Gibson tradition and innovation meet in a thundering new bass.

The 2013 EB Bass has deep roots in rock 'n 'roll, with its SG-derived body and chunky pickups rumbling out the low end for countless rockers from the '60s to today. Now Gibson USA blends its knack for innovation with Gibson tradition in an ingenious reinvention of the format to bring you the new EB Bass, one of the most powerful and versatile four strings available today. The new EB Bass marries a brand new and extremely comfortable body shape to a glued-in, full-scale neck and two awesome sounding new humbucking bass pickups for unprecedented power and fidelity. Whether you play in-the-pocket funk, warm and sultry jazz, or raging rock, the EB Bass is primed to take it on. It looks great in the process, too, in your choice of four gorgeous grain-textured nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, in Natural Satin, Satin Ebony, Satin Cream and Satin Fireburst, each offset by a stylishly swept-back red tortoise pickguard.

The foundation of the new EB Bass from Gibson USA lies in a solid ash body and glued-in maple neck. Ash has long been respected for its open, resonant tone, and lends itself perfectly to a rich, versatile-voiced bass. A glued-in solid Grade-A maple neck adds punch and clarity to the brew, and feels superbly playable with its rounded profile that measures .800" at the 1st fret and .900" at the 12th. Its unbound genuine rosewood fingerboard follows the full 34" scale length, and carries 20 medium jumbo frets, all easily reached by the playing hand thanks to the EB Bass's new offset double-cutaway styling. Up at the other end, a traditional Gibson headstock and high-quality Grover™ tuners stick with tradition, while a precision PLEK cut Corian™ nut optimizes sustain and intonation.

The new EB Bass’s unprecedented blend of power, fidelity, and versatility comes courtesy of an incredible pair of new Gibson bass pickups by Jim DeCola that give bassists the best of both worlds in cool bass tone. These newly designed pickups blend genuine Alnico V rod magnets with proprietary winding methods and other materials for a more focused tonality, taking you from thundering humbucker rumble to gutsy robust single coil tones on demand. Pop up either pickup's volume control to access a new frequency tuned coil tap for a fatter single coil tone and better output balance, with hum canceling when both pickups are combined, and low-noise operation when used individually. Blended as desired via independent volume controls and a master tone control, they are wound for warmth and clarity in the neck position, and a hotter, punchier tone in the bridge position for maximum rumble—or blend infinitely at will to create your own sonic brew. A great, highly engineered Babicz™ full contact bass bridge feeds these incredible pickups with the optimum clarity and sustain, while being easily adjustable for perfect intonation, completing a new EB Bass that looks and feels entirely “classic," yet offers a versatile contemporary performance that every modern bassist will appreciate. Check out the new EB Bass today, and see what these new heights of tone and playability can do for your music.

Includes a Gibson hardshell case and owner's manual, and is covered by Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 Customer Service.

Comments about Gibson 2013 EB Electric Bass Guitar:

Have been playing assorted instruments ranging from the lower spectrum to high end brands for many years. Have to say that although the Gibson I ordered sounded and felt great, the craftmanship (on this particular bass, most likely not all) was far from Gibson's reputation and price. The bass had two cosmetic drops of "something" under the finish and one of the push/pull control knobs was not attached. In fact, it wouldn't go back on after moving it to the second position the first time I played it. Hard to use the switch if each time you pull it out, it comes off. I refused to epoxy the knob on a intermediate to high end product (although I thought about it). I have to say that I've been partial to Fender finishes in the past that are slick, smoothe and fresh. The Gibson basically just looks like painted wood with no perks to the finish. Maybe that's the intent of this particular model, but for the price, there are many other choices that "look the price" and just not for me. Anyway, the biggest plus was a flawless return by the Musician's Friend staff. Kudos for all the help. Order from them in confidence that any problems encountered will be handled quickly and professionally without any harrassment. Although the bass I received had some problems, I would still have to recommend it based off of playability and tone, just not on cosmetics. Sounded and felt absolutely great. Would still rate it as a "4" but Gibson needs to do a little better in the quality dept. Going to replace it with a Fender.

Comments about Gibson 2013 EB Electric Bass Guitar:

Wanted to step up to a better quality bass after several midrange active ones. After trying a few others, this one blew me away and did not change my mind after ordering and receiving it.It arrived in perfect shape and set up.The neck is just right, the bridge and hardware are solid and well-made.The pickup and tone knobs give it great range and are far superior to others I tried. All in all, I could not be more pleased and satisfied.

Comments about Gibson 2013 EB Electric Bass Guitar:

I'll get right to the point, the versatily of this bass is amazing. With the pull or tap of each volume control this bass goes from double humbucker to single coil. Turn off the bridge pick up, put it in single coil at the neck, and it sounds like a P Bass. Want the slap and pop tones of a Music Man just turn off the neck pick up, or want the growl of a T-Bird run with both humbuckers wide open. The Babicz bridge is a solid heavy bridge that's easy to adjust and the Grover Tuners complete a nice highend hardware package. It comes with a Gibson USA hardshell case. At 8 Lbs this is a bass for the working musician. This is the best bass I've purchased in years

Comments about Gibson 2013 EB Electric Bass Guitar:

Gibson EB is right up there with any Fender Bass that is now being made. Great looks, sound and feel. With Chrome Flatwounds this Bass can produce about any sound you need. Great craftsmanship and except for my preference for Flatwounds, it is great right out of the nice Gibson case...You better grab one now...Going to be a hot pick...
