A customized Precision bass with Jazz bass features.
The Custom Shop 2012 Closet Classic Precision Bass Pro combines the best of the Precision and Jazz bass models into a truly distinctive instrument with an olympic white finish and closet classic wear treatment, which imparts the look of a long-lost but newly rediscovered instrument. Its beautiful alder body give the instrument amazing sustain and resonance. The lightly tinted quartersawn maple neck with a 1960s Jazz bass U shape, rosewood fingerboard with 10" radius, and 20 medium jumbo frets let you slide up and down the neck with complete comfort and accuracy. Its three-ply tortoiseshell pickguard pops against the olympic white body and gives the bass a classic refined look. The Jazz bass pickup in the 1970s Precision bass position, Badass bridge and vintage-style paddle tuners give the player unreal tone definition and allow for a complete range of tonal options.

Comments about Fender Custom Shop 2012 P Bass Pro - Closet Classic Electric Guitar:
I have the 2011 in sunburst and the 2012 in white. This is, in my opinion, the best combination of elements on any Fender bass. I own and play jazz basses, but prefer the smaller p-bass body. The tuning keys may look a little on the plain side, but they have a great gear ratio and give the instrument a nice vintage look. The neck is incredibly comfortable. It has jazz bass measurements, but is a little more rounded at the nut than a Geddy Lee model. The block inlays add an element of class than the small dot inlays. The pickup configuration is the best of both worlds, precision and jazz bass (with the jazz pickup in the 70's position). Two volume and one tone gives you a lot of tonal flexibility. And finally, the [*] bridge. The only down side to this instrument is the pricing. If Fender brought this bass out an an import, with a more competitive price point, I think they might have a new industry standard instrument. But if you don't mind paying a higher price, I highly recommend this instrument. Great sounding pickups and a wonderfully broken in feel from the custom shop.
