Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
This is the bass I've been searching for since I let my 79 P bass get away. Old school Fender sound and feel. Only bad thing, this bass has been discontinued from Fender's product line.

Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
A pretty simple/straightforward bass (only 2 knobs). Don't confuse simple with deficient. This bass is simple because it doesn't try to do everything... but what it does do, it does amazingly well. The tone really is fantastic.
Nice size fretboard. slightly wider than my american deluxe precision bass. I got the 2 tone burst and swapped the gold pickguard for tortoise. Looks fantastic. my current 'go to' bass.

Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
A little pricey for the beginning Bassist, but a great buy for the seasoned pro. I have been playing for 30 years, and I have yet to find a Bass sound and play this good. Personal preference prevails, but if you like vintage tone without the accompanying pitfalls and price of an original piece, this is your axe. Go USA Fender !!

Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
I purchased my '57 Reissue P-Bass new in early 1984. It was my primary bass for about 15 years. I have used it extensively for performance and recording in all types of venues and environments(i.e indoors, outdoors, hot, cold, dry, damp,)and for many different styles including rock, country, R&B, casual, etc. I strongly recommend this instrument based on its round classic tone, comfortable feel, good workmanship, and mostly, its rock solid stable operation. It stays in tune, has simple high quality controls, no superfluous junky attachments and a tone that is consistently voiced from the low E to the high Eb.
In the sudio, you can choose a modern "hi fi" instrument and treat the tone with many EQ and leveling devices, OR you can use this bass with just a touch of compression and sound like a Motown or Wrecking Crew icon!
I own many basses, and for live work in recent years I often choose one of my 5 string active basses. However, this is mostly because I have come to look at my '57 as a special heirloom and I don't want to risk wrecking it!
Every serious working bassist should own a P-Bass, and this one is the most refined and essential of the breed. It ages like fine wine...
Get one, put on La Bella flatwounds, keep clean and adjust properly. True love...no kidding!
Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
I have primarily used a 4003 rickenbacker for the past couple of years, but this P-bass is much more easier to play. This bass is fantastic and reasonably priced. It's a must!!
Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
I am in my mid forties and the bass sound that is in my head, the tone I've been searching for comes from a Fender not all Fender's. This is ONE, the AV 57 is the best Fender bass and truest to tone and sound I've ever played. Out of the case tune it and its ready to rock n' roll.Forget MIA, MIM, MIJ. CIJ just get the AV 57 and you're DONE!!!
Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
Ever since my first Jr. High School band, before I even began my bass studies, our bassist had a white '57, maple neck and fingerboard and gold anodized pick-guard, I have had a "jones" for this instrument. As I seriously began to study bass in '67 it was always on my mind. Finally I find that these are vintage and way out of my price range. Admittedly, I would not trade my '63 J-bass for an original as once offered, I still wanted one. Finally Fender re-issued the '57 and I am in love with it as the day I got it. Since I have no clear recollection of the tone of my old bassists, original, I suspect the re-issue is close if not perhaps slightly better with improved manufacturing techniques. Thx, Fender!
Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
I tried every bass that Fender has on the market over a 6 month window.(Mexico, Japan, Indonesia, and American. The Ameican made basses are by far the superior line. I purchased a Highway one and thought it would suit my needs. I was wrong. I tried the Standard, and I was still wrong. When I got the 57 and checked it out from top to bottom, I was extremely impressed with the Quality and playability. The best feature I think is the neck. The decal is put on the outside of the finish which is not usually done previously, and it was noticable (It could have used about 5 more coats of nitrocellulose laquer to optimize the surface) but I'm kinda anul about stuff like that. Other than that, the bass is supreme to all Fender basses, but the 62 re-issue is pretty close. I play this through my SVT classic and 8x10, and I rule the earth. I just love to see the American craftsmanship from Fender still lives on. This is a players bass, the way a bass should be all around for decades to come. I would buy it again. Its worth way more than it sells for. So don't let the cost scare you. Be a real man and buy a real bass. You won't be sorry.
Comments about Fender American Vintage '57 Precision Bass:
I've been playing this P-Bass every day for several months now and still can't get enough! The neck is fast, comfortable and so easy to get around on, and the tone is just fantastic! If you're looking for that classic "old-school" Fender P-Bass tone with the look and feel of a real vintage 57 then this is it! The two-tone sunburst (or tobacco sunburst)with the gold pickguard is just beautiful. I've received numerous compliments on it from other musicians on the finish. This is truly the next best thing to a Custom Shop for those who want that classic vintage look, sound and feel but don't want (or can't afford) to pay the extra dough for a Custom Shop. What you get is better than an American Standard, not quite a Custom Shop, but something in-between, and it's priced accordingly. Great bass!
