Fender

This American Standard Series Jazz Bass for left-handed players has a vintage body radius and contour for a classic vibe and feel. The body is rendered in premium alder for optimum tone and sustain. Its rosewood or maple fretboard features detailed fret and nut work. The neck is graphite-reinforced and has rolled edges for a broken-in feel from the get-go. HMV Bridge (high mass vintage) increases sustain, provides punchier tone, beefier looking plates and 3/8" diameter vintage saddles. String height adjustment screws have nylon patches for a tight fit that won't vibrate loose.

The left-handed Fender Jazz Bass has a 12-gauge cold rolled steel plate machined brass backstop that increases mass and enhances top end. Socket head intonation screws are engineered for a tighter fit, and are now more stable. Features Fender®/Hipshot® tuning keys. The work great, and are 30% lighter, minimizing neck dip. Classic 20:1 tuning ratio, cast zinc with aluminum string posts and mounting nuts, and steel clovers. Brass worm gears, steel worm drives.

With a thinner undercoat, the American Standard P Bass body breathes easier and has improved sound (more wood influence). Neck pocket paint buildup has been reduced by 40%, greatly improving the wood to wood connection/reaction.

SKB rectangular design bass guitar case, exclusive to Fender, has TSA recognized and accepted locks. Fiberglass reinforced nylon trigger release latching system, indestructible cushioned rubber over-molded handle with flush lock out. Injection molded feet and exclusive arched stacking system.

For twenty five years I had to play whatever kind of left handed junk I could find, always wanting an American Precision or Jazz Bass.  The wait is over. I got it the end of February, sooner than I expected.  I played six Big gigs and never sounded better. It has light action, superb craftsmanship, an excellent finish and being a heavy instrument, it is easily fixed by using a wide strap.  I HAVE NEVER LOVED PLAYING AS MUCH AS I DO NOW. I will never play anything else. JEFFREY PAUL

I've had my Sunburst Jazz Bass for 2 months now and I absolutely love it.  It plays incredibly and sounds phenomenal.  Not to mention how beautiful it is.  The sunburst finish is gorgeous. I love the tortoise-shell pickgard as well. The case is awesome, too.  The only downside to this bass it that it's rather heavy.  Do yourself a favor and get a padded strap for this sucker.  I did a 4 hour gig with a regular strap and thought my shoulder was going to fall off.I must say that I'm very happy to have purchased it before the $350 price increase, though.

When I found out Fender was offering a new left handed version of their American standard J-bass for 2008 I ordered one immediately. I favour passive electronics and U.S. manufacture, and this is as good as it gets at this price range. Typically, you get a lot of hum when you roll off one of the pickups but DiMarzios will fix that. The fit and finish are spot on, and it plays smooth. More colour options would be nice. No extra frills here, just classic, dependable necessities. Best lefty value out there!
