I ordered this bass hoping for the best. I could not find one around town to play and test out. I have two Fender Precision Basses. I wanted to add a jazz bass to my collection. I have always liked the looks of a 60s era Fender and with this bass I did both. When the bass arrived and I took it out of the box I was very pleased. The finish on it was beautiful and it was put together very well and the set up on it was not to bad out of the box.I played it thru my Ampeg SVT-350 amp and a Ampeg 610 cab.It sounded great. The bass has a good solid sound. It has a very good midrange sound and a nice solid bright sound on the top end. This bass cuts through the mix of a live band playing very good. The only problems I found with the guitar was the tuners were hard to turn and a rough feeling. After turning them back and forth a few times they work good now. The only other thing was the pickguard were it fit next to the control plate the cut was a little rough.I took the pickguard off and lightly sanded it and it lookes great now.
This is a really good playing and great sounding bass. The neck on this bass is a joy to play, it feels perfect. Everything on the guitar works good and I love playing it.

i already had the squier version 60s jazz bass and loved it and just decided that this would be a perfect upgrade. well, they are two completely different instruments. my squier was not as noisy, and the finish on it was perfect and the pickguard had alot more character. i still have both basses and find myself reaching for the squier more often. Now, the tone of the Fender is better but it has alot more hum and is noisier in general. it feels very durable, but the fit of the neck to the body isnt as flush, and if you look close to the paint you can see small lines in the paint in the light as to where my other bass is flawless. The fender has a nicer fretboard a darker rosewood closer to an ebony almost, but the fret ends are a little sharper than the squier. in my opinion, if you are looking for a bass with classic 60s looks and dont want to spend the money on an american, get the squier and just mod it out how you like it. who knows maybe i just got really lucky on my squier and bad luck on the fender model. ill be using the fender model as my backup
value wise, if you want something that looks and feels like a more expensive instrument then this isnt a bad buy at all especially if you can get one used it is definitely better than a mexican standard. i also played the FSR jazz bass and that one isnt a bad buy either ultimately i went for looks on this bass and thought i could save a few bucks not buying the american model. but by the time i swap out the pickups i could have bought a used american thats all im saying......

I wanted a passive jazz to use with my American Deluxe 4 and Squier 5 string. I love the vintage keys bridge and vibe of this bass. I got it used and it is like New. It has become my most used for gigs. It has that growl of a true 60s bass. I use both pups with the tone backed down 1/3. Fit finish and sunburst paint are flawless. Highly recommend

I have been giging and recording with this bass for about 4 years, and I couldn't ask for anything better! For this price you cant go wrong. The neck feels and plays better than any jazz bass I have played (even american!). I use the bridge pick up to get that punchy "jaco" sound and it nails it. Both pickups with tone all the way up gives me a huge fat slap sound. And if I back off the tone, I get and amazing almost "p bassy" tone. This bass is great and I highly recomend it. This thing may be the last bass you buy!

Comments about Fender '60s Jazz Bass:

Been playing 37 years and have played a varity of different instruments from Rickenbackers to Vintage Gibsons and this bass beats them all in playability, tone, and overall value. Mine is one of the first produced, being purchased in August of 2001, and it may be that the introduction of the line was made with TLC, but I have NEVER found an issue with it. The hum you hear is only there because of the 60's sound Fender was going for. If you haven't found out how to eliminate the hum, try either shielding tape, or just swap out to your favorite pickup. Overall....BUY IT! Buy it before Fender stops producing this baby, you won't be sorry.

            Great Vintage Style Bass

            By John Sr.

            from Va Beach, Va

Comments about Fender '60s Jazz Bass:

Fender did a nice job on this one. They give the a vintage style/feeling bass, at a price that's easier on your wallet. As always; Musician's Friend has the best prices, and I've always been treated good by them.
I've been playing for 49 years now, and I've played a slew of 50's, 60's, and 70's Fenders. I do love the tone, and feel of the older vintage guitars, and basses. I also own quite a few newer basses, and guitars. For the money; this bass is as good as it's gonna get. If you love the old vintage Fenders, then you'll love this one too. There are always good , and not so good instruments that come out of the factories; mine feels great.
I think the gap between USA and international instruments is getting smaller, and smaller. There are some really good guitars coming from Mexico, China, ect. This one is a very good buy for those who can't, or don't want to spend the money for the USA models.
            Great value.

Comments about Fender '60s Jazz Bass:

This bass blew my mind as I plucked the first note. The clarity is absolute perfection and that classic Jazz Bass Tone. I roll back on the bridge pick-up about 25% and the tone I keep at 75% and I have it all the way for the neck pickup. Gives me nothing but pure music. There is no need for modding this masterpiece except maybe different strings (I recommend Rotosound or Elixir). Anyways this bass is without a doubt the greatest one I've owned and I don't plan on getting a new one for a long long long time.

            Classic 60's Jazz Bass

Comments about Fender '60s Jazz Bass:

I've had this bass for over 3 years and I'm very pleased with it, I got it used and quite cheap. The stock pu's sounded great but when I changed them to Lindy Fralins it just made it better. The construction is top notch and the neck is comfy. I bought the new Fender Am Standard jazz and sold that and kept this one as it sounded and played better. I've replaced the pu's again, this time to EMG j's and I couldn't be happier. More versatile - Is still keep my Fralins in case I miss the passive tone. I use it for everything: Slap funk, church music, classic rock, etc! It's just a great bass. I've been through so many but I'll be keeping this one. Great value!

My friend bought this bass about six years ago and I played it in our band. It is the best bass i have ever played. He also had an original 62 p bass and its got nothin on this one. Great sound, easy playing, amazing feel, and it looks good too. I would definately recommend this bass to anyone whether your just starting out or you've been playing 50 years this bass is perfect.

Comments about Fender '60s Jazz Bass:

I boughht this used in '07 as my main bass. I've played it every day since I bought it. I put a BadAss bridge and d'addarios on it, and the tone of this bass is incredible for a Mexican bass. The sunburst is amazing, and the vintage tuners and the decal make it cosmetically stunning. In tone referance, the vintage pickups with decent strings have a piano-like brilliance. Before I start rambling about it, I'll end with this. Buy it, you'll love it.
