I was very impressed with this bass! Though at first, I was a bit skeptical. (Seeing the price and the name on the headstock) For the money, this bass cannot be beat. For a long time, I only played the higher end jazz basses, and saw Squire basses a cheap. (I was SO wrong) Not here. The Vintage Modified line is amazing! It doesn't feel cheap. You can pick this bass up, and tell it's a quality instrument. The neck is slim, and easy to move around upon. The electronics are great. It took me a while to dial in my ideal tone. But eventually, I found it. When I first saw the price of this bass, I almost ruled it out as an option. But as soon as I picked it up and played it, I was SOLD. I would recommend this bass for any gigging musician or anyone who likes to do upgrades. The only mod I plan on doing is putting some Aguilar AG 4J-HC's in it. Squire nailed it with this one. BUY THIS BASS!

              Great bass!
I've been playing a Ibanez Soundgear Bass 6 string for the past 6 months and needed a bit of change. This bass does exactly that. The bass looks great, sounds great, and for the money it's a steal.
My only complaint is that it's a bit on the heavy side but I've spoiled by Ibanez' for the last 7 years in regards to instrument weight. I would not hesitate to buy this bass again and wish I had years ago.

I had some doubts when I ordered this bass, but was soon relieved once I received and started playing it. Finish and quality is very good, setup was good, pickups sound good, I am very happy with it! This is my second Squire and honestly I am very pleased with both. Would recommend this bass for anyone to try, specially in this price range.

Great sound and play-ability. My second one throughout the years. I put a Gotoh bridge on it and some fender 9060L flat-wound strings and it plays perfect with no buzz and with equal dynamics all over the finger board. I'm liking this bass more than my old american G&L.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s:

I spent the better part of 5 months going through stores and pawn shops, looking at new and used basses, in an attempt to find a perfect bass for me to begin with, all the while borrowing a friend's bass to practice on. I found one of these beauties in a store and was blown away with how much it felt like my friend's Fender Jazz Bass, and went home to order it. It showed up very fast and I couldn't be happier with it.
It is basically a Jazz Bass, and that is all there is to it. It feels like one, sounds like one, therefor it is a Jazz Bass. I have a few little issues with it, but they can either be easily fixed or are just negligible.
The scratch board is a bit iffy, and scratches up where I usually rest my thumb on the neck pickup. That may just be me who did that, though, by pressing down onto it too hard. Also the bridge, while functional, is set up in a way that the D and A strings just touch the springs and vibrate a bit. This actually isn't picked up on an amp, though, and could probably be fixed with just a little adjustment.
Overall, This is a FANTASTIC little bass.
