making their cases so close to size that some come too small/tight for the guitar (loose factory tolerances?).Because of the unusual shape causing me problems to get a proper case I gave the features a 4.5. Rating the ESP LTD EX104 as a beginners guitar in the low-end price range, I can give it 5.0 overall.

New Bassist Review

By Stormboli

from Rochester, NY

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

I am just starting to learn to play Bass so I picked up this bass to save money instead of buying a starter kit then spending even more to get a good bass when I get really into it. So far I love this bass, the sound is great, has a solid look, and seemed like one of the best choices. Only complaint I got is the bass needed to have the neck adjusted once I got it.

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

WOW!! That is all I have to say! This Ax has the most kick a** growl you will ever hear on a bass this cheap, this makes the thunderbird seem like a cheap toy! If your familiar with the other F-104 you know it's a bit bulky, not this one it sounds a bit deeper but a lot more user friendly and slimmer for smooth play. Just throw on some elixers and your ready to shred!

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

Well there are only a few bass explorers out now and they are either bad or expensive. as soon as i saw this bass, i decided to get it. the sound is fantastic, mostly for rock or metal and very nice pickups, and the strings are great too, no need to change them as soon as you get the bass. Excellent sounding bass

By addbp18

from San Antonio

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

Well I have owned this bass for quite some time now and its the best instrument I've played hands down. The 3 band EQ will instantly switch from a floor-rumbling lows to a ear screaming highs and everything in between! The only thing I felt that wasn't so good was the fret buzz when I first got it, but switching the action will get rid of it. This bass is excellent for just about any kind of rock, the highs are solid like the lows. This is an excellent bass of choice to whoever digs both performance and stage presence.

Incredible Axe at an Amazing Price!

Comments about ESP LTD EX104 Bass Guitar:

Okay so I've wanted an explorer bass for years. One day I happen to go by a local music shop to get some strings and out of the corner of my eye I see the bass I've been looking for. Active Pickups, 3-band EQ, Shred-Friendly neck, and all that with looks that kill. It was love at first sight. I played it for a half hour and just had to have it. I was running through a crappy practice amp with no effects and it still sounded amazing! Then I saw the price tag and was even more shocked. I'm not one to go out and buy something on impulse but this was too good to be true! I bought it right then and there and have been using it at every band practice and show I've played since. But like all instruments, it still has its flaws. I've owned it for the past 5-6 months and here's what I've noticed:-I've been looking everywhere and it's next to impossible to find any type of case for it -Like most guitars with an awkward shape, they chip really easy if you're not careful (especially since it's so hard to find a case!)-If you haven't already invested in strap locks, get some. If you don't it's nearly impossible to play standing up-Recently it's starting to go out of tune really bad. I'll play for like 10 mins and it's horribly flat. I'm gonna take it in but I can almost guarantee you it needs new tuners. Easy fix but frustrating none the less. Other than that this bass is solid and well worth the money!
