The LTD Surveyor-405 is a solidly built, bolt-on construction 5-string bass guitar that features a double cutaway with a sculpted lower bout giving you extra elbow room for a more comfortably playing design. Standard scale (34") neck features a "U" shaped profile neck so all 21 XJ jumbos are accessible to players of all hand sizes. The combination of swamp ash body and maple neck/rosewood fretboard provide a good mix of not too bright, not to mellow tone for great balance. Capturing this tone are a EMG MM5TW (bridge)/40P5 (neck) active pickups with a Rev-S 3-band EQ and mini switch coil tap bridge for shaping your sound a bit more. The Surveyor 405 bass also features a gorgeous quilted maple top with a nice glossy finish, chrome hardware, a Wilkinson-licensed bridge, ESP tuners, and a 45mm standard nut.

Comments about ESP LTD Surveyor-405 Quilted Maple 5-String Bass Guitar:
Great guitar like most of their range but try to stay away from guitars with Esp hardware, their necks and bodies though are very good and they only get better up the food chain.
I own 3 surveyors, 2 five string and one 4 string. They have all the attributes that make a good bass guitar. The neck is fast, the string spacings are very comfortable, straight out of the box both needed very little alteration. Played the a m-pulse the tonal range was as good as bass guitar twice the price. The emg active pick-ups are fabulous and the body and neck combine well to produce a guitar which is a good alrounder. If the bass had a 35 inch scale I would give it a 10.
I really can not fault anything for the price with the exception of the machine heads which quality wise fall far behind that of say fender. These particular tuners are only sold through Esp and if you can get on to them your doing better than me. If you can buy a affordable one you should do it, just be careful not to break a tuner. I live in Australia so maybe esp support is better in the USA and if your a local they may help.
Excellent, grab a runout model if you can.
