OVERVIEW

Neck-thru design for tonal intensity!

The inspiration for the unique shape and design of the LTD F-4E Bass Guitar from ESP would appear to be a mix of Route 66 Interstate signs and weaponry from an old Dungeons & Dragons manual. Forgoing the traditional, rounded apple bottom bass, the LTD F series basses feature off-centered curves, beveled edges, and points in places you won't see on any other guitar, let alone a bass. The double cutaway design makes the upper and lower horns appear to be a skeletal finger and thumb respectively.

However, the ESP LTD F-4E differs from it's siblings in that it features a 5-piece maple/mahogany neck-thru-body design, a mahogany body with a flamed maple top, and an ebony fingerboard. All of the distinct, natural hues of these woods combine to give the axe an even more unique look than the single colored versions. It really is a feast for the eyes.

The LTD F-4E has 4 strings, an extra thin "U" contoured maple neck, and its 35" scale makes it easier for bass players of all sizes to access the entire fretboard. As your fingers explore the 24 XJ frets your rhythms and melodies are snatched up by dual ESP SB-4 pickups and can be reshaped to your liking with the ESP ABQ-3 3 band EQ. This captivating axe also features an ESP BB-604 string-thru-body bridge, ESP tuners, and control knobs that are all black nickel, adding an extra dash of coloration.

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:

At age 63 I decided to take up the Bass again after a 40 year absence. Did NOT want one of those starter kits. Saw this one and decided to try it. WOW!!! unbelievable looking, nice smooth fast neck, You get all kinds of good tones. Fret Buzz? yes due to my own bad fingering, shame on me. Did put a set of Dean Markley's on it, and this old man is ROCKING

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:

when my 69 kay semi hollow body Electric was broken I ordered this is as afill in bass. beautiful looking has nice tone and many options for sound. The pickups could be better but overall pleased. with the thin neck and a smaller scale it is accessible. The bridge is set up to have a through body string set up but is not. Mostly pleased considering the price. The weight is a bit much, but not overly so.

      good with the bad

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:

Although this will be negative against the bass itself it will be very positive of Musicians Friend. The bass showed up with all strings buzzing in varios postions on the neck even though ESP put an inspected by said name on the back of the bass. It seems no inspection couldve occured based on the state of the istrument. It was unplayable to say the least. I had to return it. Thats is where the staff of musicians friend were awesome. They couldnt have of been any more professional and cool about resolving my issue. Im not sure about ESP at this point but I would continue to biz with Musicians Friend without question

Fantastic tone right out of the box. Hits the low notes and makes everything rumble yet its clear and punchy with many different tone options. Sounds great from jazz riffs all the way to heavy metal without skipping a beat. Very highly recommended.

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:

I'm really a guitarist(30 yrs.)but I needed a bass for recoding purposes. I like the look, feel and sound of this instrument a lot. I use this bass for a variety of styles of music(fusion, rock, funk, blues) and it handles them nicely. The EQ lets me tighten up the sound but doesn't really alter it as much as some would say.

          This thing is a BEAST!!!!

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:

Okay, so I got this BEAUTIFUL guitar a couple days ago and all I can say is that I've been completely blown away by it. First of all, it sounds brilliant, you can get anything from a smooth, warm jazz tone to an ultra bright slap and anything in between, even running through a junk behringer 4x10. But it doesn't stop there, its got a smoking body to match its fantastic tone. The picture doesn't do this thing justice, the wood has been shaped into the perfect blend of smooth and sharp and the contrast in the woods just bump its beauty up that much more. That, along with being perfectly dialed in from the factory make for a killer deal, especially at such a great price.

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:

I have owned mine for about a month now and the tone you get with the active EQ is just great. I play in a metal Experimental band and we play in drop C and there is just a little buzzing but not to bad. Good buy for the price and the when you get it, it just looks way better than the picture does

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:

At first thought for most players, ESP's are meant only for metal and hard rock. I purchased this bass today after firstly falling in love with its gorgeous looks, pictures do not give this instrument justice, it has to be seen in person. It plays super fast and has a wide range of tones thanks to the 3 band eq. It's a wonderful bass for the money and offers a wide variety of sounds for all players.

          Not bad at all

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:

I got this bass after I graduated, I play in a death metal band and really there's quite a bit you can do with this guitar with the 3-Band EQ. You can really get about any sound you like out of it, I'm not too great of a player but for what I need to do, this guitar can support. I played a Squire MB before and when I plug this in there is a significant difference, which I expect, and as far as looks go this guitar is stunning. A good guitar for a mid level bassist.
