Comments about Fender Deluxe Dimension Electric Bass V 5-String:

I have been playing with this Bass for about 5 months now and I must say that I am really impressed.

This Bass has a great feel and fast action. The tone suite my style a lot. I play Rock, Funk and Jazz music and with it's on-board EQ it makes it very versatile.

The built quality is solid as well as the electronics. I have no issues with the battery compartments as other have experience, maybe I'm just lucky. I also have no issues with the frets and the fretboard feels and plays like butter.

I give this Bass 5 stars, as it's on par with other high-end Basses I have played with, even the America Precision Bass. I still prefer the Ernie Ball Musicman 5 over this however, but for the price it's definitely a 5-star buy. Well done Fender.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Dimension Electric Bass V 5-String:

I'll start by saying I love Fender products, I have 3 US Fender basses, and a Strat. I wanted to add a 5 string to my collection so I tried this bass. I ordered one through my local shop and it wasn't long before I returned it. This bass was not up to the standard I've grown to expect from Fender.

I'll start with the pros: The US electronics sounded good, very modern and snappy. That was about all I liked about it...

Cons: Set up was terrible, couldn't get the strings even close to fender standard height without a shim. The finish on the neck was tacky and seemed to get clumpy and wear in spots after playing the bass for only a few days. The fret ends were very sharp and would have needed a good amount of filing. The battery compartments were cheap and felt like they were not going to last long. It was difficult to play the low B without it making contact with the pickup pole, causing a loud pop sound.

As I said, I'm picky... but this bass had so many corners cut on it that it did not feel worth the cost. I know the mexican fenders are suppose to be intermediate level instruments, but I've played squiers that had been built with more care.

I hope the american dimensions are made with more quality control, because the mexican one was very disappointing.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Dimension Electric Bass V 5-String:

Played one today. Neck felt good. Comfortable in my lap, light weight. Played thru an Ampeg practice amp. Sounded terrible. Put it thru a B15 and it rocked. EQ is backwards to what play. Just had to look down. This is a great rock and country bass. Played with the mid-sweep for different tones. Good deeps and highs. Maybe not for funk or jazz. I will buy one soon and use it. Just change the strings. A good Med-light should work fine. Good buy for the price.
