I just got this bass yesterday and it has a wonderful vintage rock and roll tone! Not to mention that the finish is beautiful! It's a great bass for all those who just want to rock! I would recommend this bass to anyone who likes that warm full sound of a Gibson SG bass and is looking for a one of a kind bass!
The Gibson SG Supreme Fireburst Bass Guitar is a combination of great looks, and great tone all wrapped up into a light, short-scale bass. The finish is very well done and looks great. The trapezoid inlays (in my opinion) look a lot cooler than regular dot inlays. Also, it's worth noting that there is inlay work on the headstock as opposed to a painted on logo. The bridge is really fancy looking as well. I'm a lefty and I bought this bass righty, flipped it over because it was symmetrical and works great. I had work done on the nut because it was going out of tune easily, but haven't had any troubles since. I've got the action set up very low on this bass so I can play higher up on the neck with no difficulty. I used to have a Squire bass and the strings were so high up from the neck it was rediculous. After playing this bass for a while, I lifted a regular full size bass and couldn't believe how light this bass is. As for tone, the mix of the vintage and regular humbuckers sounds great. I play through a Peavey VB-2 Tour tube head and 212 Avatar cab and love the punchy/gritty rock 'n roll tone. Oh yeah, it comes with a really nice case. I bet my cat would love to sleep in it but I don't let him.
