OVERVIEW

Embodies six decades of Fender bass legacy in a collectible U.S.-made instrument.

Since its birth in 1951, the Fender Precision Bass guitar has redefined popular music and continues to in the hands of contemporary artists worldwide. The 60th Anniversary Precision Bass is no exception!

It starts with an ash body like its 1951 counterpart, with a maple neck and fretboard with a modern 9-1/2" radius and medium-jumbo frets. From the seismic boom of its lowest E to the ringing clarity of its highest E flat, the 60th Anniversary Precision Bass gets its rich depth, definition, and dynamics from a vintage Precision Bass split single-coil pickup. Its knurled-chrome volume and tone controls are elegant in their simplicity and solidly reliable in their effect on the sound.

To further distinguish it as a special instrument created for the occasion, the 60th Anniversary Precision Bass bears a commemorative chrome neck plate honoring six decades of enduring Fender legacy. Finishing touches on this collectible bass include a high-mass vintage bridge, modern tuners, Blackguard Blonde thin-skin lacquer finish, and Fender/SKB molded case.

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass:

I've been a pro drummer forever, I've always played bass as well. A couple of years ago I got SERIOUS about bass. I practice daily and upgraded my gear. I have an American Standard Jazz, an origional 1972 Telecaster bass and this stunner.

I knew that I wanted a Precision and went into the store expecting to walk out with a garden variety American Standard P-bass. (Which would not have been a bad thing. Then I saw THIS! i pulled down a blonde and blackguard 60 anniversary P. It was very sweet. Then I spotted the same bass in sunburst. Apparently they made 100 of them in sunburst just for one retailer. It played even better to me.

I've now owned it since March of this year and it truely is "the one".

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass:

The bass was nearly flawless. If I looked very hard I can see slight checking or hazing in two areas on the back due to temp changes somewhere along the line but other than that a beautiful bass. It has the punch & tone you expect from a vintage P Bass. The fit & finish is very good and it's a limited run too. Setup is good I don't feel the need to change anything. The neck seems very harmonically alive with no dead spots I can find. Overall I'm pleased and it records great! Striking good looks I think. Had to explain to my wife, "no you're supposed to see the wood through the finish"...

          P-Bass PERFECTION

          By Brian Baker

          from Chicago, IL

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass:

This bass is a 10 out of 10 for me.
This bass is a perfect example of what a P-Bass should be. When I saw it online at this site and fender.com I knew I had to own one of these special edition basses. I love the fit & finish. It is perfect, and it has classic P-Bass tone. If you want a PHAT bass sound, buy this P-Bass.
The build quality on this bass is excellent. The fretwork is flawless.
I believe this bass could be sold for twice the price and people would still buy it.

          Nothing Short of Amazing

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass:

I started with Fender Jazz Bass 34 years ago, and I guess have come full circle, I currently own a Fender 60th P, Kubicki XFactor, G&L JB2 and a few others but its Fender in my Blood
I was fortunate enough to get this beauty direct from Fender, it was sitting in the middle of their new visitor center and you can play every guitar they make that isnt under glass (Leo's Originals, some Artist Guitars) so this was locked and i asked if i could try it, they were kind enough to unlock it and pull it down, I dont know if the MOJO of sitting next to the original guitars Leo made or what it was but this thing just smoked, amazing tone control, tons of Growl, it is just a mean BASS, I asked if i could buy it, and 20 minutes later I had it in the car. I am a Jazz Bass player for years and have never like the P Necks but am now converted..... Plus the Case it came in is like a vault.. you need this guitar
Superb, Not a single issue to complain about, fit and finish, set up absolutly perfection
This Bass will only go up in value...

          Beautiful Blonde

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass:

Beautiful, attention-grabbing bass that is sure to garner a lot of compliments when you play out. Admittedly, I'm a Fender kind of guy. I own a bunch of them, and have owned a bunch more. I have a few other Precisions; but I like this one because it has a different look than the more common post-1957-styled P's. And it sounds like a good Precision should.
The only reason this 60th Anniversary Precision doesn't get a 10 is because it IS a P-Bass. Simplicity is the beauty of these things. If you're looking for a dozen different controls/knobs, get something else. But if you want a meat-and-potatoes blue collar workhorse, you can't beat a P. Looks-wise, I think it's stunning. The Blackguard Blonde looks killer with the maple neck/board and the black pickguard. The beautiful grain of the ash shows through nicely as well. I've always liked the looks of the '51 styled basses, but I'm not a fan of the slab bodies. This one has the contoured body, so it's much more comfortable on a long gig.
Very well made. Set up was great right out of the box, although I did tweak it a bit after I slapped on some flats. (By the way, I LOVE flats on this bass!) Like most Fenders, set-ups are quite user-friendly. Very comfortable neck, and the fretwork is superb. This has one of the most responsive tone knobs I've seen on a P-Bass, and I've had a number of them. As mentioned above, the ash grain showing through the Blonde finish looks awesome. And I really like the extra string-retainer on the A-string.
Well, I don't really see it as a lot better than the newer American Standards; but it IS a limited edition. Buying it on sale makes the price much more palatable. On sale, I think it's a very good value.

          My Go To Bass

          By DudeCraft

          from Durham, NC

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass:

I've owned Stingrays and Jazz basses (still do), but ever since I laid hands on this beautiful, light, and responsive little machine, my jazz bass has been collecting some dust in the corner. I played it last week out of pity, but I soon went back to the P. The feel, the lightness, the tone...just killer all around. The only downside is that it felt like a baseball bat from the factory, but when my set-up man was finished with it, it played like a dream. Nothing bad to say here.

          Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass

          By Bronson

          from Ada,Oklahoma

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass:

Having played a P Bass for over 40 years, I just purchased the 60th Anniversary edition from Musician's Friend. It is well built, looks amazing, and plays fantastic. Intonation throughout the neck is superb with no dead spots. First P Bass I have had with a maple fretboard. I really like the brighter sound it gets. I have played a 50th Anniversary Fender Jazz Bass but this axe blows it away. If you love the P bass sound, you need to check the 60th Anniversary edition out! Fender got it real right on this model.

          Well worth it!

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary P Bass:

I bought this bass last week when they had the Presidents Day sale. I got a great deal and when I got the bass the deal got better. The bass is nice and light and the fit and finish is very nice. I would say it is as nice as any of my USA Laklands. Frets are beautiful and it plays perfectly.....no buzz at all. Tone is pure P bass all the way. A really nice bass and a really good deal. And these new Fender cases are awesome! Thanks Fender!!
