Comments about ESP LTD Frank Bello FB-204 Bass Guitar:

Ok, so my name is Frank Bello also. I'm primarily a guitarist looking for a decent bass for recording. So how could I pass this up? It would have been nicer if the other FB had actually signed the thing, but I guess I can just sign it. Anyway, I like it, it's fun to play sounds great to my ear. Decent pickups, good action, solid neck. The only issue is one of the tuning pegs (the A) is a bit difficult to turn. Hopefully it will break in. Rock on!

Comments about ESP LTD Frank Bello FB-204 Bass Guitar:

Excellent quality for the price and don't sweat the basswood body (a tone similar to alder). Stock out of the box it might require some tweaking (truss rod, action adjustment etc) but after that it's a great playing, sounding bass. The pickups (passive with active tone control) are ESP house pickups and actually are pretty decent sounding (although I did replace mine with the ESP PJx pickups which are standard on the FB4 model and those pickups took the bass to a whole other level of tone). As far as quality I'd say (and I've owned a lot of Fenders) it's up there with Fender's more expensive Mexican models or their Blacktop / Aerodyne / Modern Player models. It's definitely a lot of bass for the money. It has quickly replaced my Gibson Thunderbird and heavily modified Epiphone EB3L as my main stage bass. The flat black with gloss black pickguard looks really nice but even better if you replace the hardware with chrome hardware (which I did after a few weeks of owning this). The neck is a typical P bass width and depth (a little chunky but fills the hand nicely and is very comfortable to play.....fast riffs/walking lines are a breeze on it). ESP did a great job copying Frank Bello's old LTD 400 series PJ bass (the bass this FB-204 and FB4 are modeled after). I usually prefer Jazz bass neck profiles but this bass has totally changed my mind on that.
