I've owned this bass only a short while but I have been playing for 45 years. This bass is solid, looks good, plays well and sounds fantastic. The tonal variation you can get from this bass is unbelievable. I have a Ric, a Fender P, Fender J and Gibson SG Bass and they all seem like one trick ponies compared to the ASAT. One of the features I really like is being able to switch from Active to Passive mode without a big drop in volume. When playing active this bass has a lot of punch and grind. When you play it passive it is warm and woody sounding. Great bass. If it were lost or stolen, I would definitely try to swing another one.

This bass rocks it is simply the best bass I have But yes it is a costly bass but it is well worth it.... I seen, tom Hamilton from Aerosmith playing this on the last tour and love the sound of it and had to have it...

Overall great. Can't say anymore
I have played Leo Fender basses my entire long lived career. And many other basses too. I have always come back to Leo. This Asat bass is Leo of old and new. It has a throw back look, with many modern features. The Butter Scotch Blonde model is amazing to look at. The active electronics are incredible and after my first live gig many people approached me on how great the sound came across, and asked "where did you get that bass?". The glossy neck feels perfect. I love glossy necks. It reminds me of the classic 70's Fender basses. I would say that the neck pick up reminds me of a Telecaster bass, the bridge one has a great Jaco type Jazz wind, and both together is a combo of a powerful Stingray/Jazz/ mixed with some P bass fat.
A true bass for a true Fender fan / for anyone who wants to hold and play an instrument designed by the greatest inventor of all for the elecric bass.
Hold it in your hands and see for yourself.

I lost my bass in the chicago airport, long story short, it wandered off when I was distracted, should have handcuffed it to my wrist. Any way it was nice and blanced with a tone control that varied the balance of slap to grunting lows and now I only wish that they made it in colors and sunburst in the solid body. the person who got mine in chicago I hope will take good care of it cause it is truely vintage.

THIS IS THE NICEST BASS I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I picked my older ASAT bass up in a trade for an American Deluxe Telecaster. It was the best trade I have ever made. I play jazz professionally and switching from upright to this bass for a funky tune makes you reallly appreciate the pallet this bass achieves. I have owned ONLY fender basses in the past, both vintage and new and this blows them out of the water. It is a Fender Bass on STEROIDS

I have had this bass for about 5 years. I own a ric, vintage and newer p and j basses and others. If I have to choose one to take with me it's going to be this one. Tone is awesome and limitless. Through my ampeg classic it's a different world of tone and punch. My guitar player can't believe how sweet it sounds. All I have eto do is plug in one of my other axes and it all becomes apparent. When we play at clubs I have other bassists make comment after comment. For those that think it's overpriced. Compare it to a ric/Ibanez/Fender or whatever in the same price point and it will win hands down.

12 years and 6 basses and I have finally found my 4 string soul mate. The tone is perfect. I got my tone sounding like a musicman but with my deep tone and high twangs that elegantly highlight every note. Prior to finding this peach I was playing a Fender jazz bass so it took a little bit for me to get use to the ASAT's unique shape. The price is a tad high but defintly worth it. I only wish it were available in more colors. Pick one up and let it rip
