OVERVIEW

A beautiful combo of two of Fender's most legendary basses featuring the best of both worlds.

It’s one of the most common modification requests Fender gets for Precision basses—the remarkable tonal versatility of an added Jazz Bass bridge pickup. The Limited Edition American Standard PJ Bass is a great American Standard Precision Bass—the rock-solid stalwart of the bass world—with the extra functionality of a singing, snarling Jazz Bass bridge pickup and a thinner Jazz Bass neck for faster action.

Comments about Fender Limited Edition American Standard Rosewood Fingerboard PJ Electric Bass:

I have only been playing bass 4 years. My best Fender bass I played before I acquired the Fender PJ Limited Edition bass, was a Mexican made Jazz bass which is a pretty good bass itself. I saw a Mexican made Fender PJ bass like the American Standard displayed here. Except that the body was sea green and I didn't go for that. When I saw this American Standard Limited Edition Bass in the catalog I knew it was the bass I had been looking for. I also play a Sguire Precision bass made in China which is a fun bass to play. So I was familiar with the general characteristics of both instruments. This combination of the 2 bass styles is perfect. For my playing. Getting an American made Fender, brand new, out of the box, is an awesome experience. A sturdy pro case, shiney new tools, a decent instrument cable, and the best surprise a nice padded guitar strap. I picked the bass up out of the case, clipped the tuner to the headstock. I made a few adjustments to each string to get them in tune. After all open strings were in perfect tune I went to the 12rh fret to check the intoneation. The intonation was perfect. This bass required no set up out of the box. It is ready to roll. The pickups are passive, which is fine with me. In fact these custom shop pick ups are louder and fuller than the active setups I have on two other basses I own. I see that there is a Fender out there like this one with active pickups for a couple hundred more if you go for active pic ups. But this one suits me fine and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
