    New Bass for my daughter

    | Review By: Matthew Hall | 8 months, 3 weeks ago

    Features:

Not a lot of frills but lots of great sound.

    Quality:

This is a beautiful instrument.  Fender really puts together a quality product.

    Value:

    Best price on the web!

    Overall:

I got this bass as a gift for my daughter who recently took up the bass as part of our church praise band.  My wife and I wanted to get her something nice that wouldn't break the bank.  Even though she's just starting out, we wanted to get her a guitar that she could treasure for years to come.  I looked around and the Fender Standard fit the bill.  I love the folks at Musician's Friend.  Not only did they match a deal I could get at another site, but it arrived withing a few days and was all set up and ready to play right out of the box.  This saved more I didn't have to pay for set up.

    Guitar crazy....love the Precision Bass

    Features:

Not a lot of Knobs, but then not needed.

    Quality:

It is a Fender....what else is needed

    Value:

For this money, you could waste a lot more on other brands and regret later on, I know that is what happened to me, then spent wise money and went back to this Fender.

    Overall:

I play a lot, this guitar will do just about everything needed to play in any situation. Get the right strings, the right cord, and the attitude that you need to take care of your Guitar, and this Precision will not let you down. I have played lots of guitars, just sold a much more exspensive stingray, for me, now, I like the warm tone of this Fender Precision. I would recommend this guitar to any one whether it is an up-grade, or for the first timer who just needs to go ahead and start off right.

I purchased this bass in 2007 (mine is a 2006 model) and i have fallen in love with it. I have played numerous more expensive basses and always come back to this one. The action came perfect right out of the box and it plays like a dream for the money. I play mostly distorted music like that of Death From Above 1979 and this bass performs as though it should have cost twice as much. For anyone looking for a solid workhorse bass, or if you are looking for an excellent bass to begin on (wich is what i did) then this bass is excellent. My only complaint is that the bridge lowers it self after numerous performances, but it is a small problem compared that is easily corrected. I highly suggest this bass to anybody for any style of music.

Wow.. That's all I can say really... This bass is amazing!! Before I got this one, all I used were Ibanez basses. But this bass is incredible! I think I found my new brand! I got this guitar for a surprise gig that I only had a week to prepare for. Musicians Friend sent it fast! I got it in three days and no problems out of the box! The strings felt a little weird though. But I guess it's just because they weren't my brand. I just put some Knuckle Head's on it and the sound is at maximum potential!     I play a mix between slap and smooth bass styles, and this bass is the best of both worlds! When you ply with your fingers or a felt pick, the sound is nice and thumpy, or smooth as glass depending on the tone. When you play slap, it's as nasty as you want it to be!     This is an amazing bass! If you have the extra money and can't decide, here ya go... Get this one!!!

I have been an active musician for over 26 years, recorded demos with tribute bands Van Heaven and Up The Irons, an album with La Orquesta Samecumba and done jingles for different non-profit org's. promotional videos and media. Having played Ibanez, Kramer, Gibson, Yamaha, Squier, Dean, Cort and numerous other brand basses on the market throughout time, I can only say that I now understand why all records in all walks of music that have been so successful throughout their lifespans have all featured a Fender P as their main bass guitar. I switched the pickups to a pair of Dimarzio Model Ps, the bridge to a Hipshot Style A and the strings to D'Addario flatwounds and damn does this baby rock hard now, but so warm, deep and smooth at the same time! The bass' neck is very easy to play and this baby covers just about any and every style of music out there today! Thank you Steve Harris for introducing me to this wonderful piece of work!
