A modernized classic with all the right moves from Fender.

Fender introduced the American Standard Precision Bass V guitar in 1951, and its thick sound and indestructible build changed popular music. Today’s American Standard Precision Bass V is the new version of the great instruments of bass heroes past and present; the modern interpretation of Fender's classic instrument refined for modern players. The American Standard Precision Bass V has a high-mass vintage bridge, Fender Custom Shop ’60s Precision Bass split single-coil pickup, thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance, improved Fender tuners that are 30 percent lighter while keeping the classic look, richer and deeper neck tint for a more elegant appearance, great-looking gloss rosewood fingerboard, satin neck back for smooth playability and Fender-exclusive SKB molded case.

Comments about Fender 2012 American Standard Precision Bass V with Rosewood Fingerboard:

A precision is the iconic bass in looks and feel with the jazz a close second. The five string precision has the same character and tone of the four with added modern playability of a five. I've had Stingray, Sterling, Warwick, Smith all of which are great in their own right but the Fender maintains that heritage sound which is nearly impossible, or at best an approximation, with an active bass. Even without the active electronics the low B has strength and clarity. I'm a four stringer at heart but have occasion in pop/jazz/rock for a five string - this is certainly what I would recommend to any serious player.
